How Entrepreneur Rohit Bag Made The Successful Switch to Music

The India Saga Saga |

In the 1982 hit song – Eye of The Tiger, Survivor sang, “You change your passion for Glory”. Many times people are discouraged from pursuing their dreams and many are too afraid to go for what they love.

Rohit Bag, 22 is an entrepreneur from Kolkata. He has a digital marketing business through which he works with brands and draws up marketing and growth strategies. He is a living example of if you do what you love you will never work a day in your life. He works tirelessly to perfect business strategies and musical melodies because to him it is not a chore or a task, it is rather an extension of himself – an expression of his feelings and emotions.

When one has a business as successful as Bag’s, they would not think of leaving it or try to pursue anything else. But always the one to think out of the box, Bag took a chance and started producing and composing music alongside his business. He works independently on his music and does everything himself and does it with a smile on his face because of his passion and love for creating music.

Since his music came from a place of passion, everything he touched turned to gold. Bag has released acclaimed tracks like Jupiter, Jerry Tunes and Cyclotron and will be releasing more tracks like Shades and Moonlight soon.

Bag also does photography and editing work and his work on the camera can be seen on his Instagram account – where he has amassed an amazing following of 206k followers.

Despite all this Bag remains humble and puts just as much effort into his work now as he did when he started. He says, “If you work hard consistently and with commitment, success will come to you. But once it has entered your life, you still have to grind just as hard, because it can go just as easily as it came. If you want to build a majestic garden, you will have to water it till the end of the day, you can’t plant seeds and stop tending to it the moment you get a sapling. I am successful because I impressed people with my work and I don’t plan on letting anyone down.”.

Sidhu meets Charanjit Singh Channi after writing 13 point agenda letter to Sonia Gandhi

The India Saga Saga |

Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Sunday, met Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. The move comes after Sidhu made the letter public which he wrote to Sonia Gandhi, seeking a meeting to discuss a 13-point agenda.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Sunday, met with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and they both agreed to set up a panel on sacrilege. The party high command shifted to firefighting mode to end the conflict between the two warring leaders ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The meeting held in Chandigarh included All-India Congress Committee (AICC) observer Harish Chaudhary along with AICC joint secretary Krishna Allavaru. Punjab minister and PPCC general secretary Pargat Singh were present too.

Sidhu earlier resigned from the post of PPCC president only to rethink his decision after high command asked him to continue being on the post. The move comes after Sidhu made public a letter written to the party interim president Sonia Gandhi, seeking a meeting to present a 13-point agenda for the party’s campaign for the next Assembly polls. In the letter to the Congress president on October 15, a day after he had meetings with senior party leaders in Delhi, Sidhu pitched for a “Punjab Model with a 13-Point Agenda to be part of the Congress manifesto for the 2022 Assembly Elections”.

It was originally an 18-point agenda given by the party high command to then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in the last week of June with a timeline for implementation. Around a month later, Sidhu handed over 5 priority points to Amarinder. However, the peace formula did not work. Sidhu has now given 13 points agenda from 18 points agenda for quick and effective implementation. It is set to become a tall order for CM Charanjit Singh Channi to work on this agenda which includes contentious issues too.

He said the people of Punjab demand justice for the 2015 police firing at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan in Faridkot following the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib during the previous SAD-BJP regime. On the drugs issue, the Punjab Congress chief said, “The big fish mentioned in the STF report must be immediately arrested and given exemplary punishment.” He also wrote that the state government must reject the “three black farm laws” of the Centre “by announcing that they will not be implemented in Punjab at any cost”. The state government must release a white paper on power purchase agreements and cancellation of “all faulty PPAs as promised by us”, Sidhu said in the letter. He also batted for more representation to the Dalits and Backward Classes in the state cabinet.

This breast cancer awareness month do a self-breast examination

The India Saga Saga |

There has been some debate over the years about how effective breast self-examination is in detecting breast cancer early and increasing the likelihood of survival. A 2008 study of nearly 400,000 women in Russia and China, for example, found that breast self-examination has no effect on breast cancer survival rates and may even be harmful by prompting unnecessary biopsies (removal and examination of suspicious tissue). Because of the ongoing uncertainty raised by this and other studies, the American Cancer Society no longer recommends breast self-examination as a screening tool for women at average risk of breast cancer.

To do self-examination you just need to follow these 5 simple steps :

Step 1: Begin by looking in the mirror at your breasts with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips.

Step 2: Raise your arms and look for the same variations.

Step 3: While you’re looking in the mirror, check for any signs of fluid leaking from one or both nipples (this could be a watery, milky, or yellow fluid or blood).

Step 4: Lie down and feel your breasts, first with your right hand on your left breast and then with your left hand on your right breast. Keep your fingers flat and together while applying a firm, smooth touch to the first few finger pads of your hand. Apply a circular motion the size of a quarter.

Make a pattern to ensure that you cover the entire breast. Begin at the nipple and work your way outward in larger and larger circles until you reach the outer edge of the breast. You can also move your fingers vertically in rows as if you were mowing the lawn. This up-and-down approach appears to work best for the majority of women. Make sure to feel all the tissue from the front to the back of your breasts: light pressure for the skin and tissue just beneath, medium pressure for the tissue in the middle of your breasts, and firm pressure for the deep tissue in the back. You should be able to feel down to your ribcage once you’ve reached the deep tissue.

Step 5: Finally, while standing or sitting, feel your breasts. Many women find that feeling their breasts is easiest when their skin is wet and slippery, so they prefer to do this step in the shower. Using the same hand movements as in step 4, cover your entire breast.

Don’t be alarmed if you suspect you have a lump in your breast. Most women have lumps or lumpy areas in their breasts all the time, and the majority of breast lumps are benign (not cancer). Non-cancerous breast lumps can be caused by a variety of factors, including normal hormonal changes, a benign breast condition, or an injury. If you notice a lump or other new and concerning breast change, don’t hesitate to contact your doctor. This is especially true for changes that last longer than one menstrual cycle or appear to grow larger or more noticeable in some way. If you menstruate, you should wait until after your period to see if the lump or other breast change goes away on its own before contacting your doctor. The best healthcare provider to contact is someone who knows you and has previously performed a breast exam on you, such as your gynecologist, primary care doctor, or a nurse practitioner who works with your gynecologist or primary care doctor.

Russian Crew back on earth after shooting the first movie in space

The India Saga Saga |

The Russian crew returned to earth on Sunday at 12:35 am in Kazakhstan after spending 12 days on the international space station for the first movie created in orbit. Klim Shipenko and actor Yulia Peresild landed in Kazakhstan to shoot scenes for the first movie in orbit.

“The descent vehicle of the crewed spacecraft Soyuz MS-18 is standing upright and is secure. The crew is feeling good!” Russian space agency Roscosmos tweeted.

Earlier this month, the filmmakers took off from the Russia-leased Baikonur Cosmodrome in ex-Soviet Kazakhstan. They were traveling to the ISS with another cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov to film scenes for “The Challenge”. The movie script revolves around a female surgeon who is dispatched to the ISS to protect a cosmonaut. The plot has been kept secret and is yet to be released.

Movie actor Shkaplerov, 49, and the two Russian cosmonauts are expected to have cameo roles in the films. As the film crew docked at the ISS earlier this month, Shkaplerov had to switch to manual control.

And when Russian flight controllers on Friday conducted a test on the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft set to ferry the crew back to Earth, the ship’s thruster fired unexpectedly and destabilized the ISS for 30 minutes, a Nasa spokesman told the Russian news agency TASS.

But the spokesman said their departure is set to go ahead as scheduled. Peresild and Shipenko will bid farewell to the ISS crew on Saturday evening, the spokesman said, and begin undocking at 0100 GMT.

They will be shepherded home by cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, who has been on the space station for the past six months and is set to land in Kazakhstan on Sunday at 0436 GMT.

The trio is going to return to the recovery staging city in Karaganda, Kazakhstan before boarding a Gagarin Cosmonaut Training centre aircraft to further reach their training base in star city, Russia.

Mission Bindi: Indian-American High Schooler Making Waves through power of social media

The India Saga Saga |

The US is a diverse land which hosts scores of nationalities, ethnic groups, and harbours cultures from all over the world. But in a bustling cosmopolitan country, it can be very easy to lose your identity. Blending in with the crowd is the easy route but comes at the hefty cost of shedding your very roots.

Archita Nemalikanti, a senior at Massachusetts High School, had a similar experience where she was at a crossroad – mould herself in a conventional way to avoid questions and stares or embrace her culture and be herself. She chose the latter.

At times Nemalikanti would put on a bindi before going to school, but since they were unaware of its significance, her non-Indian classmates would poke and prod her about the bindi.

In this process to identify bindi she ventured to who she is and eventually what is her identity? This small bindi pointed to a bigger picture – that the world needed to know more about Hinduism and its culture, not for the sake of diversity but because Hinduism holds within itself divine wisdom and a connection to our roots.

Thus the idea of the Bindi-awareness project was born. Now, Nemalikanti not only aimed at educating her American peers but also to empower her Hindu friends to embrace their cultural heritage.

Though the Bindi awareness project started as a school project, it soon expanded beyond the school grounds and through social media travelled across the world. And Hindu youth all over the world identified with the vision and emotions of Mission Bindi.

The bindi is more than an accessory to the Hindus, it is an integral part of their cultural identity and Mission Bindi wants to preserve it and also educate the mainstream about the Hindu culture.

One of the initiatives under Mission Bindi is the Bindi Emoji Initiative. Currently the proposal for a Bindi Emoji is under consideration at UniCode. Archita believes, “Emoji may not seem like a big deal, but it’s one more way for a lot of people like us to feel acknowledged and represented.” and added it is an integral part of our experience on the internet.

But her more ambitious second initiative went viral. Started in 2020, the second installation of World Bindi Day was celebrated in as many as 20 locations in US and also at many international venues.

Hindu youth all over the world enthusiastically involved themselves with the Mission Bindi on World Bindi Day on 7 October ’21 – the first day of the Navratras. Â“This day is an opportunity to understand the glory of the Hindu tradition, embrace the deeper meaning of the bindi, and bring the bindi back into the mainstream” remarked Nemalikanti.

At the regional events at Campuses and Universities Students set up information booths, handed out bindis and spread the word about the science, history, and spirituality of the bindi – and, by extension, the Hindu culture.

World Bindi Day ended on a high note with a virtual event graced by author Sahana Singh, activist Sushil Pandit, and New York Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar.

Currently, Junaid Khan has expanded his office to a 12,000 square feet showroom and is working tirelessly to be amongst the top 5 pioneers of India in the car and bike industry.

According to Dr K. M Saifullah, 7 simple ways to win over stress and anxiety

The India Saga Saga |

According to a study by The Center of Healing (TCOH), Delhi, 74% of Indians are suffering from stress while 88% are troubled with anxiety. Psychological disorders like stress and anxiety are on the rise in this fast-moving world. The reasons that trigger such conditions are conflicts in any relationships, personal loss, heavy workload, genetic tendencies of psychological issues, side-effects of certain medications, physical or emotional abuse, drug addiction etc. To avoid serious complications like depression, personality disorders, loneliness, exhaustion, various health issues, even suicidal tendencies, one must follow a proper prevention plan and avail treatment of such conditions.

On this World Mental Health Day, Dr. Khalid Md Saifullah who is also popularly known as Dr. K. M. Saifullah, the Chief Medical Director of Naturoveda shares 7 simple steps to win over stress and anxiety in a natural and safe way.

Combat Stress and Anxiety by Following These Simple Steps:

Consume a nutritious diet:

Eating a healthy and balanced diet may help in keeping the negative effects at a bay. Intake right amount of carbohydrates, proteins, & fats along with vitamins, minerals and amino acids to boost your mental health. Besides, the combination of vitamin B6, B9 & B12 enriched foods promote overall wellness, improve sleep and elevate the mood. Citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables, legumes, milk, eggs, fish and nuts are excellent sources of stress and anxiety.

Be physically active:

One may burst stress by maintaining physical fitness. It has been proven that indulging in regular exercises may decrease “cortisol”, a stress hormone. While working out, our body releases endorphins that improves our mood and reduces anxiety. It will be effective if you start doing 45 minutes of exercises on a regular basis. To get best result, one may indulge in it 5 days a week.

Indulge in deep-breathing exercises:
Deep-breathing techniques have great benefits for our mind. They provide a soothing effect on the mind and at the same time relax all the muscles of the body. Inhale slowly through your nose and try to exhale the air through your mouth. Whenever you feel exhausted you may practice slow deep breathing at regular intervals. 3 minutes of deep breathing at regular interval is required as per your convenience.

Think Positive:

Positive thinking is highly beneficial for stress management. If you tend to be pessimistic, try to adopt positive self-talks. Start focusing on the things that make you happy and confident. Understand the factors that aggravate your negativity and learn the skills to change it into positive thinking. Make sure that you are accompanied with positive and supportive people. Try to learn from your mistakes and evaluate yourself rationally. Be open to your friends and family. Practice gratitude and appreciate good things in your life.

Follow Routine

Make sure that you are following a proper routine. A routine makes you self-organized and more productive. Maintaining a regime will help you in balancing your lifestyle and gives your life a purpose. Stay strict to yourself and train your mind in such way that you can follow the regime even at the worst situation. Soon, you will start realizing that you are able to do the works more efficiently and can save the time.

Inculcate hobbies:

For today’s stressful lifestyles, it is necessary to have fun and improve the quality of life. Adopting a hobby will be the best way to keep yourself engaged with the leisure time. Gardening, reading good books, writing a journal, photography are some good examples of productive hobbies. You may explore different things and understand which one you enjoy the most.

Maintain a sleep routine:

To fight against stress and anxiety, you need to maintain minimum 7 hours of sleep. A proper sleep environment is needed so that the body gets adapted to fall asleep quickly. Maintain a fixed bedtime every night so that you can wake up at the same time every day. Try not to carry any kind of gadgets (laptops, mobiles etc.) to your bedroom before going to sleep as the blue light emitted from the gadget’s display screen reduces “melatonin”, the hormone which is responsible for sleep.

To get a safe and long-lasting solution you must treat the condition at the earlier. Natural treatment systems like Ayurveda, Unani and Yoga have emerged as a silver lining in the treatment of chronic stress and anxiety. According to Ayurveda, keeping the Tridoshas (Vata, Pitta & Kapha) in harmony is the key to ensuring complete health. Similarly, Unani says that keeping the 4 humors (Sauda, Safra, Balgham & Dam) in balance provides disease-free life. Nabz Shanasi (Nadi Parikshan) has the ability to identify the fluctuations of Sauda, Safra, Balgham & Dam and Vata, Pitta, Kapha to reveal the root cause of diseases. Unfortunately, the true art of Nabz Shanasi (Nadi Parikshan) is gradually becoming extinct. It takes time to master this intricate method of pulse examination.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. K. M. Saifullah has remarkable command over Nabz Shanasi (Nadi Parikshan). He is a Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery and has acquiescence with renowned Ayurvedic and Unani physicians.

IRS officer Sahil Seth shared his tips and advice for aspirants appearing for Civil services examination

The India Saga Saga |

Sahil Seth is an Indian revenue service (IRS) officer from 2011 batch, currently is at the rank of Joint commissioner with the CBIC, ministry of finance, Govt of India. In 2020, he was appointed the Honorary Advisor to the steering committee for BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) from 2020 to 2023, which is an association of five major national economies: India, China, Brazil, Russia, and South Africa founded in 2009. Sahil was also later got appointed as Honorary President to the Delphic Council of Maharashtra. International Delphic Council, based in Berlin, is a charitable, nongovernmental organization (NGO), founded in 1994

Life is a replica of hard work and perseverance that you put in. You are the only one who can help yourself win. Nothing can stop you from being at the top,” says Sahil Seth, UPSC, 2011 batch IRS officer.

Sahil started thinking about cracking the CSE during his years doing B.Tech.

In this article, Sahil gives a few pointers to aspirants that they should know about before attempting the paper.

1. Understand your motivation well.

According to the IRS officer, candidates must understand clearly why they are interested in writing the CSE. “Whether it’s the brand appeal or that the service will help you want to contribute to society meaningfully–ensure you are very clear about this.”

2. Know the pattern of the UPSC – CSE

Before you decide to write the exam, it is a must to understand the pattern of the CSE. Changes are introduced every other year and thus, it’s imperative that one is aware of these changes. He asks aspirants to know about the age criteria and the number of attempts they get according to the category (SC, ST, OBC, General) they fall under.

“There are three stages – Prelims, Mains, and Interview. It is essential that candidates be on the lookout for all the possible changes that may be incorporated into these stages. The requirements of each stage are very different so one must prepare accordingly.”

3. Coaching or self-study?

Another important aspect to think about is whether an applicant needs coaching or can manage with self-studies. “An aspirant must take into consideration the logistics, cost and time that coaching centres would take up. Many candidates stay in areas where there is less exposure. But if one plans to shift to a place just to attend coaching classes, then research should be done thoroughly before taking the plunge.”

4. Choosing an optional paper for the UPSC – CSE

Like many IRS officers, who have done well in these exams, Sahil is also of the view that while choosing an optional paper, an applicant must emphasise on what they are comfortable with vis-à-vis what according to them will help them score more. He says, “Think and do a thorough research before picking the subject. Ensure that you give yourself time to choose the optional as well.”

5. Revision

One week preceding the examination, Sahil says that aspirants must spend the majority of their time in revision. “The notes one makes must be such that it does not take more than an hour to go over the entire syllabus. A week before the exam, students should not go through extensive content or books.”

Finally, Sahil advises, “During the time of making notes one must ensure that they are concise and cover all the important points so that closer to the examination, one finds it easy to go through it.”
