Warn Airlines: Unvaccinated employees to face unpaid leave & termination

The India Saga Saga |

Due to an increase in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections around the world, two major airlines have made vaccination mandatory for their staff. Employees who refuse to get vaccinated will be fired, according to WestJet in Canada and United Airlines in the United States.

All WestJet employees must have their vaccination status verified by September 24 or be fully immunized by October 30. All future personnel hired by the Onex Corp-owned airline will be required to have a complete immunization record.
“As part of its vaccine mandate, the airline will not provide testing as an alternative to vaccination,” the company said in a statement.
United, on the other hand, has set a September 27 deadline for vaccinations for its staff. Those whose requests for exemptions based on medical or religious grounds are granted will have an additional five weeks to get vaccinated, according to the airline.

They will be terminated or placed on unpaid leave after that, according to the statement.

Medical exemption claims will be reviewed by medical professionals, including nurses, while religious exemption requests will be processed by personnel-office officials, according to United.

Starting October 2, workers that often interact with passengers, such as flight attendants, gate agents, and pilots, will be on indefinite unpaid leave unless their exemptions are approved. According to one of the memos issued by the Chicago-based corporation, they won’t be allowed back on the job until the pandemic “meaningfully recedes.”

What other airlines are doing ?

Among US airlines, United has taken the most pro-vaccination attitude. Delta Air Lines has announced that unvaccinated employees who are covered by the company’s health plan would be charged a $200 monthly penalty. Others, including American Airlines, have stated that unvaccinated personnel who contract Covid-19 will be denied paid leave.

Concern over Delta Variant

New infections are at their highest level since March, according to US government data, and are expected to grow further into the autumn as more individuals are sent to hospitals.

The extremely contagious Delta coronavirus strain has sparked a resurgence in Covid-19 cases, causing many firms to issue mask regulations and modify their immunization practices.

Political temperature in Bihar rises as Chirag Paswan meets Tejashwi Yadav

The India Saga Saga |

Chirag Paswan’s meeting with RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav in Patna has given air to the speculation of an alliance between them, however, the former downplayed it.

LJP’s Chirag Paswan, on Wednesday, met the Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav in Patna to invite him for the first death anniversary function of his father and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan in the state’s capital on September 12. Soon after the meeting, the speculation of an alliance between the two young leaders started to surface, however, Chirag downplayed it.

The beleaguered LJP leader is also scheduled to meet RJD patriarch and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday. Chirag, while talking to media persons said, “No political meaning should be taken out of such meetings. My father shared a great relationship with Lalu Ji and they respected each other a lot. I have invited Tejashwi Ji as a part of our tradition.”

On the question of whether he will invite CM Nitish Kumar for the event or not, he said, I have sought an appointment with him but so far there has not been any response.

Tejashwi Yadav was more unequivocal in his response, he said, “When I started my political career in 2010, LJP and RJD were allies. I learnt many things from Ram Vilas Paswan Ji. He was our guardian. Chirag will also meet my father as well. My father, who is recovering, will attend the event.” On being asked about the possibility of an alliance, Tejashwi said “My father has dropped several hints and I don’t need to say anything further.”

The speculation of LJP-RJD forging an alliance has been doing the rounds for quite a few times.

Chirag, who has been touring the state to regain his lost political ground has been warming up to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as well and recently he was praised by Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu said ‘Chirag is a leader of masses.’ The former also hinted at a willingness to form a new alliance.

Things have been tough for Chirag Paswan as he first lost his father and after his father’s sad demise, the party performed poorly in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly Election. Trouble mounted further for the LJP’s leader as he was cornered by his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, MP from Hajipur, who has engineered a split with the help of few leaders of the party. More than 5 MPs of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has rebelled against Paswan and his uncle was even inducted into the Council of Ministers in the newly formed Union Cabinet, sidelining Chirag.

This is a testing time for Chirag Paswan as it’s the battle for his political survival.

Agitating farmers gheraoed Mini Secretariat at Karnal, internet suspended

The India Saga Saga |

The farmers gathered at the Mini Secretariat at Karnal after the talks with the authorities failed. The agitating farmers demanded strict action against the former Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha who was seen, in a video, giving permission to the police officials for lathi charge on the farmers.

Thousands of agitating farmers, on Tuesday, marched towards the district headquarters in Haryana’s Karnal after the talks with the BJP ruled government failed. Farmers’ unions are adamant on their demand for strict action against the former SDM of Karnal, Ayush Sinha, who, in a video, was seen giving orders to the police for smashing the heads of the protestors during their protest on August 28th.

Earlier, the farmers’ union had warned the state government that if their demands are not met, they will lay siege of the Mini Secretariat at Karnal and this is why a delegation of 11 farm leaders was invited for the talks by the government. Somehow, the talks couldn’t reach any conclusion and so farmers started to gherao the Secretariat.

The gherao began in the evening after farmers from Haryana as well as bordering states reached Karnal’s New Anaj Mandi for a Mahapanchyat in their tractors and bikes. A lot of the farmers were seen walking from the mandi towards the Mini Secretariat. The police were privy to the developments and greeted the farmers with a water cannon, five kilometers away from the complex. The protestors tried to jump over the barricades that were stalled by the police, however, there wasn’t any other serious confrontation between the two sides along the way.

Senior leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), including Rakesh Tikait, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Darshan Pal, Yogendra Yadav, and Gurnam Singh Chaduni were also present at the site demanding strict action against the former SDM. Earlier, during the protest on August 28, nearly 10 farmers were injured in a clash as they tried to head towards the venue of a BJP meeting. Controversial leader, Lakha Sidhana also reached the spot late at night along with his supporters. Addressing the protesters, he said the BJP led governments, both at the Centre and the State, are trying to create a rift between farmers of Punjab and Haryana.

The protestors sat the whole night outside the secretariat and langar was also organized for the farmers. The farmer leaders said that they won’t leave the site until the government fulfills their demands. However, as a precautionary measure, the authorities have suspended internet services in Karnal till September 8. The government said the mobile internet and SMS services were suspended in order to stop the spread of misinformation through various social media platforms.

As per the reports, a huge gathering of protesting farmers is expected on Wednesday as the farmers union have given a call to Haryana farmers to reach Karnal in huge numbers. Karnal deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said that we have made all the necessary arrangements in order to deal with the situation.

NASA mission accomplished: Perseverance has its first rock sample

The India Saga Saga |

NASA succeeded in collecting its first rock sample with the help of the perseverance Mars rover. The US space agency shares photos of a rock core sharing the thickness of a pencil in a sample tube. Declaring it as a one-of-a-kind mission,  NASA captured, sealed, and stored the first-ever core sample in a quest to return samples to the earth.

The perseverance rovers’ chief engineer, Adam Steltzner, labeled it as the historic moment. Some time back perseverance drilled into much softer rock but the sample did not make it to the last and get inside the titanium tube. The rover drove a half-mile to a better sampling spot to try again. Further, data and pictures were examined before declaring it as NASA’s triumph. On September 1, the Mars rover finally collects its first rock core giving rise to scientist’s hopes. Engineers paused the process to capture the core in its sample tube making sure of its successful journey. The sample was then stored in an airtight container to check the validity of the sample components.

In a speech, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson remarked, “This is a momentous achievement and I can’t wait to see the incredible discoveries produced by Perseverance and our team.”

Perseverance reached in February at Mars’ Jezero Crater. The rover is tasked with cumulating more than two dozen samples in the coming year. Moreover, NASA is planning to launch more spacecraft to reclaim the samples that were gathered by Perseverance; engineers are putting out their best efforts in order to return as many as three dozen samples in a decade.

Dietician Dharshini : Five Common Mistakes done when trying to lose weight

The India Saga Saga |

Obesity and overweight is a very common problem in our nation, especially in adults and children recently due to the recent pandemic. Additional weight comes not only from the over intake of processed food and unhealthy beverages but also due to sedentary lifestyle. The good part about it is, it’s reversible. People need to take more effort and time to invest in their body and so to prevent health issues like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, pcos and infertility in women. Globally more than 2 million people are obese and every year the rates keep drastically increasing even with so much awareness.

Its not that people who are obese dont tryto lose weight, but when people try to lose their extra fat from the body, they make some mistakes which affects their internal health and functioning capacity of the organs.

  1. Following a diet from the internet : In this developing technology, everything is available in just a click but unfortunately a diet from the internet might not suit you as it’s not personalised and not authenticated. Following a diet from the internet can be harmful as it is not designed based on your symptoms, medical history, age, gender and body type. So it is always better to discuss your health issues with your dietitian and seek their help to guide you on weight loss journey for effective results.
  2. Skipping breakfast to lose weight: Many might think skipping breakfast can help in losing your weight as it cuts down your major calories from the day. If you think so, you are making the biggest mistake, as breakfast is very essential for your body to provide you nourishment which has been on rest for long hours. People who have been skipping breakfast end up having problems with concentration and overeating. Fat storage actually increases when you skip the first meal of the day and hence you end up gaining weight and not losing the weight.
  3. Not concentrating on workout : Weight loss is merely creating the deficit in calories and adding nourishment to the body. Few might even try strict dieting but don’t move their body at all as they tend to eat less on calories. Weight loss in this pattern is very unhealthy as you tend to lose the bone and muscle from the body which is regainable. Workout is not only to lose weight but also to make you feel better, light and improve the blood circulation. Workout has to be done at least for more than 30 mins to see effective results and it can be anything which makes you feel comfortable, but you must be able to do it for a long period of time.
  4. Lacking in consistency: As discussed in the last point, doing for a long term is really important to see the results. Consistency is the key as it helps you to achieve the goals much easier. More often people tend to start a diet randomly but continue it only for a week or ten days only because they lack consistency, that’s why they don’t see the result

They wanted. Consistency is something you do for a sustainable period of time without any break or gap which helps the body to learn the process and provide the reward.

  •   Looking for Instant Results : The technology has improved a lot and made a lot of people lazy I would say, as people have started expecting everything quick. Tips and tricks don’t work in a better way when it comes to health. People need to understand that if they want to see their body in a healthy way they need to give that time and not depend on anything that says works like magic, instant result in ten days, lose your fat in a week. Nothing lasts long which comes easy, so thinking that it’s enough to lose the weight for now in a week can harm your body and you can end up adding extra kilos after a month. Stop believing that there is an instant solution for any health issue.

The above are the common five mistakes made by people when trying to lose weight. To put simple you need to give enough time and put in the right way to lose extra weight you gained over a period of a year to feel energetic, toned and with no health hazards. Also seeking help from a professional helps a lot as you get to know more information about food and your body.
