NASA mission accomplished: Perseverance has its first rock sample

The India Saga Saga |

NASA succeeded in collecting its first rock sample with the help of the perseverance Mars rover. The US space agency shares photos of a rock core sharing the thickness of a pencil in a sample tube. Declaring it as a one-of-a-kind mission,  NASA captured, sealed, and stored the first-ever core sample in a quest to return samples to the earth.

The perseverance rovers’ chief engineer, Adam Steltzner, labeled it as the historic moment. Some time back perseverance drilled into much softer rock but the sample did not make it to the last and get inside the titanium tube. The rover drove a half-mile to a better sampling spot to try again. Further, data and pictures were examined before declaring it as NASA’s triumph. On September 1, the Mars rover finally collects its first rock core giving rise to scientist’s hopes. Engineers paused the process to capture the core in its sample tube making sure of its successful journey. The sample was then stored in an airtight container to check the validity of the sample components.

In a speech, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson remarked, “This is a momentous achievement and I can’t wait to see the incredible discoveries produced by Perseverance and our team.”

Perseverance reached in February at Mars’ Jezero Crater. The rover is tasked with cumulating more than two dozen samples in the coming year. Moreover, NASA is planning to launch more spacecraft to reclaim the samples that were gathered by Perseverance; engineers are putting out their best efforts in order to return as many as three dozen samples in a decade.

Author Deblina Bhattacharya Launches ‘My Black Rose’

The India Saga Saga |

Deblina Bhattacharya, author, poet, blogger, and mental health advocate recently announced the launch of her latest anthology ‘My Black Rose’. Published by Mithaas Publishers, the book is a collection of poems based on the power of positive thinking and hope. It walks readers through her life journey, and all her life’s trials and tribulations. The book is priced at Rs. 179, and can be purchased across all leading online and offline bookstores in India.

‘My Black Rose’ is Deblina’s second work as a poet and follows the success of her first book ‘Knots’, an Amazon bestseller that explores the realities of mental illness & suicide, social taboos & violence against women, pain & darkness, self-love & healing in all its naked glory.

Through the launch of her latest anthology, Deblina aims to touch the hearts of thousands, and spread a sense of hope across the globe, especially in these trying times.

“Having grappled with struggles of my own these past few years, it was only right that I give back to the people who showed me support right from the very start. So many people I know deal with so much on a daily basis, and I understand that sometimes it may be overwhelming. However, if there is one thing I aim to show my readers through this book, it is the true power of hope, and how it got me through my tougher times. Hopefully, my stories will inspire my readers to keep moving forward.”

Currently pursuing a degree in literature, Deblina has always loved writing but discovered her dream to channel her talent into this profession when she was just 16. Like most writers, she is a storyteller at heart and strives to make the world a better place one story at a time.

“I think of writing as a way to express all that I feel. Through my writing, I am able to present my readers with my honest self, rather than a version of myself. My only hope is that through this, I will build the trust of my readers, so that they may find acceptance in themselves as well.”

Devanshi Sharma, a nationally acclaimed best-selling author, and founder at Mithaas Publishers stated “I had been following Deblina on Instagram for quite some time and was really impressed by her ability to find positivity in any given situation. Her charisma and positive attitude are truly infectious which I’m sure many people on social media could use to brighten up their day.”

She further added “When I heard her story, and how she was able to fight through her all her tough times, I knew instantly that her book was one that would really touch the hearts of many. Deblina and I share the same philosophies and try to inspire our readers through the same mindset. It is an honor to have her as a Mithaas published author, and we wish her all the very best.”

Deblina serves as an inspiration to many who are of her age. Her heart-touching words along with her brazen attitude make her a force to be reckoned with. Her love and empathy for the people around her encourage goodness. While she aims to continue fighting mental health and the stigma surrounding it, she is only getting started with her career as an author, and also looks to launch her own novel very soon.

Dietician Dharshini : Five Common Mistakes done when trying to lose weight

The India Saga Saga |

Obesity and overweight is a very common problem in our nation, especially in adults and children recently due to the recent pandemic. Additional weight comes not only from the over intake of processed food and unhealthy beverages but also due to sedentary lifestyle. The good part about it is, it’s reversible. People need to take more effort and time to invest in their body and so to prevent health issues like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, pcos and infertility in women. Globally more than 2 million people are obese and every year the rates keep drastically increasing even with so much awareness.

Its not that people who are obese dont tryto lose weight, but when people try to lose their extra fat from the body, they make some mistakes which affects their internal health and functioning capacity of the organs.

  1. Following a diet from the internet : In this developing technology, everything is available in just a click but unfortunately a diet from the internet might not suit you as it’s not personalised and not authenticated. Following a diet from the internet can be harmful as it is not designed based on your symptoms, medical history, age, gender and body type. So it is always better to discuss your health issues with your dietitian and seek their help to guide you on weight loss journey for effective results.
  2. Skipping breakfast to lose weight: Many might think skipping breakfast can help in losing your weight as it cuts down your major calories from the day. If you think so, you are making the biggest mistake, as breakfast is very essential for your body to provide you nourishment which has been on rest for long hours. People who have been skipping breakfast end up having problems with concentration and overeating. Fat storage actually increases when you skip the first meal of the day and hence you end up gaining weight and not losing the weight.
  3. Not concentrating on workout : Weight loss is merely creating the deficit in calories and adding nourishment to the body. Few might even try strict dieting but don’t move their body at all as they tend to eat less on calories. Weight loss in this pattern is very unhealthy as you tend to lose the bone and muscle from the body which is regainable. Workout is not only to lose weight but also to make you feel better, light and improve the blood circulation. Workout has to be done at least for more than 30 mins to see effective results and it can be anything which makes you feel comfortable, but you must be able to do it for a long period of time.
  4. Lacking in consistency: As discussed in the last point, doing for a long term is really important to see the results. Consistency is the key as it helps you to achieve the goals much easier. More often people tend to start a diet randomly but continue it only for a week or ten days only because they lack consistency, that’s why they don’t see the result

They wanted. Consistency is something you do for a sustainable period of time without any break or gap which helps the body to learn the process and provide the reward.

  •   Looking for Instant Results : The technology has improved a lot and made a lot of people lazy I would say, as people have started expecting everything quick. Tips and tricks don’t work in a better way when it comes to health. People need to understand that if they want to see their body in a healthy way they need to give that time and not depend on anything that says works like magic, instant result in ten days, lose your fat in a week. Nothing lasts long which comes easy, so thinking that it’s enough to lose the weight for now in a week can harm your body and you can end up adding extra kilos after a month. Stop believing that there is an instant solution for any health issue.

The above are the common five mistakes made by people when trying to lose weight. To put simple you need to give enough time and put in the right way to lose extra weight you gained over a period of a year to feel energetic, toned and with no health hazards. Also seeking help from a professional helps a lot as you get to know more information about food and your body.

First six days of September, Mumbai records over 28% of August Covid-19 cases

The India Saga Saga |

The surge in the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the first six days of September has caused concern in Mumbai. According to data from the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the city recorded nearly 28% of the total Covid-19 cases it had registered in the entire month of August from September 1 to 6.

According to the local body’s data, Mumbai has already registered 2,570 Covid-19 infections in the first six days of September, accounting for 28.9% of the total 9,147 cases reported in August.
The increase of instances has alarmed BMC officials, who are concerned about the festive season, which begins on September 10 with Ganesh Chaturthi.

“One month is important for us. Currently, people are going out for the ten-day Ganpati festival (beginning September 10). They will return after immersion (Anant Chaturdashi). Hence this period and the next 15 days will be very crucial for us,” additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani told news agency ANI.

He also stated that the city council has resolved to increase Covid-19 testing, hire additional clean-up marshals to punish those who spit in public places, and maintain jumbo care centres.

According to city officials, a fortnight after the Ganesh celebration, there may be another increase.

On Monday, Mumbai reported 379 new coronavirus positive cases and five deaths, bringing the total number of infections to 7,46,725 and the number of deaths to 15,998. According to a BMC spokesperson, the city now has 3,771 active cases.
For nearly a week, the city has been reporting over 400 instances, but the BMC has attributed the increase to recent relaxations and stated that it is not the start of the third wave.
As a result of the increase in daily instances, the active Covid-19 cases, which had decreased to 2,700 as of September 6, had risen to 3,771.

Mamata set to return to her home turf of Bhabanipur, by-polls on Sep 30

The India Saga Saga |

As soon as the Election Commission (EC) on Saturday announced the dates for by-polls for three assembly constituencies in the state of West Bengal, AITC, the following day, announced that Mamata Banerjee will be their candidate from Bhabanipur.

The EC on Saturday ended all the speculation related to by-polls dates as they announced that elections will be held to the three constituencies- Bhabanipur, Samersganj, and Jangipur on September 30. TMC supremo and Cheif Minister Mamata Banerjee will start her campaign on September 8. The high-profile seat has been the bastion of Mamata Banerjee for a long time and now it is set for a fierce battle.

Trinamool Congress further declared that Jakir Hossain and Amirul Islam will be the party’s candidates for Jangipur and Samersganj respectively. With the announcement of dates, the political mercury in the state has been high as all the parties have started to chalk out their plans.

Bhabanipur in South Kolkata has been the seat from where Mamata has been contesting from a long time until she chose to contest from Nandigram in the recently concluded state elections. She was defeated by BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram following which she needed to contest from another seat in order to remain in the chair of CM. Following her defeat, Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Mamata Banerjee’s close confidant, vacated the seat of Bhabanipur in order to make a place for her party boss.

As per reports, the grand old party-Congress is unlikely to field a candidate from the high-profile seat of Bhabanipur in order to make it easy for the TMC patriarch. This makes the contest more important as the battle is said to be between the ruling AITC and the principal opposition party; Bharatiya Janata Party.

Posters and hoardings of Mamata Banerjee have already started to come up in the constituency as soon as the dates of the by-polls were announced by the Election Commission. BJP hasn’t declared its candidates till now but there are rumors doing the rounds. Tathagata Roy, Anirban Ganguly, Dinesh Trivedi are some of the names which are said to be the frontrunners for the seat. What makes the electoral battle so crucial is that Mamata’s victory margin in the seat has seen a sharp dip in the last election and moreover the seat has sufficient Gujarati and Marwari voters which BJP is eyeing upon.

The battle is said to be a high-profile contest and the counting of votes will take place on October 3.

Led by Bumrah and Shardul, India’s Triumph over England ends a 50-year Long Wait

The India Saga Saga |

After the Innings defeat in Leeds, team India redeemed itself with a historic 157-run win over England at the Oval on Monday. It was the fourth day of the Test and Indian bowlers managed to bowl out the entire team England for 210. On the final day, the target before the England cricketers was 368 and they succumbed before the Indian bowlers within only an hour into the final session.

With this historic win, India managed to take the unbeatable series lead of 2-1 in this five-match Test series. Winning this match was even more significant owing to the fact that it was only the second Test win of India at the Oval after the first win in 1971. On Monday, Virat Kohli[-led, India ended its 50-year old long run without a Test win at this venue. The first Test triumph was by four wickets under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar. It was the first time when the team India won a Test series on English soil.

In the latest match, the English batsmen marked their strong presence initially with a century-opening partnership. However, it came to an end when Shardul Thakur dismissed Rory Burns (50) just after reaching his half-century. Talking about Shardul’s contribution Indian Paced Jasprit Bumrah remarked at the post[-match conference, “It is massive. He played two crucial knocks that really helped us to gain momentum, even in the first innings he changed the momentum and the momentum clearly shifted in our favour.”

Interestingly, Jasprit on Monday earned the title of the fastest Indian pacer to reach 100 wickets in the Test games replacing Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev had made the previous record by taking 100 wickets in 25 Test matches. But, Jasprit took only 24 Test matches to reach the milestone. “We believed we could get all 10 wickets, we had the belief. As soon as the ball started reversing, Bumrah said give me the ball. He bowled that spell and swung the game in our favour with those two huge wickets,” Captain Kohli added when asked about Bumrah’s magical spell.

The disciplined bowling by the Indian bowlers and this unbeatable series lead have made every cricket fan forget the Innings defeat in the previous match. The fifth and final match of this Test series will begin on September 10 at Manchester’s Old Trafford.

Russian ambassador on increasing threat of terrorism in Kashmir and Russia

The India Saga Saga |

Keeping in mind the constantly increasing risk of terrorism in Kashmir (India) and Russia from Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, Russian ambassador, Nikolay Kudashev gave a statement on Monday in which he mentioned that both India and Russia have “common concerns” that Afghanistan should not be used to spread terrorism.
Kudashev informed a news agency on the sidelines of an event at the Russian embassy “As far as the phenomena of terror are concerned, we do share our concerns with India. There is a danger of terror being spread to the Russian territory and the territory of Kashmir. This is a matter of common concern Russia and China had last month abstained from voting on a UNSC resolution on Afghanistan saying that it didn’t name terror groups like ISIS and ETIM.

Kudashev said that there was ample scope for cooperation between India and Russia on Afghanistan and both sides have been in regular touch with each other.

“Both India and Russia are concerned about the situation in Afghanistan. We want an inclusive government. We want that the Afghan soil should not be a source of terror for other countries in the region,”  said Kudashev. He further added that recognition for the government was not an immediate area of focus.

When the Russian
Ambassador was questioned  about Pakistan’s support to terrorist groups which are  operating in Afghanistan, he clearly said, Russia expects Pakistan to be among the countries that would like to see predictability and a secure environment in Afghanistan.

Kudashev elaborated that tackling the threat of terror had been a matter of continued dialogue between Russia and India under multiple frameworks, including the bilateral mechanism of the counter-terror working group.

Nikolay Kudashev concluded by giving his his final statement as, “Counter-terrorism is part of each and every bilateral meeting. Rest assured we know about this danger and we are most willing to cooperate to deal with it,”.
We are for an inclusive government in Afghanistan that can ensure sustainable development in the war-torn country. The Afghan people deserve peace, stability, and sustainable development just as any other nation in the world”.
