Three tri-service intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance command centres will be established, one in the south and two in the north, with a focus on India’s northern borders, particularly the one with China. India will purchase 31 high altitude long endurance (HALE) drones from the US in phases, according to people familiar with the matter, with the first batch of 10 drones being unarmed.

On June 15, a tri-service proposal to purchase 31 drones, including 15 MQ9B Sea Guardian and 16 Sky Guardian drones from the US, was authorised by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), which is chaired by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. While the Sky Guardian drones will be deployed to protect the land borders, the Sea Guardian drones will be in charge of the maritime domain’s awareness and surveillance. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US this week, the over $3 billion procurement through US foreign military sales, or the government-to-government method, will be approved.

While bilateral relations between India and the US are about to take an orbital leap, the first shipment of drones will only contain 10 units, with armaments and missiles to follow later. According to the reports, all drones will have nine hard points which will have the capability to carry missiles and laser-guided bombs. The Narendra Modi administration won’t buy all the drones and weaponry off the shelf; instead, the agreement will include a localization component that will allow drones to be equipped with Indian-made munitions. As not every drone needs to be armed, HT finds that purchasing missiles and bombs for the drones will be the second step in the overall process. The individuals noted, preferring to remain anonymous, that it is also feasible that not all drones will be produced in the US.

From INS Rajali in Tamil Nadu, India leased two Sea Guardian drones from the company General Atomics, and the military has first-hand experience operating a HALE drone with a 40-hour endurance. The performance of rented drones, which offer real-time marine domain awareness from Southeast Asia to Africa, has pleased the Indian Navy. The 31 drones will not be dispersed equally and will all be operating under a tri-service command, according to the sources. Under the direction of the future theatre commanders and the permanent chairman of the chiefs of staff committee, the three operational centres will establish mission-specific duties.

The Flash is a 2023 American superhero movie based on the same-named DC Comics character. Ezra Miller plays Barry Allen/The Flash in this stand-alone movie from the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which also stars Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Maribel Verd, and Ron Livingston. In the movie, Barry goes back in time to stop his mother’s murder but unintentionally changes history so that he is the only superhero still alive.

Fans of the character will enjoy the entertaining, frantic, and aesthetically spectacular The Flash. Miller is fantastic as Barry Allen, and he gives the part a lot of heart and humour. As their contrasting portrayals of Batman, Keaton and Affleck are both excellent, and Calle makes a lasting impact as Supergirl. After a tanker truck fire caused a section of Interstate 95 to collapse in Philadelphia on Sunday, officials rushed to set up alternative transportation for Monday morning commuters. This severe damage to the main route along the East Coast might take months to fix. No reports of injuries or deaths related to the highway collapse have occurred. However, it was still unclear if anyone was trapped inside the blazing commercial tanker truck transporting around a hundred gallons of combustible liquid or oil. Thick smoke from the area was visible after the explosion, and it took almost an hour to clear it. In addition to that, drivers have been requested to avoid the route. 

 At a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro revealed that the truck was still buried beneath the crumbled highway. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll says some 160,000 vehicles commute on the now-demolished road daily, making it ‘likely the busiest interstate in the area.’ Shapiro described seeing ‘remarkable devastation’ during a flypast of the incident and stated, “I found myself giving thanks to the Lord that there were no injuries or fatalities among the drivers on I-95.” The fire’s fury destroyed the northern-bound lanes. Shapiro claims the southbound lanes suffered damage and were not structurally fine to carry any traffic. He stated that repairing the highway would probably take several months; thus, his office was investigating “alternatives to connect the roadway beyond detours.”

The governor stated that he would declare a disaster on Monday, allowing the state to quickly access federal funding, avoid bureaucratic delays, and reconstruct this road. He claimed that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg assured him. “Secretary Buttigieg has assured me that there would be no delays in deploying federal funds to help us reconstruct this crucial artery as soon as possible. Undoubtedly, I-95 is a vital highway that helps develop our economy and people’s daily lives,” Shapiro stated.

 Investigations are being done on the fire’s origin. Firefighters were still on the scene as a precaution despite the fire being out by Sunday afternoon because of the large volume of product that was involved, according to Philadelphia Fire Department Deputy Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson. Going by Carroll’s statement, crews did clear the collapsed portion of the road throughout the night.
