“Sport is incredibly tough. Often, the damage isn’t physical, it’s mental. I know players who grew up sacrificing absolutely everything to try and make it. If it doesn’t happen for them, they have nowhere to turn and nothing else to do. It’s like having to rediscover yourself and build yourself back up again from scratch”.
