During his school days at GHG Khalsa Senior Secondary School, in his village, he was the backbencher. On several occasions, he was even thrown out of his class for not paying attention to the teacher. However, nothing diminished his passion towards drawing and painting.

After schooling, Randeep went to train in painting and sculpting at the “School of Sikh History” – Gurudwara Mehdiana Sahib, located in village Mehdiana in Ludhiana. As he trained at the Gurudwara, he also joined the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial College in Dhudike, Moga, to earn a diploma in Art & Craft.

The first and most prominent influence on Randeep was that of one of the greatest Indian painters, Sardar Sobha Singh whose paintings are celebrated works of art. Randeep remains his ardent follower till date. Then comes the American Reality TV show – “LA Ink.” LA Ink got him so obsessed with the world of tattoo art that he started thinking of opening his own tattoo studio.

This was a time of great financial difficulty for Randeep in his personal life. To sustain himself, he started doing drawing projects of B.Ed. students for money and also earned through painting for clients. However, during all those difficult times, the idea of his own tattoo studio kept germinating inside his mind and heart. And one fine day, it was as if God had answered his prayers, when he got in touch with the owner of a tattoo studio in Ludhiana, “Tattoo Tree.” That noble soul supported Randeep whole-heartedly and shared with him his own knowledge of tattoo art and how to operate the equipment.

Randeep learnt under his mentor’s tutelage and became an accomplished artist, with special expertise in shading and lightening effects, which grant life to a drawing. After inking his first tattoo 11 years ago, he set upon realizing his dream of owning a tattoo studio and today his dream is fulfilled.

Tell us more about how your blog was named, and the idea behind it?

The name Chicster is an amalgamation of Chic & Hipster. The idea behind it was, The Chicster Diaries is an online journal for every makeup, skincare and fashion loving human that doesn’t have to choose between being Chic or Hipster. They can be who they want here. They can simply be a Chicster here. Most importantly, they can be themselves.

Tell us about your journey from a Marketing Major to a Blogger & Influencer?

Yes, I did my Masters in Marketing Management from University of Surrey, UK, post which I joined my family business of Real Estate Development. It was during this time that I stumbled upon blogging as a hobby and found my true calling.

If not for blogging what would have been your choice of profession?

Being from a Marketing background, I would have have probably been working with a digital marketing agency. I think it would have been the next best fit for me.

How do you like to spend your spare time?

Nothing grand, just curling up on my couch with a cup of tea, reading maybe. Cuddling with my dog Kai. Most of my free time is spent with family and close friends.

Are there any tips you would like to give to aspiring bloggers?

Firstly, follow your passion and find your niche. Secondly, Content is key. So focus on choosing quality over quantity. Lastly, Consistency is Queen and always will be!

Vatsal Agarwal: Simplex Coke ’Met Coke making is essential to beat china footprints in India’

The India Saga Saga |

If India has to fight a war with China, it has to be fought on all fronts, at borders as well as economic front. Every item imported, has to be manufactured locally. That is PM Narendra Modi’s vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat “Local is Vocal”.Met coke is one of the critical pillar, on which India is dependent on China

So the real war is now that India should increase its met coke making capacities to be self-dependent, as met coke is an import substitution product. India can become the next hub of coke manufacturing for the world only if we do not consume Chinese coke. Almost the entire world is dependent on China, as it is the single largest producer and exporter of coke in the world, China dictates the coke market by either increasing coke price or dumping the coke price to such a level that the Indian government had to impose the anti-dumping duty of USD 25 per ton on imports from China which increases the profit margin of domestic producers like Simplex Coke. India is going to be next hub with Kandla port as the epicenter of coke manufacturing. Simplex can take advantage to grow and become the largest producer and aggregator of coke in the country, catering domestic / worldmarket.

India has meagre reserves of coking coal and coke making capacity, so it does not figure in the world rankings. It has earmarked a huge expansion of the steel industry to meet the population base. Existing coke capacities at various steel plants within India have aged and they need immediate replacement.

Simplex Coke is the 4th largest merchant manufacturer and trader of met coke in India and currently has a market share of approximately 5% in west and north India. It has installed stamp charging technology in its port-based plants located in Kutch &Porbandar. From there they intend to do coastal movement of coke to Haldia, Vizag, Chennai, Goa port and have also tied up with 7 coke manufacturers to build a pan India presence. Vatsal Agarwal has grown his company from a humble turnover of Rs.4 crores to Rs.100 crores in a span of barely 4 years with key customers like Tata Chemical, Nirma, Hindustan Zinc, Hindalco, Jindal Saw, Essar, Kirloskar, JSPL, etc.

“As per Steel Policy 2017 India has a target to produce 300 MT of steel by 2030. To achieve this target 30 MT of coke making facilities are required in addition to the existing, envisaged facilities and coke import. Presently India is importing approximately 3 to 4 MT of Coke per year,” said Mr P.K. Rath CMD of RINL.

Simplex Coke also has a piling division which has risen to become India’s largest piling rig rental company, it recently acquired 15 brand new piling rigs and is executing several metro and infrastructure projects as India has a huge infrastructure budget of Rs.111 Lakh crores.

Vatsal Agarwal has recently signed an MOU with the Gujarat government, under ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ to set up new manufacturing as India has a shortfall of coke capacities under the ‘Make in India’ scheme.

Dharamik- A beacon of hope for day traders in India

The India Saga Saga |

It is a common notion that people who have a nine-to-five job with a fixed salary have their lives all sorted out. While this is true for some, there are also those who have worked like a Trojan for years to get their dream job – only to lose it in a heartbeat. The people most affected during the economic crises such as the current COVID-19 pandemic are the ones with only 1 or 2 sources of income.

This is where the question surfaces – How can someone financially secure their future? And the one term that comes to mind is ‘Risk Diversification’. Making life from a single income source means that you do not have a lot of security and you will have to juggle multiple roles in order to have a stable financial future.

Well, if you want to create multiple revenue streams, what’s better than stock market trading? It provides you the flexibility to trade anywhere, anytime without any limits. The issue here is most people don’t know how to go about it and this trading is perceived to be only for people in finance. He even invested his second-semester fees for college into the stock market which turned out to be a complete pleasure. This made him believe even more that his career lays in the stock market. Till now, his experience & expertise has already helped 3600+ Indians in fulfilling their long-cherished dream to earn independently.

REVEALED: BEAUTY BLOGGER CHAHNA SONI SHARES HOMEMADE MASKS FOR HEALTHY SKIN AND HAIR

The India Saga Saga |

Don’t we all love to pamper ourselves? How pleasing it is to get a clean-up or facial done, while we relax our mind and body. And the post glow is to die for! Right? But isn’t it a far-fetched dream these days to step out and go to our favorite salon because, of course, COVID 19 had made sure that we go back to the times when salons were not the only way to treat your skin. It feels like life has gone a few years back, and we are all by ourselves! While it is impossible to step out, our skin has to face the brunt of our mental health and the stress we all are dealing with these days. If we rewind in time, we will know that people used to rely more on natural things than ones made with chemicals. Sometimes it is good to step into your kitchen, if not for food, then at least for your skin, because your kitchen can help your skin. Not just your stomach, but your skin, too, will thank your kitchen for having some of the essential food items. We all know about sheet masks and clay masks, now let’s try some DIY costumes because natural things will bring a natural glow to our dull and damaged faces. Understand your skin type and skin issue and choose your face mask accordingly.

Here are DIY face and hair masks by Chahna Soni to keep your skin and hair healthy during the quarantine.

“I like being simple when it comes to skincare. I just try to hydrate as much as I can and maintain a cleanse-tone-moisturize routine. There’s this face mask that I love that my mother used to make. It has yogurt, turmeric, chickpea flour, and honey. I leave it on for like 15-20 minutes and then wash it off; it makes my skin glow and looks brighter almost immediately. There is this mask, which is going to sound crazy, but I promise you it helps, the blogger said. Mix one egg and a dollop of honey in a bowl and apply it to your face. Let the mixture dry and then wash it off”.

ASHAs in Odisha working closely with local communities to fight COVID-19

The India Saga Saga |

Manju Jeena, an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) from Kandalei village of Khurda district in Odisha has been working tirelessly to support COVID-19 related activities and ensure that her community has access to essential and other health services.

When a young returnee migrant was denied entry into the village and his home, Manju took it upon herself to single-handedly address the stigmatizing behavior of the community. She combined community awareness on COVID-19 with relentless advocacy to ensure that the returnee was able to stay in home quarantine. She rigorously undertook regular follow up on his health status and healthcare needs during the quarantine period.

In her years of committed community service, Manju has built up significant social capital, enabling her to effectively negotiate in addressing COVID related stigma and resultant discrimination. During the lockdown, she continued to facilitate access to other essential health services. She encouraged and accompanied several pregnant women for institutional delivery. Going beyond the call of duty, Manju also sewed face masks at home and distributed them to the poor in her village.

This is not a standalone story of Manju but about 46,600 ASHAs in Odisha who have emerged as champions against COVID-19 in rural and urban areas, addressing local health needs. They are seen to be working closely with Gaon Kalyan Samitis in the rural areas and Mahila Arogaya Samitis in the urban areas, community collectives within which ASHAs are embedded. They have used these forums to facilitate COVID preventive actions by promoting the use of masks/face covers when stepping out in public spaces, being attentive towards frequent hand washing, following physical distancing, as well as enhancing awareness of COVID symptoms.

The ASHAs have created wide awareness about these through IEC activities like distribution of leaflets and posters at Swasthya Kantha (wall at village level) to name a few.
