Security Plan Developed Before Winter Session: Raises Doubts Following Chaos in Parliament

sachin |

New Delhi: It has been shockingly revealed that a security plan for the Parliament complex was drafted just days before the recent Winter Session when two men broke through and entered the Lok Sabha chamber. Given that the breach happened despite preventive measures, this detail raises doubts about the measures’ efficacy.

According to sources, all staff members received directives from the New Delhi district police before the meeting. The main goals of these orders were to stop protests from happening close to the complex and to hold people who seemed suspicious. It was also reportedly instructed in detail how many police officers were to be stationed at different locations.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the security wing of the Delhi Police held a review meeting in response to a possible threat from Simranjit Singh Pannun, the leader of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) banned group. This implies that security concerns were more widely known before the start of the session.

On Wednesday, December 13, two men could get past security despite these preventative measures. They caused chaos and fear by leaping from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber, releasing yellow smoke canisters, and yelling slogans. This poses essential queries regarding the efficacy of the security plan that has been put in place and any potential weaknesses within

On Wednesday, December 13, two men could get past security despite these preventative measures. They caused chaos and fear by leaping from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber, releasing yellow smoke canisters, and yelling slogans. This poses essential queries regarding the efficacy of the security plan that has been put into place, as well as any possible weaknesses.

Experts have identified numerous areas of concern. It’s especially concerning how easily the intruders could enter the chamber despite the police presence and more stringent visitor pass verification protocols. Examined are the efficaciousness of emergency response protocols and crowd control measures.

The breach in Parliament has led to much political discussion and public outcry. Opponents are requesting that the security lapses be thoroughly investigated and that strict reforms be put in place to stop future occurrences of this kind. It is anticipated that the Delhi Police-led investigation, which is still underway, will provide more information about the particulars of the breach and the parties involved.

Security officials have reassured the public that significant revisions are being made to the Parliament’s security plan. They claim the emphasis is on tightening visitor verification procedures and keeping illegal vehicles out of the complex.

The security breach at the Parliament still warrants immediate and decisive action. The specifics of the pre-existing security plan further raise questions about how such a flagrant breach could happen. A comprehensive investigation and significant reforms are imperative to rebuild public trust and guarantee the security of the nation’s highest legislative body.

Parliament in disarray: 14 opposition MP’s suspended over protests of security breaches

TheIndiaSaga Team |

A day after two men with smoke cans broke through security and leapt into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery in Parliament, opposition MPs’ demands for a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and a discussion of the breach, turned into a full-fledged conflict between the Opposition and the government on Thursday.

This resulted in contentious scenes, several adjournments, and the suspension of 14 MPs for the balance of the Winter Session: 13 from the Lok Sabha and one from the Rajya Sabha.

A complaint was filed against them under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), an anti-terror law. The anti-terror unit particular cell is looking into the situation.

On Thursday, the parliamentary proceedings proceeded under heightened security. Security personnel kept a close eye on things all day. Before entering the Parliament entry gates, each visitor was required to present a valid entry pass and other documentation, a Delhi police official stated

Parthiban’s name was removed from the list of Lok Sabha members suspended earlier in the day, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, because staff members misidentified the member.

Derek O’Brien of the TMC was suspended from the Rajya Sabha, while up to thirteen opposition MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha for interfering with the proceedings. Manickam Tagore, Benny Behanan, V K Sreekandan, Mohammad Jawed, Hibi Eden, T N Prathapan, Jothimani, Ramya Haridas, and Dean Kuriakose of the Congress, P R Natarajan and S Venkatesan of the CPM, Kanimozhi of the DMK, and K Subbarayan of the CPI are the 13 members.

The Opposition INDIA bloc referred to the move as “dictatorial” and declared that they would keep pushing for Shah to make a statement in both Houses.

Senior ministers, however, requested that the Opposition refrain from politicizing the matter and informed the two Houses that a high-level investigation had already been ordered into the Wednesday incident.

The BJP president J P Nadda, Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Anurag Thakur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah met earlier.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warned lawmakers to use caution when issuing visitor passes to individuals during his speech in the Lok Sabha. “I have faith in the future. All Members of Parliament, whether from the Treasury or the Opposition, must be vigilant and cautious. Whom we grant passes to ought not to enter the House and instigate chaos. The Opposition, as well as the Treasury, must make sure of this. There have also been protests, paper throwing, and jumping in our previous Parliament. Together, we must denounce it, he said.

Derek O’Brien was suspended by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar for “unruly behavior” and “misconduct” after the TMC floor leader approached the chairman’s podium and began yelling slogans.

Senior ministers Goyal in the Rajya Sabha and Joshi in the Lok Sabha pleaded with the Opposition not to politicize the breach in both Houses. Opposition members in both Houses demanded action against Pratap Simha, a BJP MP, who had suggested visitor passes for the two men who had leapt into the Lok Sabha chamber on Wednesday. They also held signs calling for Shah’s resignation.

The 13 MPs were suspended in two phases on motions submitted independently by Minister Joshi when the demonstrations persisted in the afternoon.

Sensex and Nifty Reach New Heights on Global Market Rally

The 30-share BSE Sensex, trading in early trade, cheered the move by rising 796.64 points to its all-time high of 70,381.24.

sachin |

On Thursday, India’s benchmark indexes reached all-time highs following a global rally that knocked on local markets. This increase came after the U.S. Federal Reserve signaled that it was close to ending its tightening cycle, which raised hopes for a possible rate cut in March 2024.

The S&P BSE Sensex surged 1.22% to reach 70,427.86 as of 11:25 a.m. IST, while the NSE Nifty 50 index increased by 1.13% to 21,163.05 points.

Several vital industries saw increases, with the Information Technology (I.T.) index driving the charge with an astounding 3% increase. With gains ranging from 2.5% to 3.5%, companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCLTech, LTIMindtree, and Wipro emerged as the top Nifty 50 gainers.

The rise in I.T. stocks, which get significant revenue from the United States, coincided with the Fed’s admission that it had made “real progress” in reducing inflation while keeping interest rates on hold.

Sensex scales new peak

The 30-share BSE Sensex, trading in early trade, cheered the move by rising 796.64 points to its all-time high of 70,381.24. The Nifty reached its record high of 21,148.45 after a 222.1-point rally. The top gainers among the Sensex companies were Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Wipro, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, and ICICI Bank. Among the laggards were Power Grid, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, and Nestle.

Tokyo quoted lower than Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, all trading in positive territory in the Asian markets.

On Wednesday, the U.S. markets concluded with notable gains. For the third time in a row, the Federal Reserve left its benchmark interest rate unchanged on Wednesday, suggesting that it is probably finished raising rates after enacting the quickest series of increases in four decades to combat excruciatingly high inflation.

Reasons for Market Rally

Several factors fueled the market’s recent bull run:

  • The U.S. Federal Reserve’s dovish stance, which signaled possible rate cuts 2024 while maintaining its key interest rate at current levels, increased risk appetite across international markets, including those in India.
  • Positive Asian Cues: Investor confidence in India was further enhanced by notable gains in Asian markets, notably in China and Japan.
  • Sturdy Corporate Earnings: Several Indian companies, especially those in the telecom and I.T. sectors, released robust earnings reports contributing to the upbeat atmosphere.

According to the Fed’s statement yesterday, the tightening cycle is over, and three rate cuts in 2024 are possible. The Dow’s historic rally will cause many indexes to set new records, predicts V.K. Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued their buying trend on Wednesday by purchasing stocks worth ₹4,710.86 crore. Brent crude’s global oil benchmark rose by 0.30% to $74.48 per barrel.

India’s wholesale price inflation reached an 8-month high of 0.26% in November

TheIndiaSaga Team |

According to data released by the commerce ministry on December 14, wholesale inflation in India increased to 0.26 percent in November, breaking out of the deflationary zone for the first time since March 2023. In October 2023, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation rate was -0.52 percent; in November 2022, it was 6.12 percent.

The most recent wholesale inflation figure, at 0.26 percent, is the highest in eight months. The WPI data was released two days after the Ministry of Statistics reported that headline retail inflation increased to 5.55 percent in November, a three-month high. However, it was still 189 basis points below the 15-month high of 7.44 percent in July. Over the same time frame, wholesale inflation has increased by 149 basis points.

The government ascribed November’s positive inflation rate to higher costs for food items, minerals, computers, machinery and equipment, electronics and optical goods, automobiles, other transportation equipment, and other manufacturing, among other things.

The Wholesale Price Index, also known as the WPI, assesses how much the prices of goods wholesale businesses trade and sell in bulk with other companies have changed. WPI tracks factory gate prices before retail prices, in contrast to the Consumer Price Index, or CPI, which tracks consumer purchase costs of goods and services.

In November, the core inflation rate was -0.4%, down from -1% in the previous month.
In comparison to October 2023, the prices of minerals (-0.41%), natural gas and crude oil (-4.79%), and non-food items (-0.24%) decreased in November 2023. In November 2023, the price of food items grew by 2.62% over the previous month.

The average WPI inflation for the first eight months of 2023–24 is -1.33 percent, which is harmful even though it went above zero in November. Although further increases are possible in the upcoming months, most economists predict it will average approximately 1 percent for the entire year. The nominal GDP growth of the nation, which the 2023–24 Budget projected would be 10.5 percent while estimating tax revenue and other expenses, may be jeopardized by this.

According to the most recent data, nominal GDP growth was only 8.6 percent in the first half of 2023–2024.

However, Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran has raised the possibility that India’s GDP growth rate is being underestimated.

“It is a theoretical possibility that when you have a tax buoyancy which is as high as 1.9 or close to 2, which is historically unprecedented, then it is quite possible that we are not measuring the economy’s underlying momentum and activity and dynamism as we should be,” Nageswaran had stated on November 30.

Parliament Breach: Families Dealing with the Repercussions

TheIndiaSaga Team |

The “Big Breach” has shocked the country with its devastating effects and betrayed trust. In the background, a quieter storm rages within the families of those directly involved while the public analyzes the details and authorities race to find answers; the one reason they gave for the issue is unemployment.

According to the family, one of the four protestors detained for breaching Parliament’s security was depressed because she didn’t have a job. Yesterday at Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, two men, Sagar Sharma and D Manoranjan, leaped from the visitors’ gallery and into the chamber, causing shocking scenes. One tried to get to the Speaker’s Chair by opening a yellow smoke canister and jumping from desk to desk.

Neelam Azad and Amol Shinde, two additional demonstrators, were observed discharging color smoke from an aerosol canister on the road outside the Parliament. According to Neelam’s family, she passed the central exams required to be hired as a teacher and finished the M.Phil. research program.

She has a lot of qualifications, but she needed to get hired. Her mother, Saraswati, told reporters that she was so stressed out that she would frequently say things like, “I should just die because I am unable to earn two meals despite studying so much.”

Ramniwas, Neelam’s brother, informed reporters that he learned about the incident through a family member who called him to check the TV.

She does not belong to any political party and attends school in Hisar. She didn’t tell us why she did it. We will know once we get to meet her. One of our brothers called to let us know about the incident. Just two days ago, she returned home,” Ramniwas said to the press.

On the other hand, Amol Shinde’s mother said to the press that Amol had been depressed due to his failure to clear the army recruitment. “we do not know how what caused him to do this, but he had been feeling sad as, despite his efforts, he wasn’t getting in. What’s the use of my education and preparation if I can’t get in? He used to say.” since he was now too old to apply under the magnifier scheme, he had been looking at other options.

Devaraje Gowda, Manoranjan’s father, declared that his son ought to be “hanged” if he had committed any wrongdoing. “The Parliament is ours… Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi are just two of the many individuals who built that temple… Even though it is my son, this behavior with the temple is unacceptable,” Mr. Gowda declared.

Sagar Sharma, a resident of Lucknow, is one of four family members. His job is as an e-rickshaw rider. According to his family, he informed them that he would be attending a protest in Delhi for two days.

Breach of Trust: How Two Men Maneuvered Past the Fortifications of Parliament

TheIndiaSaga Team |

Nationwide shockwaves have been caused by the recent incident in which two men managed to elude Parliament House security and disrupt proceedings. The act’s audacity and the apparent ease with which they moved around the ostensible fortress have caused serious concerns about the efficacy of our security protocols. It is necessary to investigate the particular vulnerabilities used to comprehend how this breach of trust happened.

Officials from the Parliament Security Services and Delhi Police said that several factors, including fewer security personnel, lower height of the visitors’ gallery from the House floor in the new Parliament building, an increase in recent visits, and the failure to check shoes, were involved in the security breach that occurred on Wednesday at the Lok Sabha.

Furthermore, it has been discovered that the Delhi Police security wing held a meeting to assess the security measures around Parliament. This came after the separatist leader of Khalistan, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, threatened to attack Parliament “on or before December 13” on December 6.

While acknowledging that a meeting and discussions regarding increased deployment occurred, a senior police officer clarified that this was unrelated to Pannun’s threat. The number of Delhi Police officers deployed has risen from 250 to 300 last month.

According to sources in Delhi Police, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan Drea, she reached the visitors’ gallery just before 1 pm, according to sources in the Delhi Police. There are six galleries, with the frontmost row sitting approximately ten and a half feet above the MPs’ seats.

Layers of Lapses in Parliament

The trespassers went through the visitors’ gallery, which, in contrast to other entry points, has a less stringent screening process. Their dramatic jump revealed a physical vulnerability because no substantial barriers separated the chamber from the gallery.

Remarkably, shoes were not thoroughly inspected, so the men could stuff smoke canisters inside them. This was a critical oversight in an otherwise rigorous screening process.

The plastic smoke canisters eluded the attention of metal and scanner detectors, potentially revealing a security technology blind spot. This demonstrates how security equipment must constantly be upgraded and adapted to keep up with changing threats.

Later, at a meeting with various floor leaders and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, it was suggested that glass be installed in front of the visitor galleries.

A Parliament Security Services team member, consisting of the Delhi Police and the CRPF, stated that despite having a small staff, they have been dealing with “hundreds of visitors every day,” mainly since the new Parliament was inaugurated.

Lok Sabha in Chaos: Canister-wielding Duo Leaps from Visitors’ Gallery!

TheIndiaSaga Team |

Today, a startling security breach occurred in the sacred chambers of the Lok Sabha, the Indian Parliament. A scene befitting a political thriller unfolded as two people, purportedly carrying canisters, leaped from the visitors’ gallery, causing chaos throughout the ongoing meeting. Even though the specifics and composition of the canisters are still unknown, the event has brought up grave concerns regarding the safety of the country’s upper House of Lawmakers.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 13, while the Winter Session was in session. The proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm by BJP member Rajendra Agrawal, who was presiding over the meeting.

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament, Member of Parliament Arvind Sawant claimed that two men leaped into the chamber from the gallery and then moved from bench to bench to advance. “Unidentified, yellow-colored gas that caused burning sensation in the nose” was released by the men, he continued.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress MP, claimed that the men were carrying tear gas canisters. “One person leapt over the benches of the Lok Sabha while another was seen dangling from the public gallery spraying some tear gas when Zero Hour was in progress,” he stated.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay, a TMC MP, also discussed the “awful experience” in the interim. “Anyone could surmise neither their target nor the reason behind their actions. It was a security breach, but we all left the House immediately. With instruments that released smoke, how could they get inside? he stated.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that he witnessed two young men release foul-smelling, yellow-colored gas from canisters inside the Parliament gallery. The MPs ran to seize these men. Someone was brandishing some signs. This calls into serious doubt the security of the new Parliament building in another area.”

Interestingly, today, December 13, marks the anniversary of the five-person armed attack on the Parliament in 2001. Two members of the Parliament Security Service, six Delhi Police officers, and a gardener were slain. Security forces killed all of the attackers.

India has accused Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), two militant organizations with bases in Pakistan, of carrying out the attacks in 2001. But the LeT has denied any involvement.
