India names the squad for Asia Cup 2023

Arsh Verma |

The Asia Cup 2023 will commence on 30th August 2023 and will be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. With nine days left to the start of the tournament, the men in blue announce their squad participating in the Tournament. The Squad features some new names, debuting in the scheme of things. With Rohit Sharma as Captain, Hardik as Vice Captain, and two Middle-Order Batsmen making their comebacks. Here are some key highlights of the squad.

To counter the Middle-order trouble, the Indian selectors have selected two Middle-Order batsmen to make their come-back, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the squads. While Shreyas Iyer got injured in March this year, suffering from a major back injury, Iyer has been out from the team for over Six Months. On the other hand, Rahul injured himself in the Tata IPL 2023, with a fractured knee, Rahul has been recovering and training at the National Cricket Academy. The Inclusion of these two has ensured stability in the middle order. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar while announcing the team, declared KL Rahul as the first-choice Wicket-Keeper of the team. This puts up a question mark at the place of Ishan Kishan in the playing 11.

Another Major highlight was the inclusion of young, explosive, left-hander, Tilak Varma in the team. The 20-year-old has continued to impress the selectors with his flawless technique and ability to loft at will. His intent and his hunger for scoring runs would help the team to chase down big targets. India’s top order has been exposed to left-arm fast bowling several times. India’s 5-3 in the World Cup 2019 semi-final against Trent Boult, and ICC Champions Trophy 2017 33-3 against Mohd Amir have been some instances. With the inclusion of a Left-Hander in Top-order India would be able to counter the Left-Arm Pace from the Likes of Shaheen Afridi and Mustafizur Rahman.

With Tilak, Rahul, and Iyer’s inclusion in the team, many quality players were also ignored by the Management. Shikhar Dhawan is one of the best players that India has ever produced when it comes to Multi-Nation Tournaments. The elegant left-handed opener had opened the batting for India for almost a decade. The experience and numbers that Dhawan brings to the table are unquestionable. The lack of form in the past games has led to his exclusion from the team. Another experienced candidate that is left behind is Bhuveneshwar Kumar. The 33-year-old has led the Pace Department of the team for a long time. He has been in and out of the team, but his ability to swing the ball both ways has made him a legend of pace bowling. With the inclusion of Siraj and Krishna, the selectors have shown interest in the youngsters instead of the prodigy. These might mark the end of the careers of the two Experienced Campaigners S. Dhawan and B. Kumar.

The exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal will also be a shock for many viewers and fans. Chahal has never disappointed in the Longer format. Despite an exceptional record in the subcontinent, Yuzi Chahal is replaced by Axar Patel. Axar Patel may prove to be a better choice than the leg-spinner as Axar provides depth in the batting of the team along with a handy left-arm spin. As Ishan gets a chance in the Squad, Sanju Samson still gets ignored by the selectors. Kept in Reserved, Sanju deserved to be in the squad with the talent he possesses.

An ideal playing 11 for the Indian Team may be Rohit to open along with Shubhman Gill. The opening duo may provide the team with an explosive and solid start. With Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul stabilizing the Middle-Order and Rahul also playing the role of Wicket-keeper. The team would go with Hardik and Jadeja being the two all-rounders. Jadeja with Axar or Kuldeep will be the two Spinners. The pace battery would include Shami, Bumrah, and Siraj. The team could play all three spinners in place of one of the fast bowlers according to the conditions.

SQUAD: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna

The remarkable BRICS summit is all set to open in Johannesburg, South Africa

Arsh Verma |

BRICS is an economic grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa that was created in 2010 when South Africa joined its predecessor BRIC. The original acronym “BRIC” or “BRICs” was coined in 2001 by Goldman Sachs economist Jim O’Neill to describe the fast-growing economies that will collectively dominate the world economy by 2050. The 15th summit of BRICS is going to happen in Johannesburg, South Africa on 23rd August, Wednesday. This will be the largest gathering of this grouping since its formation in 2001. More than 23 countries all over the world have formally applied to join the BRICS. China has already made its intention clear by pushing for the expansion of this grouping to build as a rival of G7. In terms of global GDP Share BRICS have already overtaken the G7.

The leaders from 50 different countries will join the member countries in the meeting, except Vladimir Putin, Russia’s president, who is joining the summit virtually. Intels report suggested that “Russia, China and the Global South are lining up against the G7.” The BRICS agenda is no longer on the West’s mind. None of the members of this group chose sanctions against Russia or condemned it in the United Nations. In addition, the BRICS countries have talked about dismantling the dollar, which would weaken the role of the US dollar as the global default currency.

The 23 countries that have formally applied to join the organisation are; Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

The BRICS nations appeared to accept the absence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Due to strong pressure from the West and findings from local courts, South Africa suspended hosting Putin after putting up a brave front. The International Criminal Court is behind Putin, and as a signatory to the treaty, South Africa is bound to arrest him. As a result, just as in the G20 summit in Bali last year, Putin will virtually join the summit, while the Russian delegation will be led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Ministry of External Affairs diplomat Dammu Ravi while addressing a BRICS seminar in Johannesburg, said “The countries are trying to join the BRICS to complete the unfinished business of the last century. He explained that the unfinished business was seeking economic advantage after successfully fighting for its freedom and independence from colonial rule. So as we experience economic growth, we must also ensure that it brings prosperity to all our people. As the nations spread, the desire to be part of (BRICS) spreads. Therefore, 23 countries apply to join the BRICS.”

Kailash Kher: The Deep Indian Roots that Gained Bollywood Stardom & Beyond

Preyensha Srivastava |

When we dive into the world of iconic Indian vocalists, those who stir our emotions and transport us to ethereal realms, the name that readily springs to mind is none other than Kailash Kher. This Indian musical composer and singer crafts tunes that are deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Indian folk and Sufi music. Growing up in Nirgun Sangeet, Kailash’s childhood was infused with the rhythms of his father, Pandit Meher Singh Kher, and the spiritual wisdom of luminaries like Saint Kabir, Shri Guru Nanak, Saint Ravidas, and Guru Gorakhnath.

In 2017, Kailash Kher was honored with the esteemed Padma Shri award by the Indian government. His remarkable talent led to not one, but two Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer, one for the Hindi film ‘Fanaa’  (2006) and another for the Telugu film “Mirchi” (2013), accompanied by numerous other nominations. With his commanding vocals and distinctive musical approach, Kher has undeniably cemented his position as one of India’s foremost and most loved playback singers.

Kailash Kher’s road to Bollywood stardom was anything but easy. Yet, when his moment came, he dazzled! His breakout track “Rabba Ishq Na Hove” from ‘Andaaz’ grabbed attention, but it was ‘Allah Ke Bande’ from the lesser-known ‘Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II’ that cemented his star status, but to be honest that song does hit home. Beyond singing, he’s showcased his musical prowess in hits like ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ and ‘Dasvidaniya’, even penning lyrics for films like ‘Kaal’ and ‘Traffic Signal’. Kher’s journey proves that when passion meets opportunity it creates magic!

By 2014, he had given songs in over 20 Indian languages, from Malayalam to Rajasthani, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Sindhi, Gujarathi! With over 500 Bollywood tracks and a whopping 1,000+ radio and TV jingles to his name, his talent is mind-blowing. Remember the OG songs like ‘Teri Deewani’, ‘Saiyyan’, and ‘Piya Ghar Aavenge’? Pure gold! This man is the real GOAT!

Chandrayaan-3 shares the images of landing site

Arsh Verma |

On August 23, Chandrayaan-3, a much-anticipated space mission from India, will touch down on the Moon. The Indian Space Agency has released a photo of the lander (Vikram) securing its landing area ahead of Wednesday’s moon mission. “These are the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera (LHDAC) photos of the Lunar far side region. During the descent, this camera helps find a secure landing spot free of stones and deep pits,” the ISRO posted on X, previously known as Twitter. The final stage of deboosting was completed on Sunday Morning, and the Spacecraft is scheduled to land on August 23 at 6:04 pm (IST).

Since its launch, the journey of Chandrayaan-3 has been extraordinary. Looking at the Mission’s trajectory, the Lunar craft underwent tests on July 7 to assure flawless operation. The LVM3M4 spacecraft was ultimately launched into orbit on July 14, 2023, from Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota’s second launch pad, following a 24-hour launch rehearsal on July 11. The Mission completed its initial orbit-raising maneuver the day after launch, reaching a height of 41762 km x 173 km. On July 17, Chandrayaan-3 underwent its second orbit-raising maneuver, which raised its orbit to one that measured 41603 km x 226 km. The fourth and fifth orbit-raising maneuvers were successfully achieved between the 22nd and 25th of July respectively.

On 1st August, the Spacecraft finally entered the Lunar Orbit at a height of 288 km x 369328 km. The Spacecraft reached the Lunar orbit on August 5 at a distance of 164 km by 18074 km. On August 6, the spacecraft’s orbit around the Moon decreased to 170 km x 4,313 km. On August 9, a second maneuver was carried out to reduce the Spacecraft to an Orbit of 174 km by 1437 km. On August 14, the mission reached the 151 x 179-kilometer orbit circularization phase. August 16: The spacecraft’s orbit after the discharge was 153 km by 163 km. On August 17, the landing module, which included the Pragyan rover and the Vikram lander, was freed from its propulsion system.

On August 18, the Spacecraft successfully carried out a ‘deboosting’ operation that shortened its orbit to 113 km x 157 km. Deboosting is the process of reducing speed to achieve an orbit where the Perilune (the point closest to the Moon) and Apolune (the furthest point) are 30 km and 100 km, respectively. Chandrayaan-3’s final deboost operation, which reduced the LM orbit to 25 km by 134 km, was finished on August 20. India would desperately want the lander to successfully land on 23rd August as this may make the Country the first to land on the South Pole of the moon as Russia’s Luna-25 crashed on the surface of the Moon. This achievement may also boost ISRO’s confidence.

Understanding the Technical Mechanics of Commission-Free Cryptocurrencies

sachin |

Cryptocurrencies have revolutionized the financial landscape, offering decentralized and borderless transactions. Among these digital assets, commission-free cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Monero, and Litecoin stand out for their ability to facilitate transactions without the need for intermediaries. To truly appreciate their significance, it’s essential to delve into the intricate technical mechanics that power these digital marvels. In this blog, we’ll embark on a fascinating journey into the heart of commission-free cryptocurrencies, exploring their blockchain foundations, cryptographic elements, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, privacy  enhancements, scalability solutions, and much more.

Blockchain Foundations

At the core of commission-free cryptocurrencies at Yale cm lies the revolutionary technology known as the blockchain. A blockchain is a decentralized and tamper-resistant digital ledger that records all transactions across a network of computers (nodes). The key components that underpin this technology are:

● Decentralized Ledgers: Unlike traditional centralized ledgers, commission-free cryptocurrencies operate on a decentralized ledger shared among network participants. This ensures transparency, security, and immutability of transactions. Each participant has access to the complete transaction history, enhancing trust and accountability.

● Consensus Mechanisms: At the heart of any blockchain, consensus mechanisms determine how transactions are verified and added to the blockchain. Bitcoin, the pioneering cryptocurrency, employs proof-of-work (PoW), where miners compete to solve complex mathematical puzzles to validate transactions and secure the network. In contrast, proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanisms, used by currencies like Monero and Litecoin, assign the right to validate transactions based on the amount of cryptocurrency held by a participant. This energy-efficient approach has gained popularity due to its reduced environmental impact.

Cryptographic Building Blocks

Robust cryptographic principles are essential to ensure the security and privacy of commission-free cryptocurrencies:

● Public and Private Keys: Every user in the network possesses a pair of cryptographic keys – a public key and a private key. The public key serves as an address to receive cryptocurrency, while the private key, kept confidential, is used to sign transactions and prove ownership. This asymmetric encryption ensures the security and integrity of transactions.

● Hash Functions: Hash functions play a pivotal role in maintaining data integrity within a blockchain. Transactions are hashed to create a fixed-length string of characters, making it virtually impossible to reverse-engineer the original data. Even a minor change in the input data results in a vastly different hash, alerting the network to potential tampering.

Peer-to-Peer Network Architecture

The peer-to-peer (P2P) network architecture is a cornerstone of commission-free cryptocurrencies:

● Node Communication: Nodes in the network communicate directly with one another, sharing transaction information and blocks. This decentralized approach enhances network resilience and security, as there’s no central point of failure. Each node acts as an independent validator, contributing to the overall consensus process.

● Synchronization: Nodes work collaboratively to maintain a synchronized and up-to-date copy of the blockchain. This synchronization prevents double-spending and ensures the accuracy of transactions. Trust is established through the verification process across multiple nodes.

Transaction Lifecycle

Understanding the transaction lifecycle sheds light on how commission-free cryptocurrencies function:

● Initiation: A user creates a transaction, specifying the recipient’s public key and the amount of cryptocurrency to be sent.
● Verification: Miners (in PoW) or validators (in PoS) verify the transaction’s legitimacy and whether the sender has sufficient funds.

● Inclusion in a Block: Once verified, the transaction is added to a block along with other validated transactions.
● Proof of Work (PoW): In PoW systems like Bitcoin, miners compete to solve a complex mathematical puzzle. The first miner to solve it gets the right to add the block to the blockchain and is rewarded with newly minted cryptocurrency.
● Proof of Stake (PoS): In PoS systems, validators are chosen based on the amount of cryptocurrency they ‘stake’ as collateral. This approach is more energy-efficient compared to PoW.

Consensus Mechanisms

Consensus mechanisms are pivotal in ensuring network integrity and preventing fraudulent activities:

● Proof of Work (PoW): PoW ensures security by requiring miners to solve complex puzzles, making it computationally expensive to launch attacks on the network. The competitive nature of PoW rewards miners for dedicating computational power to the network.

● Proof of Stake (PoS): PoS enhances energy efficiency by replacing miners with validators, who are selected to create new blocks based on the cryptocurrency they hold as collateral. This approach is beneficial for the environment and ensures a more equitable distribution of rewards.

Smart Contracts and Scripting Languages

Smart contracts enable automated, self-executing agreements without intermediaries:

● Smart Contracts: These are self-executing contracts with predefined rules. For instance, a smart contract could be programmed to release funds to a seller only when a buyer confirms receipt of goods. This feature opens the door to a wide array of applications beyond simple transactions, including decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and more.

● Scripting Languages: Languages like Solidity (Ethereum), Bitcoin Script, and Litecoin’s M-Addresses facilitate the creation and execution of smart contracts. These languages enable developers to define the conditions and logic governing the execution of contract terms.

Privacy Enhancements

Privacy is a critical concern in the world of cryptocurrencies but everything is secured at Yalelodge:

● Ring Signatures (Monero): Monero uses ring signatures to obfuscate transaction origins, making it difficult to trace sender identities. This technique combines the sender’s transaction with a set of others, effectively hiding the true source of funds.

● CoinJoin (Bitcoin): CoinJoin is a technique that combines multiple transactions into a single transaction, enhancing privacy by mixing inputs and outputs. It makes it challenging to determine which outputs correspond to which inputs, increasing the anonymity of participants.

Scalability Solutions

Scalability challenges are addressed through innovative solutions:

● Segregated Witness (SegWit): SegWit separates transaction data from signature data, increasing transaction capacity and mitigating malleability issues. This solution not only boosts scalability but also
enhances the overall security of the network.

● Lightning Network: An off-chain scaling solution, the Lightning Network enables fast and low-cost transactions by conducting most transactions off the main blockchain. It uses payment channels that allow participants to conduct numerous transactions without overwhelming the main blockchain.

Cross-Chain Compatibility and Atomic Swaps

Cross-chain compatibility and atomic swaps enable interoperability between different cryptocurrencies:
● Cross-Chain Compatibility: This refers to the ability of different blockchains to communicate and share data seamlessly. Interoperability is crucial for realizing the full potential of decentralized applications and financial systems.

● Atomic Swaps: Atomic swaps allow users to exchange different cryptocurrencies without the need for intermediaries directly. This technology is based on cryptographic principles and smart contracts, ensuring secure and trustless transactions across different blockchains.

Decentralized Governance and Upgrades

Decentralized governance ensures the evolution of cryptocurrencies:

● Decentralized Decision-Making: Community members and stakeholders have a say in protocol upgrades, ensuring a distributed decision-making process. This approach prevents the concentration of power and promotes the interests of the entire network.

● Examples: Dash’s master node network and Ethereum’s ongoing transition to Ethereum 2.0 showcase how decentralized governance models can lead to innovative upgrades and improvements that align
with the community’s vision.
