Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three-day visit to the violence-hit Manipur. Shah, during his visit to the North-eastern state, met people from various Civil Societies and appealed for restoring peace.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister landed in Imphal on Monday night at around 9:20 pm and was received by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Shah held a meeting with the State Cabinet and took cognizance of the deteriorating situation in the North-eastern state. The Home Minister also held several rounds of talks with the stakeholders and assured every cooperation to restore the peace along with assuring both Meiteis and Kukis of an amicable solution to the standoff. 

The Union Minister for Home Affairs also met several representatives of civil society from the valley as well as the hills. From women representatives of the Ima market to intellectuals of Meira Paibi (Women torch bearers), Shah gave a peaceful hearing to the demands of each and every side. Top Sources also stated that along with the establishment of complete peace and calm in Manipur, Shah has also stressed on other crucial points. Sources further added that Shah said that a CBI enquiry will also be initiated if it is required in certain cases. As per top sources privy to the recent development, Shah has stated that he will likely again come to the state in the month of June and that he will  himself monitor the situation on the ground.

On his third day of the visit, Shah is slated to visit the regions adjoining the Myanmar Border. Shah would be visiting the worst affected areas of Moreih and Kangpokpi. After he returns to Imphal, Shah will again hold a meeting in the capital before heading to the National Capital.

The total death toll from clashes since ethnic rioting began on May 3 has gone up to 80 according to state officials with three people succumbing to injuries on Monday and two being killed by firing by militants on Sunday.

Love, being with someone or the feeling of having a partner is considered to be one of the most beautiful things. However, with love comes a lot of things including misunderstandings, heartbreaks, conflicts of interest, etcetera, because all these glitters are not always gold. Sometimes people even grow apart and that is okay but it sucks to see some people forcing each other to stay in a relationship even though it is not working out. More than that, these days one thing that has been witnessing rapid growth is individuals murdering their exes. Recently one such case yet again happened when on Sunday, in front of the public, a 16-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in Shahbad Dairy in the suburbs of Delhi.

A 20-year-old AC mechanic, Sahil allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old girl to death and upon interrogation, the Delhi police got to know that he had purchased the knife used in the murder from Haridwar on Friday. The knife allegedly used to kill her has not yet been found by police.  They further told that the girl was ending their relationship, which enraged him. According to authorities, an argument between them on Thursday served as the catalyst for the murder.

The question is does a breakup justify murder? Is that what we have been teaching our children? And no we cannot blame teen love for that because some time back a boyfriend murdered his girlfriend who he used to stay in a live-in with because she asked him to marry her. So it is not age’s fault but where are we as a society lagging? Who is giving these murderers the audacity to kill someone just because they rejected their love? Is that the upbringing people are getting?

The funnier thing is that this murder was done in broad daylight and not even a single individual came forward to help the girl. Are we always going to act woke when something hideous happens and not actually provide help when it is needed?  On Sunday evening, the girl was en route to the birthday celebration for the son of a female friend of hers when Sahil allegedly blocked her and fatally stabbed her in front of over a dozen witnesses while they stood nearby and did nothing. CCTV footage shows Sahil repeatedly hitting the girl’s head with a brick, kicking and stomping her, and stabbing her 16 times.

Locals claimed they were too afraid of the assault to confront Sahil, and the area’s reputation for suspected street crimes caused them to stay away. The girl was found dead in the street with half of her body in a drain when the initial call to the police came in about 25 minutes after the crime. She was killed only a few metres away from her home. 

About 18 hours after the murder that was documented on camera (ya there was a camera still he murdered her), Sahil was arrested in his hometown of Bulandshahr on Monday. He was brought from Bulandshahr during the course of the night and shown before a court in Delhi on Tuesday, after which he was reportedly given two days in police custody.

 The victim’s mother has requested a death penalty for Sahil who resided with his family around three kilometres away from the girl’s home. What else can a mother whose child has been killed in broad daylight do? An incident like this always raises so many questions in our minds. Is anyone ever safe? Is loving someone a crime? Is moving on from someone not okay? Well, in the end, all we can hope is that the girl and her family get the justice they deserve!

Apart from great captaincy throughout the match, Ravindra Jadeja’s last-ball four off of Mohit Sharma’s final pitch sealed a historic victory for Chennai. Heavy weather forced the suspension of the summit match, and Chennai was given a revised target of 171 in 15 overs; this included 4 powerplay overs and a bowler limit of 3 overs, with both timeouts remaining in effect.

Conway and Ruturaj, the opening pair for CSK, attacked GT’s star-studded bowling lineup with ruthless abandon. By dismissing both of CSK’s openers in the same over, Noor Ahmad assisted GT in turning things around. The next guy in, Ajinkya Rahane, blasted some elegant fours and sixes to increase the run pace. In the final Rashid Khan over, Rahane’s partner Dube, who had originally struggled, ultimately got his footing and smacked Rahane for two sixes. In the 13th over, Rayudu’s late flourish—two sixes and a four—got CSK back into the match. Rayudu was struck out, while Dhoni was out after the first pitch. Everything came down to CSK needing 13 runs off of the final 6 balls.

MS Dhoni called Gujarat Titans to bat first earlier in Ahmedabad after choosing to toss. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha, the home team’s openers, gave them a strong start, giving them the upper hand and momentum from the very beginning of their innings. Shubman Gill was dropped by Chahar on 2, literally, a dolly. Following that, Gill continued to smash some impressive fours and sixes, assisting GT in scoring 30 runs off the third and fourth overs combined. 

Saha went on to make a fifty, but it was uncapped Indian batter Sai Sudharsan’s batting heroics that proved to be the real game-changer as the missed run-out opportunity proved to be too costly for CSK. Sai continued to score boundaries no matter whatever bowler he was up against. Sadly, he failed to score a well-deserved hundred but did remarkably well.

In an IPL final, chasing down the 215-run total was always a monumental challenge for CSK. The highest IPL final total to date was set by GT for CSK in the first innings. The highest total ever chased in an IPL Final was 200 by KKR against Punjab in 2014.
