The talent scouting event organized by Delhi Sports University was successfully held on the 20th and 21st of June at Thyagaraj Sports Complex, Delhi. It attracted a significant number of young sports enthusiasts from all over Delhi NCR. The event, which was open to students for classes 6th to 9th, provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their skills in various sports disciplines, including Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling, and Lawn Tennis.

During the event, the students underwent comprehensive assessments in their chosen sports. This included 11 motor quality tests, using a range of devices and technologies such as RFID, as well as specialized exercises unique to each sport. Additionally, advanced psychometric tests were conducted to evaluate the athletes’ focus and attention levels.

Dr. Karnam Malleswari, Vice Chancellor of Delhi Sports University, warmly welcomed the young talent to the talent scouting camps and encouraged them to seize the opportunity. Dr. Malleswari expressed the university’s commitment to identifying and nurturing young talent in India, emphasizing the country’s immense potential. Working at the grassroots level, she believed, was crucial to developing young athletes. The National talent scouting drive aimed to discover deserving and talented children who could contribute to Delhi Sports University’s objective of elevating India’s sports scenario. The university aspired to support and empower young talent, enabling them to become the next sports icons of India.

The event was organized with the purpose of identifying young sporting talent and providing them with opportunities to showcase their skills and get entry into the Delhi Sports School. The top 200 students who will be selected from the final round of talent scouting will get admission to Delhi Sports School. The program offers admission, education, accommodation, and world-class facilities to help students become the next sports icon of India, all supported by the Delhi Sports School.

Get ready for a blockbuster record! Rajinikanth’s action-packed film, Jailer is gearing up to smash past the ₹300 crore milestone at the local box office this Friday. According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the movie raked in an impressive ₹3 crore from all the language versions on its third Thursday alone. This boost propels its overall Indian earnings to a staggering ₹298.75 crore. The excitement is building as it inches closer to the epic ₹300 crore mark. 

Box office collection 

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, ‘Jailer,’ stormed into the limelight with a jaw-dropping ₹48 crore on its opening day, setting a record that still stands as its highest single-day earnings. Even though Thursday saw the film’s collection hit its lowest point, it continued to make waves. Within its premiere week, it amassed a remarkable ₹235.85 crore, further soaring to ₹295.65 crore by the close of its second week at the domestic box office across all languages. This Tamil masterpiece transcended language barriers, being dubbed and released in Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu. Its theatrical release on August 10, just ahead of “Gadar 2” and “OMG 2,” made a statement. 

Amidst his North vacation, Rajinikanth graced a special screening in Lucknow. While talking to ANI he stated, “It’s a divine blessing that the movie is turning into a smashing hit.”

The countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa made the much-anticipated announcement of the grouping’s expansion on Thursday. 

According to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, and Ethiopia will join BRICS. The six nations are anticipated to join the organisation on January 1, 2024. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the extension of the five-nation bloc, saying that it will strengthen the faith of many nations in a multipolar international order.

In the middle of the 2000s, BRICS was founded by four nations. The first presidents’ summit of the BRICS countries took place in Russia in 2009. South Africa was added to the BRICS in 2010.

This action could pave the way for several interested nations to join a coalition dedicated to advancing the interests of the “Global South.”

The extension of the BRICS membership has always had India’s complete support, as was previously stated, Prime Minister Modi said during a press conference with the other BRICS leaders. 

In addition to congratulating the nations who had joined the BRICS, the PM expressed his satisfaction with the teams’ ability to reach consensus on the expansion’s guiding principles, norms, criteria, and procedures. 

India and China were said to be at odds over the expansion of the BRICS. According to experts, China may be attempting to woo a number of nations that share its sceptical view of the West. 

Chinese officials were mentioned in some publications before the meeting, which is taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, as saying that the BRICS should unite to compete with the G7. 

India’s position on enlargement

India pushed for the establishment of policies and processes that would control which nations might join the BRICS, even though it had not blocked the BRICS’ expansion. Over 20 nations have submitted applications to join BRICS, according to South African authorities who spoke before the summit. Rumoured names included, among others, Cuba, the Comoros, Bolivia, Algeria, and Indonesia. 

On Thursday at the 69th National Awards, “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” won Best Film Award. The prizes, originally called as “State Awards,” were presented for the first time in 1954. Only the best films in various regional languages were recognized and honoured at the time. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr has made a dramatic entrance in this season’s AFC Champions League group stage just at the right moment. The Saudi Pro League made an amazing comeback with a 4-2 beat that was faced by Shabab Al Ahli (Dubai-based club) on Tuesday, 22 August in Mrsool Park.
