Massive protest in Dhaka against China’s repression of Uighur Muslims

The India Saga |

At a time when China has become desperate to woo Bangladesh Government, people of the country have started a protest against the Chinese ‘invasion’ into the society of Bangladesh.

A massive protest was held outside Dhaka Press Club on Friday to condemn the Chinese brutality and suppression against Uighur Muslims in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Bangladesh Freedom Fighters organized the demonstration in memory of August 28 Uighur Repression Day saying that Muslims in many countries are unhappy with the inhuman treatment of Uighur Muslims by China’s Communist regime.

Last month when the Chinese medical team was given a red-carpet welcome at the airport people also protested, but at that time intensity of the protest was not so loud. This time it was quite a huge crowd that gathered in front of the natural protest place of the Capital Dhaka, National Press Club.

There are also reports given by the intelligence agencies that China and Pakistan have been able to infiltrate within the Bangladesh Government agencies and they have successfully made inroads in the administration. Recently, Chinese Embassy in Dhaka offered a huge sum of money for the Bangladeshi journalists for writing articles in favour of China’s dream connectivity project –Belt Road Initiative (BRI).

Initially, the Bangladesh Government has shown interest in joining the project but presently they are not showing so much interest as expected by the Chinese.

The Chinese government has reportedly detained more than a million Muslims in re-education camps. Most of the people who have been arbitrarily detained are Uighurs, a predominantly Turkic-speaking ethnic group primarily from China’s north-western region of Xinjiang.

Human rights organizations, UN officials, and many foreign governments are urging China to stop the crackdown. But Chinese officials maintain that what they call vocational training centers do not infringe on Uighurs’ human rights. They have refused to share information about the detention centers, and prevented journalists and foreign investigators from examining them.

However, internal Chinese government documents leaked in late 2019 have provided important details on how officials launched and maintained the detention camps. Human rights activists allege that most people in the camps have never been charged with crimes and have no legal avenues to challenge their detentions. The detainees seem to have been targeted for a variety of reasons, according to media reports, including traveling to or contacting people from any of the twenty-six countries China considers sensitive, such as Turkey and Afghanistan; attending services at mosques; having more than three children, and sending texts containing Quranic verses. Often, their only crime is being Muslim, human rights groups say, adding that many Uighurs have been labeled as extremists simply for practicing their religion.

A section of the intelligentsia of Bangladesh has recently started a campaign in favor of more direct engagement with both China and Bangladesh. Some of the retired officials are leading this campaign. Despite all these things, South Block in New Delhi is confident about the ‘blood relationship’ with the people of Bangladesh and the Government of Bangladesh which is rooted in the history of the Freedom movement. In fact, for this reason, now realization has come to the people and that becomes evident by this open protest.

9 Hidden Signs of Protein Deficiency

The India Saga Saga |

We need to understand the term protein, be it our hair, muscles even skin they are present all over our body. It takes the responsibility of carrying the oxygen to our blood and then forming haemoglobin. Our body keeps working due to their presence.

Now explaining it into scientific terms, the amount of protein a person needs to consume depends on their body mass or you can say weight. For example, if a person is 50kg then he/she should consume 50gm of proteins per day. Similarly, if he/she is 75kg then should consume 75gm of protein obviously per day. But the cycle varies that for children, senior citizens, and pregnant women. Also, lactating women need to always intake extra amounts of proteins in their diet.

In simple terms, when the person doesn’t take a sufficient amount of proteins, which we can say low in quantity they face protein deficiency.

We need to figure out what are the changes in our body that show us the deficiency of proteins in our body, in short, the signs of Protein deficiency:

  • Our nails, skin, and hair are one of our body parts which indicate a lot of things, problems which are going on inside our body and they never fail to show us the damage outside the surface.

If having protein deficiency the hair starts getting thin, nails become fragile they become easily breakable, and the skin starts to produce some patches.

  • The next hidden sign could be swelling, which gets mostly in feet, hands, and even our abdomen. As protein flowing in our body forms the tissues so a deficiency of that brings up to swelling of the body parts. So, keep a check on them.
  • When a person starts losing strength or becomes weak then one of the reasons is protein deficiency. The person starts feeling fatigued as the muscles start weakening which is the indication that probably he/she is not consuming the proper amount of protein. They start reducing weight too.
  • The bones become weak which brings out a higher risk of getting fractures easily as they become vulnerable.
  • You start developing hunger, which is a good thing but it is also the sign of protein deficiency. This happens because our body lacks protein due to which it wants to restore it which gets us to more consumption of food which may even lead to obesity and fats in the body.
  • The deficiency attacks on the immune system so it makes it weak of course, which makes the body more likely to catch infections easily. So, maintaining it is very important.
  • It leaves an effect on the growth of children who are on the growing stage the deficiency puts an effect on their weight, height, and development.
  • A headache indicates that something is wrong with your intake of proteins in the diet. Migraines are also caused by them. Interesting fact it is likely to be seen more in women in comparison to that of men.
  • Mood swings happen for many reasons but one of them is protein deficiency too as the balance of the body’s energy starts getting affected negatively.

Protein deficiency in India

People in India have this myth that it is not unsafe and not risky for them.

Also, they feel that only the people involved in bodybuilding and sports and who go to gyms should consume protein and the rest of the people don’t even need it.

A study showed that 73% of population reciting in urban areas is protein deficient and more than 90% of the population isn’t even aware of how much amount of it should be consumed.

The total protein test measures the amount of protein availability in our body.

We need to understand that may the person be of any age, gender whether he is underdeveloped or even fully developed, whether he is a child or a senior citizen he/she needs to intake a particular quantity of protein in their diet to remain healthy and fit for rest of their lives. They can be consumed from meat, pulses, milk, sprouts, green beans, soybean, paneer, chana, roasted peanuts, nuts, etc. these are rich in protein according to your preferences.
