1 Killed and 150 injured in Farmers Tractor Parade

The India Saga Saga |

New Delhi: After two months of peaceful protest, yesterday, the capital witnessed violent scenes during the farmers’ tractor rally. Several cases of clashes with the policemen and broken barricades were reported all across the city.

Reportedly, a protester died when his tractor overturned while ramming a road barrier at ITO. Along with it at least 150 police personnel got injured as mobs resorted to violence and vandalism while they attempted to enter the capital forcefully during the Republic Day parade.

While some parts of the capital reported peaceful protests by the farmers, other parts of the city saw farmers fencing against the cops, and cops responding with Lathi Charge and Tear gas.

Starting from all the border points, farmers had initially announced to start the tractor parade post the Republic Day Parade and they had assured that it would be peaceful. But the protest not only started earlier than the decided time, but also became violent. The farmers stormed the Red Fort and caused harm to heritage buildings like the Red Fort.

As the night fell, the Red Fort was again secured completely, the flags hoisted by farmers were removed, and protesters were made to vacate the premises.

Speaking to the media, Delhi police said the clashes had led to “extensive damage to public property” and injuries to “many policemen.”

Along with this, Samyukta Kisan Morcha has issued a statement distancing itself from the ‘violent elements’. The farmer body strongly condemned the incidents, and called off the tractor rally with immediate effect while maintaining that the movement will continue peacefully.

Farmer leaders have also announced a plan to march on foot to Parliament on February 1, the day the Union Budget will be presented to protest against the three farm laws passed by the Centre.

Farmers prepare for Tractor Parade on Republic Day

The India Saga Saga |

Farmers across North India have started marching towards Delhi to participate in the tractor parade scheduled for Republic Day 2021.

Thousands of vehicles from different parts of the region like Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are travelling towards the capital, leading to heavy traffic on Highways and connecting roads between Delhi and cities like Amritsar, Jaipur and Meerut.

Around 1500 tractors have already reached to the borders of the National Capital Region, leading to traffic congestions at different places. The police officials also mentioned that there are no such orders to regulate their movements. The president of  Bhartiya Kisan Union Gurnam Singh Charuni has urged farmers not to bring trailers along with them, but the participating farmers have apparently denied listening to him, because, as per the approaching protestors, they plan to stay in Delhi until the farm laws are withdrawn.

Kisan Union is expecting the participation of 5,00,000 tractors in the parade against the farm laws. They have requested participating farmers to prepare tableaux for the rally showcasing farmers’ life. He said “It is expected that around 30% of the participating tractors will showcase tableaux on themes like ‘History of Farmers’ Movement in India’, ‘The Role of Women Farmers’, ‘Farmers Suicides’, etc.”

Each tractor will carry a tricolor and will start marching from five border points of Delhi- Tikri, Singhu, Ghazipur, Shahjahanpur and Palwal towards the centre of Delhi. The farmers have been sitting at these five border points since November 28, 2020, against the three farm laws. The tractor parade will start post the Republic Day parade to be concluded at the Rajpath on January 26, 2021. They will cover a distance of about 100 kilometers and will rest the rally around 6.00pm at the Delhi borders only.

War Room setups at the borders and sufficient ambulance facilities have been installed for the smooth running of the parade. Farmer leaders have assured that the protest will remain peaceful and will not affect the official Republic Day Ceremony in any way.

The police forces in the capital have agreed to remove the barricades at Singhu and Tikri to let farmers enter the national capital. Neither the center nor the security forces have released any statement to stop the parade.

With this new move, farmers hope that the central government will withdraw the farm bills against which they have been protesting for almost two months now. Earlier, the farmers had called for ‘Bharat Bandh’ which had paved a way for discussion with the center.

The authorities have, however, asked the general public to check on traffic updates before moving out of homes on the Republic Day, in order to avoid any inconvenience.

Cinema opens up the world to you and a young lad from Bhopal, who lives in Mumbai now, has experienced it first hand. Having made 70 short films so far, this upcoming filmmaker is bringing a fresh outlook to the life on silver screen, through his astute direction and acting skills.

Raghav is from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and his creative bent of mind inspired him to look at movies differently. He watched movies as a child and a teenager, imbibing the cinema lessons in each on of those. The only difference between Raghav and the average film-buff is that he has already used different mediums to fulfill his desire for creative satisfaction. Early on in his career, Raghav worked as a stage magician for the renowned magician Shri Nafees Hussain for about 3 years, during which he kept performing at pizza outlets and elsewhere in the city regularly. But as soon as 3 years were complete, he took the decision to become a movie actor instead because that is where he felt his true calling lay.

This young cinema-lover is not oblivious to the fact that he also needs to hone his skills from time to time. In fact, once he relocated to the City of Dreams, he underwent the customary struggling period – sleeping on the platform, going empty stomach on occasions while continuing to nurture his love for cinema as well as dreaming of making it big in the tinsel-town.

The lady luck shined on him and he got his first break to work in a promotional music video, featuring Bollywood beauty Pooja Bhatt. Since then, he kept working off and on and as the pace of jobs picked up, so did Raghav’s understanding of the art of cinema. He learnt with each task and improved himself. Once he made his debut in the world of OTT, with a web series “DOORS”, he hasn’t looked back.

He found his niche in the short films, which fructified first on the YouTube and later on, on the OTT platforms like the Zee5.com. He was also invited as a speaker at the “Digital Dream Session” of the FIICI Frames 2017, where he spoke along with artists like Ashish Kulkarni, Tisca Chopra, Vivek Kajaria and Paula McGlynn. Raghav’s earnestness is his most beautiful personality trait and it helps him don the hats of an actor and a filmmaker with ease.

Joe Biden Takes Oath As 46th President of Unites States

The India Saga Saga |

Washington: On Wednesday, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. Kamala Harris, daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India, also took oath as the new Vice President. Kamala has written a new chapter in American history by becoming the first African-American as well as the first Asian-American to be elected to this position.

In his opening statement, Biden said, “Here we stand days after a riotous mob thought they could silence the will of the people. It will not happen, not today, not tomorrow, not ever.” He pledged to be honest with the country as it continues to confront difficulties, saying leaders had an obligation to “defend the truth and defeat the lies”.

Saying there was “no time to waste”, Biden signed a slew of orders to “change the course” – mainly concerning climate change, Covid-19 pandemic and advanced racial equity. He also lifted the travel ban on 13 Muslim-majority and African countries.

More significantly, Biden ordered halting of construction of the US-Mexico border wall and directed officials to preserve the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), among other things.

Earlier on Wednesday, Biden’s predecessor President Donald Trump walked out of the White House, leaving behind a legacy of chaos which bitterly divided the nation. During his 4-year-tenure, millions of people went out of work, 400,000 died from Coronavirus and the US Capitol riots led to the death of 4 persons.

The 46th US presidential elections held in November 2020 observed overwhelming support for Joe Biden with 93% of votes while Trump received less than 5.4% of votes which is fewer than 18,600 ballots.

In a media interaction, Biden disclosed that his predecessor had written him a “generous” letter before departing from Washington D.C. “The president wrote a very generous letter. Because it was private, I won’t talk about it until I talk to him. But it was generous,” he said.

After the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Harris tweeted “I am here today because of the women who came before me. And to the woman most responsible for my presence here today – my mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who is always in our hearts.”

Harris’ rise to the country’s second-highest office is seen as a milestone in the long struggle for gender and racial justice across the world.

Acharya Manish has been propagating Ayurveda since 1997 & is also the founder of the Ayurveda wellness label ‘Shuddhi Ayurveda’, which has its corporate office at Zirakpur near Chandigarh. He formally announced the ‘Right To Health’ drive by holding a special unveiling of the campaign  here. The campaign’s tagline has been innovatively coined as ‘Ayurveda ko hai ab ghar ghar pahunchana!’ Ayurveda doctors Dr. Geetika Chaudhary & Dr. Suyash Pratap Singh were also present.

Acharya Manish believes that Ayurveda – a herb-based Indian medicinal system is a prerequisite to leading a healthy life for every Indian. Talking on the same he said, “‘Charak Sanhita’ says that the motive of Ayurveda is to keep a healthy body disease free and remove disease from roots in a diseased body. Ayurveda also means complete knowledge of life. So this is not just a medicinal protocol but a way to lead life. “

Acharya Manish further said, “’The health of citizens today is failing because of lack of awareness about Ayurveda’s potency to contribute to ‘holistic health’.  It is Ayurveda that improves one’s health to counter attacks by pathogens & this has been proven well by immunity boosting Ayurveda medicines being used during this the COVID pandemic.”

It is to be noted that Acharya Manish & his team  through the campaign also want to bring into focus protection of life and personal liberty to every citizen. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as ‘A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely an absence of disease or infirmity.’ So for making this health definition of WHO a reality, protocols are needed which not only treat medical conditions but also counter their occurrence, and work on physical and mental wellness.

Acharya Manish added,”Our Ayurveda label ‘Shuddhi’ means ‘Purification’ and all our well-researched medicines approved by AYUSH also work on the principle of detoxification.”

Acharya Manish appreciates the decision of WHO to establish a traditional medicine center in India, however, he feels that there is still a lot to be done.  Under the campaign,  top government functionaries will be asked to establish an Ayurveda board and to provide Ayurveda with equal stature to other alternative medical sciences.
