Amit Shah expresses gratitude on spending a night at CRPF camp in Pulwama

The India Saga Saga |

Having a zero tolerance policy towards terror, the Modi government is continually taking efforts to maintain peace and harmony in the country. “We should not be satisfied till total peace is achieved”, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed on Monday.

Amit Shah spent the night at CRPF campus post his three day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.  The campus is located in Lethpora in Pulwama where a suicide car bomb attack by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in February 2019 had left 40 paramilitary personnel dead.

“I want to spend one night with you people and understand your problems,” Mr Shah said addressing the security personnel at the CRPF campus, adding it was his “most important” engagement during his visit to the Union territory.

The condition of Jammu and Kashmir has been improved a lot under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  Mr Shah further said, “we will be able to realise a peaceful Jammu and Kashmir as envisaged by Prime Minister Modi during our lifetime”.

“Stone-pelting incidents are only seen when we try to look for them. There was a time when stone pelting was common in Kashmir. Such incidents have decreased to a huge extent. But, I want to say that there is no need to be satisfied,” Shah said.

“Narendra Modi government has a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. We cannot bear it. It is against humanity. It should be our priority to save the people of Kashmir from the persons who are linked to this heinous crime against humanity,” he said.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to the security forces and CRPF personnel to keep people’s safety at the topmost priority and ensure that no one is harmed    after Article 370 was revoked in August 2019.

“There are many changes that are happening on the development front, in infrastructure, industrial and education sectors because the Army and CRPF are ensuring that all sinister designs are defeated,” Shah said.

Amit Shah said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are satisfied with the revocation of Article 370.

“It was possible as well, that perhaps there could have been bloodshed, but today I have come here to tell you and tell you freely that because of your alertness not a single shot was fired. It is a huge thing for us”.

“The alertness with which 28,000 jawans and also J-K policemen worked after a major decision was taken in national and J-K”s interest, no blood was shed and a new era of development was started in Kashmir,”” he said.

“All the forces here have taken care of the law and order situation in a right manner. So, as the country”s Home Minister, I thank you for the good work,” he said.

Narendra Modi has stood out with his revolutionary mission of taking the country to the top. With his mission he has been able to maintain peace and harmony in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“It is a very important programme for me to be with the forces whether the Army, BSF, CRPF or SSB who are protecting every last inch of the border. This is the last programme of my J-K visit and I can say without any doubt that it is the most important programme,” he said.

“Today we are at sixth position and I am sure that by 2024 we will reach the third position,” Amit Shah said.

The Union Home Minister expressed that he is grateful to spend a night with the CRPF jawans at the campus in  Lethpora in Pulwama.

China about to begin vaccination for Three-year-old kids due to rise in cases

The India Saga Saga |

In China, where 76 percent of the population has been completely vaccinated and officials maintain a zero-tolerance stance against outbreaks, children as young as three will begin receiving COVID-19 shots. In the last few days, local city and provincial governments in at least five provinces have issued letters requiring children aged 3 to 11 to obtain their vaccines.

The vaccine effort is being expanded as sections of China impose tighter restrictions in an attempt to contain tiny outbreaks. Following the discovery of new COVID-19 cases in Gansu, a north-western region that is heavily reliant on tourism, the province banned all tourist destinations on Monday. In some sections of Inner Mongolia, residents have been told to move. Over the last 24 hours, the National Health Commission recorded 35 new cases of local transmission, four of which were in Gansu. Another 19 cases were discovered in Inner Mongolia, with more distributed throughout the country.

Throughout the epidemic, China has used lockdowns, quarantines, and mandatory testing to largely eradicate local infection while fully vaccination 1.07 billion individuals out of a population of 1.4 billion. Based on public statistics, China’s most extensively used vaccinations, from Sinopharm and Sinovac, have shown efficacy in reducing serious sickness and virus transmission. However, the level of security they provide against the delta form has yet to be determined, despite officials’ assurances.

Individual cities in Hubei, Fujian, and Hainan provinces have all issued provincial-level notices announcing new vaccine mandates, as have individual cities in Zhejiang and Hunan provinces. China licenced two vaccinations for children aged 3 to 17 in June, Sinopharm’s from the Beijing Institute of Biological Products and Sinovac, but it has only been vaccinating those children.

How STEM Education has worked wonders at ITM Global School, Gwalior

The India Saga Saga |

STEM is not just an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, but an educational methodology that integrates all these subjects. STEM education lays emphasis on preparing future generations to be curious, logical, analytical, observant and pragmatic. The skills gained from STEM education extend beyond those needed to be successful in the STEM fields – they prepare children with varied interests, who move into any industry with valuable skill sets that allow them to be successful.

At ITM Global School in Gwalior, it has been observed that STEM education brings about a paradigm shift in early learning and aims at sustaining the curiosity and genius streak in the kids throughout their growing years. As one strolls through ITM Global, the only Cambridge curriculum school in Gwalior, and one of the best CBSE schools in town, one realizes how it has adopted various modes of modern technology for imparting education that focuses on the logical thought processes and problem-solving skills, thus allowing students to develop the kind of creative and logical mental ability which helps them succeed in every field.

The School has fully equipped laboratories dedicated towards all the STEM subjects. Set within a lush green 150 acre campus, and surrounded by the verdant green hills, the architecturally splendid ITM Global School has high-tech and fully-furnished Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and ICT Labs, as per the very specifications laid by the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Cambridge Assessment International Education.

As the School coordinates with the Science Olympiad Foundation, the students regularly get the opportunity to participate in the National Science Olympiad and the International Mathematics Olympiad. Besides this, the students get to showcase their scientific talent at the School’s own annual Science fair, IGNITE. Projects by students of the School, like the one by Aayush Bhattacharjee got selected for the CBSE Inspire Award. The teachers at ITM Global not only focus on developing the scientific attitude in the students, but are equally concerned about the safety of the students.

The school has trained Lab Assistants and helpers for labelling the names, purchase dates, and expiration date of the chemicals on the containers. The school building has maintained an Annual Inventory of the laboratory chemicals along with Materials Safety Data Sheets. The chemicals are kept under lock and key. They are stored on a non-corrodible surface within cabinets or storage shelves. Flammable or corrosive chemicals are placed in cabinets designed for this purpose.  Chemical storage rooms in the Chemistry Laboratory are locked and have a ventilation purge fan (for air changes per hour) for the outside air.

The pedagogical leaders at ITM Global have always favoured the integration of ICT with standard pedagogical practices, as it improves engagement with and retention of knowledge. When ICT is integrated into lessons, students become more engaged in their work. The School has incorporated advanced technology in its premises for facilitating the students. Teachers use Smart Boards and LCD Projectors for making their classes audio-visual – this helps the students in organizing and assimilating the ideas with ease. Teachers prepare PowerPoint presentations, and use audio-visual clips and multimedia presentations through the Smartboards and Projectors.

As a part of the STEM curriculum, Robotics has been introduced from the primary classes for making the students aware about the combination of computer programming and algorithms, the remotely-controlled manipulator, actuators, control systems – action, processing and perception – real-time sensors and an element of automation which helps to inform what a robot or robotic system does. Students of ITM Global have worked on various projects like Bell Ringing System using Sensors, Automatic Water Overflow Detection System, LED Lights Series, Linear Detection-based Robots, Obstacle Detection-based Robots and countless other projects.

The ITM Global School provides opportunities to the students to verify mathematical facts physically and to develop a multisensory approach. The Mathematics Lab is a place where students get to interact with Mind Games, Puzzles and various other analytical learning tools. A walk around the Mathematics Lab reveals that it is further equipped with computers for utilizing technology for the learning process.

The Geography Lab at ITM Global plays a pivotal role in enriching the geographical base of the students. The lab is well equipped with a series of maps, topographic sheets and a variety of survey equipment like the tracing table, thermometers, barometers, magnetic compasses, globes, standard time indicators and wet and dry bulb thermometers. Field trips are organised for the students to study the natural occupancy of various facts and inform about physical changes with the help of Global positioning system and Geographic information system available on the Net.

What distinguishes the vision of ITM Global School is that it had its own LMS (Learning Management System), a software application used for planning, implementing and assessing the learning process within its system way ahead of most other schools. This proved to be a boon during the pandemic as it helped each and every student to continue with their learning with the help of Live Lessons, Explanation Videos, PDFs of Books, Worksheets, Quizzes and various other resources. The School also has an educational ERP system that provides easy and quick access to information. This helps the management to consider and analyze various aspects of the institution faster, leading to growth in planning capabilities.

The India Saga Saga |

Visuals of firecrackers being busted in a few pockets of India started to pour in as soon as the Indian Cricket Team was defeated by Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. Former Indian Cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag hit out at those people for their anti-India move.

Twitter and other social media platforms were flooded with videos of people celebrating India’s defeat against cricketing rival Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. People from a few pockets across the country were seen bursting crackers after the match. This drew a huge criticism from Netzines and several social media users even demanded strictest action against these people.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to allege firecrackers were burst in ‘parts of India’ after the team’s loss against Pakistan on Sunday. Sehwag took a dig at fans celebrating Pakistan’s victory and also aimed a swipe at those urging people to not burst crackers during Diwali but are resorting to burning crackers over a cricket match. Sehwag, taking it to Twitter wrote, “Firecrackers are banned during Diwali but yesterday in parts of India there were firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan‘s victory. Achha they must have been celebrating victory of cricket. Toh, what’s the harm in fireworks on Diwali.”

Sehwag’s tweet rapidly created a buzz among the Twitterati and a huge section of people praised him for raising the issue without mincing his words. People supported him for criticising the hypocrisy over the burning of firecrackers during Diwali while others suggested there was no need for the former cricketer to share the tweet.

Soon after India faced a defeat at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the streets of the National Capital along with several cities witnessed a shocking turn of events, with several people bursting crackers to celebrate Pakistan’s win and India’s defeat. Despite a blanket ban of crackers, people sitting in their homes could hear the sound of crackers. Celebrations also erupted in PoK, where some people could not hold their excitement as Pakistan managed to win a cricket match against India. Slogans were also chanted stating, “Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Meri Jaan”. Some videos also came to light where people were seen raising Pakistani flags.

Joining his former on-field partner, Gautam Gambhir, on Monday, also criticised those bursting firecrackers after Pakistan’s win against India in the T20 World Cup match on Sunday, October 24. His remarks come after ex-cricketer Virender Sehwag alleged that crackers were burst in parts of India following Pakistan’s victory. In a tweet, using the ‘Shameful’ hashtag, Gambhir said, “Those bursting crackers on Pak winning can’t be Indian! We stand by our boys!”

As per ‘unconfirmed reports’, government has invoked it’s recent order which reads, ‘extra territorial loyalty at the cost of the Indian Union would be factored in while deciding right to opportunity in India or government funded public employment’. Identification of trouble mongers has already begun and they ‘might’ face a cancelation of their admission. The girl who was seen shouting anti-India slogans standing on a table in a video that went viral has been identified as Arifa Asfand, a MBBS student of 2017 batch. She is likely to face disqualification as per the government sources.

As of now, most of the videos trending on the social media wherein people in Kashmir were seen celebrating Pakistan’s victory are from 2017. Only two videos- SKIMS hostel and GMC girls hostel celebratory videos have been found real and verified and Police is on job to nab the offenders.

Bollywood producer Suravi Patnaik on the changing dynamics of OTT

The India Saga Saga |

With the entertainment industry regaining a semblance of normality, one may assume that web content may now be experiencing a backseat. However, it’s quite the opposite. The OTT boom has not only become an opportunity for actors but has also opened the door to a raft of new age directors and filmmakers; it’s here to stay.

The web space is emerging fast as an important medium in the entertainment landscape, and audiences are spoilt for choice as they consume content in various languages. As for budding filmmakers, OTT opens up different ways for storytelling, big or small. With more liberty on format and censoring, there is a lot to experiment, says filmmaker Suravi Patnaik.

Patnaik, who made her first stroke in movies with Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible: Fallout in 2018, believes the digital medium has helped ease the commercial restrictions of creative projects. According to Patnaik, accessibility and personalisation are key differentiators of OTT platforms. Consumers stay engaged as they can discover content that is relevant to them, right at their fingertips. However, as a filmmaker, Patnaik feels that it’s movie making that is changing faster than movie watching experiences. Gone are the days of commercial, happy-ending potboilers starring Khans. Cinema in 2021 is about content that is meaningful but may not necessarily have a happy ending or fit into a feature film format. Patnaik is happy to see newage cinema giving centrestage to actors instead of stars, cutting through language and mainstream barriers with its own kind of filmmaking such as web series and anthologies but feels that although the OTT space will continue to grow, streamers won’t replace theatres just yet.

Patnaik is the founder and ceo of Sponsa – a global company providing services in tech, marketing and more recently in film production. Suravi made her first bucks selling handmade Indian jeweller at the tender age of 16, when she was in high school in the UK. She graduated with a Masters degree in IT from University of Otago, New Zealand. However, her passion lied In 2017, she got a chance to work in Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible: Fallout. She became producer in 2020 – she is producing first of its kind Odia anthology content to be released worldwide in OTT platforms in early 2022.
