Young leader to Managing Partner, Nishant Shah’s is an inspirational journey

The India Saga Saga |

From his earliest days, Nishant had a voracious appetite for books and knowledge. Often going through seven or eight novels a week, his parents used to confiscate his books for “reading too much”, a problem many parents today would love to have. More than simply absorbing, he hungered to apply his knowledge. From his earliest days in college where he joined, grew and led Rotaract (a Rotary Youth wing) as a President and even a District Director, Nishant has wanted to lead from the front.

A quick wit and an extrovert, he won several awards based on his language, creativity and presentation skills in college.

Born in a family of businessmen and to a mother who was a teacher, Nishant studied to become a Chartered Accountant. Struggling against misfortune and set-backs in his childhood and young life, Nishant successfully got his degree and eventually even a Fellowship.

Intelligence, hard-work and a consistent work-ethic saw him progress through Citibank, Standard Chartered and JPMorgan, where he was a senior management member and the Head of Operating Risk (one of three portfolios he held). Twenty years after having started his career with Citibank, Nishant decided to strike out on his own and is now the Managing Partner of Jackstien Practices & Consulting International LLP.

With a focus on the future, Nishant consults with a wide range of clients, from traditional eCommerce platforms to Cryptocurrencies and NFTs. A strong proponent of ‘digital-nativity’ and the ‘Right Way’ (a motto his firm has adopted), Nishant has married experience, expertise, common sense and conceptual clarity with the future, a balance that we suspect is hard to find and just as hard to maintain.

Highlighting the importance of colors symbolic to each day of Navratri

The India Saga Saga |

The Navratri celebrations are filled with vibrant colours, which can be seen in the decorations, dresses, and designs all around you. Have you ever considered the significance of the Navratri colours? Yes, each colour that catches the eye has a pattern and a meaning.

Yellow, green, grey, orange, white, red, royal blue, pink, and purple are the nine colours of Navratri 2021. Each of the nine days of Navratri is dedicated to one of Goddess Durga’s nine avatars – the Goddess of Shakti or power. Each of the nine colours of Navratri represents a different aspect of the Devi.

The first day of Navratri commemorates Devi’s first incarnation as Shailaputri, the mountain daughter. She is Mother Nature’s absolute form and represents strength. Yellow is the colour of sunshine, happiness, and good cheer. It’s a great way to kick off the nine-day celebration. The second day of Navratri honours Goddess Durga’s second incarnation, Brahmacharani, the female seeker of spiritual knowledge. In this form, Goddess Durga or Parvati travels to the lush mountains to perform penance. Lord Shiva, her potential consort, is located here. She has joined him in his asceticism. As a result, the colour green represents growth, nature, and energy.

Chandraghanta is Devi’s third incarnation. She has a grey half-moon tattooed on her brow. The grey also represents her mood, as she is always ready to fight to destroy her devotees’ enemies. Kushmanda is Goddess Durga’s fourth incarnation. With her bewitching smile, this Devi’s luminosity and brightness light up the sun. She has the power to live in the Sun. As a result, the colour orange represents her happiness and energy.

Skandamata, the mother of Skanda or Kartikeya, the war god, is Devi’s fifth incarnation. The Devi with her baby in her lap represents the purity of a mother’s love. When devotees worship her, it also represents peace, purity, and prayer in their hearts. As a result, the colour is white. Katyayani is Devi’s sixth incarnation. She is a fierce form of Goddess Durga who is said to have arisen from the Gods’ wrath. As a result, she is associated with the colour red. Red also represents vigour and action.

Kaalratri is Devi’s seventh incarnation. She is also known as Kali, a destructive form of the Goddess. The colour blue represents her powerful energy. Mahagauri is Devi’s eighth incarnation. She is the giver of all wishes. Pink represents hope and a new way of looking at things. Siddhidatri is Devi’s ninth incarnation. She imparts knowledge and assists you in achieving your goals. As a result, the colour purple is associated with ambition and power.

Everything about Durga Puja including Devi’s various names and forms is intriguing and fascinating. So, when you attend your celebrations this year, keep these colour codes in mind and wear a different outfit with the appropriate accessories every day. You can wear the appropriate expression with the look if you understand the significance of the Navratri colours.

The United States considers Chinese military operations near Taiwan to be provocative

The India Saga Saga |

The military incursions began on the People’s Republic of China’s National Day, just days before Taiwan’s National Day. On Monday, October 4, 2021, the United States described Chinese military activity near Taiwan as provocative.

“We remain concerned by the People’s Republic of China’s provocative military activity near Taiwan, which is destabilizing risk miscalculations and undermines regional peace and stability,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters at her daily news conference.

“We urge Beijing to seize its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure and coercion against Taiwan, and we have an abiding interest in peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” she said.

“That’s why we will continue to assist Taiwan in maintaining a sufficient self-defense capability. We maintain our commitments, as outlined in the three communiques, Taiwan Relations Act, and the Six Assurances,” she said.

“We have been clear, privately and publicly, about our concern about the PRC’s pressure and coercion toward Taiwan, and we will continue to watch the situation very closely,” she said.

Senator Marco Rubio said in a separate statement that since October 1, 2021, 145 Chinese warplanes had flown into or near Taiwan’s air defence identification zone. These military invasions began on the People’s Republic of China’s National Day, just days before Taiwan’s National Day.

“The Chinese Communist Party’s aggressive behavior is intended to intimidate Taiwan and send a message to the rest of the free world,” Rubio said.

“If Beijing’s recklessness is not met with international condemnation, Xi Jinping will think he has a green light for further aggression. President Joe Biden must work with our allies to ensure the People’s Republic of China respects the status quo and the sovereign territory of Taiwan and its neighbours,” he said.

The US is concerned about China’s aggressive military action near Taiwan, according to State Department Spokesperson Ned Price.

New Govt. Policy: If you take traffic accident victims to the hospital, you will now be paid

The India Saga Saga |

Anyone who saves the life of a road accident victim by taking them to a hospital within the “golden hour” will be paid under a new scheme announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Monday. The golden hour is the one-hour period following a traumatic injury when delivering prompt medical attention to the victim has the best chance of preventing death.

The initiative, which took effect on October 15, specifies that each Good Samaritan would receive Rs. 5000 per incident for taking a traffic accident victim to the hospital within an hour of serious injury.

The scheme was created to encourage people to help road accident victims in an emergency scenario by providing monetary awards and certificates, as well as to inspire and motivate others to save the lives of road accident victims. According to the standards, an individual Good Samaritan can only be rewarded five times each year in order to prevent misuse of the scheme.

This step comes after the insertion of section 134A, namely “Protection of good Samaritans” in the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act in 2019. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways published the Good Samaritan Protection Rules in 2019, stating that a Good Samaritan is not liable for any civil or criminal action for any injury to or death of a victim of a motor vehicle accident.

In reference to this, the ministry said, ”Now, it has been felt that there is a need to motivate the general public through cash awards and certificates to help the road accident victims in an emergency situation and to boost their morale, and also to inspire and motivate others to save lives of the road accident victims.”

Along with the Rs. 5,000 cash prize, a certificate will be presented. Aside from this prize, the ministry also announced that ten of the nation’s most honourable helpers will receive a one-lakh-rupee award.

Rahul Gandhi heads towards Lakhimpur Kheri despite travel restrictions by State Government

The India Saga Saga |

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, today, will lead a delegation of party leaders to Lakhimpur Kheri despite a travel ban in that area. Rahul has been denied permission by the state government and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was earlier detained by the Uttar Pradesh government while she was heading to Lakhimpur Kheri.

Rahul Gandhi will today lead a delegation of senior party leaders and will head towards Lakhimpur Kheri. In a letter written to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Congress had said a five-member delegation led by Rahul Gandhi planned to visit the district. It has also called the detention of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ‘without any reason or justification.’ She was earlier detained by the Uttar Pradesh Police while she was heading towards the district to meet the families of farmers who died as the car of the Union Minister ramped into the protesting farmers.

As per the reports, a delegation of Rahul Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot is slated to reach the capital city of Lucknow at around 01:30 pm today. The permission for the visit has been denied by the state government citing the law and order situation.

Congress further said that the Yogi government had allowed politicians from various parties in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal to visit Lakhimpur Kheri but is not allowing them to do so. The grand old party should be allowed to visit the district and meet the families of the farmers who died due to being overrun by a car that was part of the convoy of the Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra. Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Monday, was detained by the state police near Sitapur as she was heading towards Lakhimpur Kheri. The Congress party had alleged that she was being detained illegally and no notice or FIR has been provided to her even after 38 hours of detention and was not even allowed to meet her lawyers.

Yogi government has put up strict orders and is not willing to allow anyone to visit the districts due to the law and order situation. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, on Tuesday, was stopped by the police from visiting Lakhimpur Kheri and Baghel staged a 2-hour long dharna at the Lucknow Airport premises. The state government, on Monday, had registered an FIR against the former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for violation of Section 144 (on unlawful assembly).

“Pilgrim Scholar – Alexander Csoma de Korös Memorial Exhibition” inaugurated at IGNCA by Liszt Institute

The India Saga Saga |

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in collaboration with the Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Centre, Delhi and Tibet House, New Delhi  inaugurated the photo documentary exhibition on the eminent Hungarian Philologist and Orientalist, author of the first Tibetan–English dictionary Alexander Csoma de Korös  on Monday, 4th October. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Union Minister of Cultural and External Affairs, in the presence of Prof. Karam Tej Singh Sarao, Dept. of Buddhist Studies, Delhi University; Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA; Dr. Margit Koves, Cultural Resource Expert.

This exhibition has been curated by the scholars of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Dr. Gergely Orosz and Dr. Ágnes Kelecsényi. The motive behind the exhibition has been to celebrate Alexander Csoma de Korös (1784-1842) who lived and worked in India in the last two decades of his life. Liszt will be organizing a series of events in  the memory of Alexander Csoma de Korös and to strengthen the cultural relations between India & Hungary. The exhibition is open to the public from 5th of October to 14th of October from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. at IGNCA, Janpath.

Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi quoted that, “Alexander Csoma de Korös was truly a saint as per the Indic thought, who sought knowledge and lived for achieving academic and intellectual excellence. He is the one who built a bridge between India and Hungary in the 18th century which is cherished by people of both the countries even in the 21st century.”

The entire series of events have been conceptualized by Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh C. Gaur, Dean & HoD-KalaNidhi Division, IGNCA with the support of Dr. Margit Koves, Cultural Resource Expert.

Further to this Prof (Dr.) Ramesh C Gaur said, “We are organizing this series in the memory of Buddhist Scholar Alexander Csoma de Korös and to let people be aware of how our cultures are deeply rooted and how Alexander connected the cultural dots. It’s important for us to understand such historic things to enlighten the future pathways. To glorify this we would like to take the honour in introducing the series of events including, webinar, virtual talk show, photo exhibition and music concert. The purpose of this entire event is also to share the cultural interests, and to talk about the art collections shared by India & Hungary together.”

Adding to this, Hungarian research Scholar and Curator Mr. Gergely Orosz said, “Hungarians consider Alexander Csoma de Korös  (whom we  Korösi Csoma Sándor or for short Csoma) is one of the first major links connecting Hungary and India, a link that continued further by Aurel Stein, Amrita Sher-Gil, Gyula Germanus, Elizabeth Brunner and Elizabeth Sass-Brunner, Charles Fabri, Ervin Baktay and many others. Csoma took over the form of life the Tibetan lamas lived and studied their work with empathy. Hungarians present Csoma’s life as a model, – specially for young students –  exemplary in perseverance, sacrifice and simplicity. The exhibition will present various stages of Csoma’s travels and work, his global significance for the access,  understanding and preservation of Buddhist heritage as part of memory of humankind and the inception of Tibetan Studies  at a global scale.”

Alexander’s letters and manuscripts are in the possession of the Asiatic Society and will be exhibited along with the Hungarian exhibition in Kolkata at the end of the month.
