Burlington Chocolate launches India’s first, preservative free Dark Chocolate Fitness Bars

The India Saga Saga |

“We are the only brand in India which makes fitness Chocolate bars for the fitness buffs,” says Nishit Shaw from Burlington Chocolate.

This quirky statement piqued our curiosity, Why would fitness buffs consume chocolate, Would it not hinder their diet and goals? We interacted with Mr. Nishit Shaw, the CEO of Burlington Chocolate to unearth this daredevil venture of his. He quoted “When you treat your body like a temple, you yearn to give it only the best fuel to keep it going. This motivated us to go an extra mile for all those fitness buffs as we induced our ultra-luxury Chocolate with Whey Protein to make it Plus Ultra Luxury fitness Chocolate bars having the nutrient components of 20gm of protein, 32 gm of carbs of which 22gm is Fibre, 24 gm of fat, with 0 gm of added sugar, reaching a total sum of 424 Calories, which when compared to your everyday Chocolate is a marvel for your health.”

It seemed like India finally got its revelation to a fitness euphoric world, which no longer remains an oasis but a dream soon to become a reality. But it only paved way for the question, If fitness buffs treat their body as a temple, wouldn’t it hurt if they consume a packaged food instead of something fresh and homemade? When asked upon this to Mr. Nishit Shaw, he quoted. “You see, this is the beauty of Burlington Chocolate, we are the freshest Chocolate brand in India for a reason, we start making the chocolate only when the order comes in and customize it as well as per our customer’s request, which is why our Chocolate does not come with an expiry date, rather it comes with a message – To satiate your quench for a sweet tooth with the freshest and healthiest Chocolate bar in India.”

Truly an inspirational and insightful road Burlington Chocolate has taken to reach the kingdom of glory. But the matter of concern was the price. Can Burlington Chocolate be affordable as an everyday Chocolate or will it have more affinity with functions and parties? In conversation with Mr. Jayesh Kajaria the R&D Head regarding this matter, he helped us remove this stone in our mind, he quoted. “When you launch an ultra-luxury Chocolate bar and target every demographics and lifestyle including the fitness buffs, you have an obligation towards them to give them the freshest and a healthful product at an economical price. The reason being we don’t want price to be a barrier in our journey of changing the paradigm from a dream to a reality of the freshest and healthiest Chocolate available in the Indian market.”

Ziqitza Healthcare leading emergency healthcare share some insights on Hepatitis& COVID-19

The India Saga Saga |

World Hepatitis Day is observed on 28th July every year by World Health Organization. The WHO theme of the World Hepatitis Day 2021 is “Hepatitis cant’s wait”. With a person dying every 30 seconds from a hepatitis-related illness – even in the current COVID-19 crisis – we cannot wait to act on viral hepatitis. Remarked by Dr Santosh Datar from Ziqitza Healthcare Limited.

Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. The liver is the chemical laboratory of the body. We cannot live without a functioning liver. It performs various functions such as a role in food and drug metabolism, digestion, storage, production of important nutrients, protection against infections, breakdown of waste products and detoxification of poisons.  The liver has an amazing healing capacity. However, hepatitis which becomes chronic can cause life-threatening conditions such as cirrhosis, liver failure and liver cancer. Viral infections and alcohol are the commonest cause of Hepatitis, further explained by Dr Datar from Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd.

Experts from Ziqitza highlights some Common causes of Hepatitis are:

  1. Infections: Viruses viz. Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E, other viruses, bacteria and parasites
  2. Alcohol
  3. Toxins: Various drugs, chemicals, poisons and herbs
  4. Fatty Liver Disease: Excessive fat deposition in the liver due associated with obesity and high lipid levels
  5. Autoimmune: Body’s immune system attacks the liver.

Dr Datar from Ziqitza advises on the following tips to reduce the risk of hepatitis

Hepatitis A & E, other water and foodborne infections Ensure that you drink safe water. Avoid roadside exposed food items Cover food items to prevent contamination from housefliesWash raw vegetable items well before eating Wash your hands thoroughly before eating Cook your food well Vaccinations for hepatitis A and typhoid can be taken with your doctor’s advice
Hepatitis B, C and D Avoid exposure of bare skin and mucosa to body fluids of others practice safe sex. Use a condom safe blood transfusionFollow safe injection practice hepatitis B vaccine can be taken with your doctor’s adviceScreening of pregnant women and treatment to prevent mother to child transmission
Alcohol Avoid alcohol. It not only damages your liver but almost all systems in the body including the heart, brain, pancreas and nerves. It is also a risk factor for many cancers. If you still want to consume it, limit your intake. Talk to your doctor about it.
Toxins Do not take medicines on your own always follow the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor for any medicineControl your exposure to chemicals at the workplace. Follow the safety rules diligently not take herbal preparations and nutritional supplements without consulting your doctor. Everything herbal is not safe. Keep all medicines and chemicals away from children to prevent accidental ingestion
Fatty Liver Disease Reduce weight if overweight or obese. Maintain optimum weight control your blood sugar, blood pressure and lipid levels exercise regularly have a nutritious and well-balanced diet avoids food items high in sugar and fatsRegular health checkups as per the advice of your doctor
Autoimmune Since the cause is not known, it is difficult to prevent it.

Vaccination for Prevention of Hepatitis

Currently, effective vaccinations are available for Hepatitis-A and Hepatitis-B. However, they must be given under medical supervision. It is important to stay fit mentally & physically, maintain your weight, keep blood pressure and blood sugar under control and take vaccination & take care of all the above measures. Similar thoughts were voiced by experts at Ziqitza limited Rajasthan.

Dr. Santosh Datar from Ziqitza Healthcare Ltd highlights the Hepatitis-B vaccine schedule in the following table: –

Age Group Dose Time Description
Newborn child   (As per Government of India Immunization Schedule) First dose At birth or as early as possible within 24 hours Hepatitis-B vaccine
Second dose 6 weeks In form of pentavalent vaccine (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Hemophilus Influenza Type B and Hepatitis-B)
Third dose 10 weeks
Fourth dose 14 weeks

Adult First dose Hepatitis-B vaccine
Second dose 1 month after first dose
Third dose 6 months after first dose

Hepatitis-A vaccine schedule is as follows: –

Age Group Dose Time Description
Children First dose At 1 year Hepatitis-A vaccine
Second dose 12 months after first dose

Adult First dose Hepatitis-A vaccine
Second dose 6 – 12 months after first dose

Protect your liver. If it is damaged beyond repair, quality of life will be extremely poor and the only treatment is a liver transplant.

Sabarna is one of the winners of the Champions of Change 2020 Award given out by Interactive Forum on Indian Economy supported by Government of India, and one of the Economic Times Newsmakers (East Zone) of 2021.

Very recently, the last literary work of Sabarna Roy, titled: Fractured Mosaic has been converted into an Amazon Audible book by the American elocutionist, Grant Tharp and released in the USA and UK markets. Earlier, Sabarna’s two more literary works, Pentacles and Winter Poems were converted into Amazon Audible books by the Australian jazz singer, Colin Newcomer. Perhaps, Sabarna is the first author from the Eastern India whose book was converted into an Amazon Audible book in the year way back in 2014.

The unsung intermittent rains; the sometimes-drenched-and-sometimes-arid winding and crumbling streets – gaping craters and potholes; the melancholy crows, common mynas, swallows and sparrows hanging on wires and hopping on fields (yet to be grazed by real-estate agents) – restless – at the inconstancy of rains; the transgender beggars at street-corners – half-drenched, sick of cough and cold – banging tirelessly on the closed windows of sedans; the concrete and steel portals ever-changing, ever-transcending the city skyline; the sky – once full of gray clouds fleeting across and threatening to pour and once looking like the autumnal sky; the breeze like the slow tempo of a saxophone starting; the aroma-king-lemon trees, the mango trees, the amra trees, the kalo jam trees, the jamrul trees, the fig trees, the batabi-lemon trees of the village woods on the east of our apartment-building – green, fresh and ripe; the simmering heat trapping like the vision of a Siberian tiger: jazz-up together to form a mysterious song in my soul.

To listen to this song more closely I walk the whole day like an abandoned wayfarer through crowds of unknown people. I do not give up. I keep on walking. For it is the walk that liberates the orchestra playing in my soul – a kind of music I had heard at a jazz bar in Damascus long before the fiasco in Syria was to begin.

In the evening I stop at the Starbucks at City Center I finally; well I have been feeling hungry and thirsty for a very long time I recall. I order for a Chicken Mozzarella Turnover, a Vanilla Cruffin, a small cappuccino and a bottle of water. Waiting for my food to cool down (I cannot have things too hot) I reply to my publisher on messenger: I will definitely send my manuscript consisting of my writings between 2012 and 2018 by September end – a compilation of tiny stories, tiny reflective notes on recurrent thoughts and current issues and a few narrative poems. Then I began to think, where should I park myself to assemble my scattered writings. I concluded, of course, a luxury hotel at Dharamshala – Mcleodganj, would be a perfect place.

I have taken a decision: This time around I will be involved in aggressive marketing of my book. In spite of nil publicity and networking, clubbing and I-pat-you-and-you-pat-me from my end (also because I have been acutely lonely all my life), not conforming to the instructions and advice of my publisher, my earlier 4 books ran to second editions – all of them. I have always believed writers should do nothing but write. They should not even defend their works. What to talk of publicity? But then who cares what I believe in. Looking at the trend on social media in the last few years I have decided to change for worse.

In good and bad films including, a common metaphor is often used to depict the journey of life: moving trains rapidly changing tracks. Trains change tracks to a given plan and order. In life, it does not happen that way. We choose and abandon random paths, however much we would like to believe it is the outcome of our own volition. In American Beauty there is a wonderful scene of a plastic bag flying in the wind to the wind’s fancy. Life, retrospectively, is almost like that.

”The Pandemic Is A Good Break To Start Fresh” says 23 Year Old Entrepreneur

The India Saga Saga |

Atreya Barad is a 23 year old Entrepreneur from the beautiful state of Goa. He is the Co-owner of Bee Kay Enterprises, started by his father Mr. Mahendra Barad. Bee Kay Enterprises deals with water and construction material supply. They also provide Earthmoving machineries for hire. Their business is one of the few businesses that have been out there serving people in the entire lockdown.

‘’The pandemic slowed down our businesses but we are grateful we could serve people in these times’’ says Atreya. Paying our workers was a big challenge for us just like everyone. Keeping the challenges aside we got to learn a lot and get time to correct things and get better at few things.

Sharpening your axes before cutting a tree or getting your nets proper before fishing is really important, and this time is that opportunity for businesses to do the same. There were some things that needed our attention but we couldn’t give that time in the pre pandemic times. In this pandemic we got that time to set those things in place.

Few of the changes we made in this lockdown

  1. Branding the leader as well as the business:  Most of our customers have come from word of mouth and my father got referrals. All this while we did not advertise our brand. Most of our customers recognize our company by my father’s name. Along with the leader the brand also needs to be promoted, and this is what we will be doing henceforth. Having the branding in place helps the companies leverage its experience for generations.
  • Having Standard Operating Procedures Are Important: Lot of businesses ignore this but it is really important. We see brands like McDonalds and Dominos everywhere around us, these businesses have a standard or a preset way of operations that helps them maintain and multiply their services everywhere around the world. We are looking forward to build it in our organization.

The pandemic has brought the best out of us. We always were on field executing stuff this was a great opportunity to sit back and observe. In terms of learning as well this time was a good opportunity. We are all set to get bigger and better.
