Yogi Adityanath, Big B and Shah Rukh Khan among several others to have lost their Verified Blue Tick on Twitter

The India Saga Saga |

On Thursday, Twitter eliminated the traditional ‘blue tick’ verification badge for users who have not signed up for the platform’s paid service, which costs roughly ₹650 per month on the web and ₹900 on the mobile app in India. After the introduction of the subscription, a considerable number of prominent personalities in India, including several famous celebrities and the majority of chief ministers, have had their blue marks removed.

Some noteworthy individuals who have lost their verification badges include Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi. Moreover, Twitter’s new subscription-based verification policy has resulted in the loss of verified status for other political figures like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi from Congress.

Verification badges of political parties’ official Twitter handles, including those of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress, were also lost. Twitter has undergone substantial changes in its approach to verifying users with the highly sought-after blue checkmarks since being taken over by Elon Musk. Previously, these badges were awarded to prominent individuals, journalists, executives, politicians, and organisations following identity verification, serving as a symbol of their legitimacy.

Musk has introduced fresh regulations to encourage users to opt for the paid features of the platform, which he considers crucial for Twitter’s potential revenue expansion. Last month, Musk tweeted about a 50% decline in advertising revenue from October to March, underlining the necessity for alternative revenue streams. Twitter has extended the deadline to Thursday for verified users to decide on whether they want to pay for service after initially announcing plans to remove old verification badges.

As per the news agency, currently, only a minor proportion of Twitter users, roughly around 1 per cent, have opted for the subscription service known as ‘Twitter Blue’. On the other hand, users who retained a blue checkmark were shown a pop-up message stating that their account had been verified due to their subscription to Twitter Blue and confirmation of their phone number. Interesting to note that Pope Francis, former US president Donald Trump, and Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates were among those who had their verification badges revoked.

Suvendu Adhikari attacks Mamata Banerjee with remark ‘queen bee of the corruption hive’

The India Saga Saga |

On Wednesday, West Bengal leader of opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari attacked the CM Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of supporting the ‘culprit’ facing corruption charges under the investigation by central agencies. Adhikari also said that he will ‘expose’ a three-times Bengal CM give a ‘befitting reply’ on Thursday. In a tweet, Suvendu Adhikari expressed his satisfaction with the fear he instilled in someone. He criticised the use of the derogatory term “Kimbhut Kimakar” towards him, which was previously used towards the Honourable Prime Minister.

He also mentioned that the person used a landline to make a call to Delhi and that he would expose them at an appropriate time, promising a fitting response the next day. Additionally, the BJP leader referred to Mamata as the “Queen Bee of the corruption hive” in his scathing attack on the Chief Minister. Adhikari accused the ruling party of hypocrisy, as their claims of having “Zero Tolerance” towards corruption were contradicted by the recent arrest of their own MLAs on corruption charges.

He criticised their defence of the accused individuals, who were allegedly recruited through illegal means, and called out their support for them. Adhikari went on to shame the party leader, referring to them as the “Queen Bee of the Corruption Hive.” Additionally, he claimed that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) only came to power in 2011 due to his role as in-charge of several crucial districts in the state.

“The reason for your persistent mention of Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Malda, and Medinipur may lie in your subconscious awareness that your rise to power in 2011 was largely due to my leadership in these districts. Your insignificant nephew only entered the scene after July 2011,” he said. During a previous part of the day, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, criticised the Centre led by the BJP and expressed that the BJP would not emerge victorious in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024.

During a press conference, she commented that the BJP, being in power, tends to act as they please, but they fail to realise that power is only temporary, and while chairs may change, democracy will always prevail. She emphasised that although the Constitution may undergo some amendments, it cannot be trampled upon. She also predicted that the BJP would not emerge victorious in the upcoming 2024 election, just as they failed to win the 2021 Bengal election, despite their “200 paar” slogan. In her opinion, the BJP’s power will not exceed 200 in the 2024 Delhi elections.

BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari demands the CBI probe against Mamata Banerjee in Saradha Scam

The India Saga Saga |

On April 19th, 2023, Wednesday, West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari lashed out at the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government and also demanded the central agencies probe the Chief Minister of Bengal, under the Saradha scam. A fresh notice by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) to TMC National Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee in which the agency’s action has been called as ‘energetic’ as well as ‘prompt’. He was asked to be presented before the agency by CBI  in connection with the Saradha scam in the state.

“CBI is doing an accomplished and energetic task. In spite of such stubbornness from the government of state, the agency is doing good work. A TMC MLA Jiban Krishna Saha tried to seize his phone from the officers and also tried to demolish the evidence. The CBI’s action is right and this should not stop, or else Bengal CM and her party leaders will destroy the evidence.” said the BJP leader. The central agencies should probe CM Mamta Banerjee in relation with the alleged Saradha case scam, he further urged.

“These Bua-Bhatija (Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee) should be questioned and some action is required to be taken against both of them. CBI has enough evidence to probe against them in this scam but it is not even investigating. If Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal can be questioned over the excise policy case, then why can’t Mamata?” said the BJP leader. Manish Sisodia, former Deputy CM of New Delhi was investigated for more than nine hours by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) in connection with the Excise policy scam, in which he has been already arrested.

The CM of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee had recently demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for saying that the TMC government will collapse if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins 35 seats from West Bengal in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The sources said that Mamta Banerjee called Amit Shah a ‘gunda’. Because of the fear of psychosis, she is giving such dishonourable statements. CM Mamata Banerjee called Amit Shah more than four times in the month of March requesting him to look at the situation depicting the national status of TMC, but Amit Shah clearly mentioned that the ECI is an independent and constitutional body and works as per the laws. Mamata’s TMC has not faced an ‘active opposition’ like BJP under its rule in the state.

Veronika Yogini: A successful yoga teacher shares her motivation for good living with Sthira Yoga School

The India Saga Saga |

Veronika Gasiunaite Lucinske, known by her stage name Veronika Yogini, is a yoga, meditation, and mindfulness teacher based in London, UK. Originally from Lithuania, Veronika has always had a passion for helping others, which led her to pursue studies in social pedagogy, psychology, physical applied education, music, and art.

Veronika discovered yoga over 10 years ago after a car accident severely impacted her mental health, causing panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. She found solace in the practice and learned how to use yoga tools to improve her well-being. Inspired by her transformation, Veronika became a qualified yoga teacher two years ago, and most recently upgraded her qualifications with a 500 TTC at Sthira Yoga School in India. She can be stated as saying, “I found Yoga at a very important age in my life. It has helped me regain the life I once lived, not only in my body but also in my mind. For those who do not believe in the powers of Yoga, my experience with it is testimony to why this ancient practice needs to be adopted by many others who are struggling.”

Veronika believes that by learning how to use yoga tools, individuals can become better versions of themselves and ultimately lead to a healthier society. What she finds most interesting about yoga is that it is a lifestyle that can help individuals understand themselves better and work towards their goals. Veronika practices what she preaches by meditating every day and prioritizing her mental health. She believes that taking care of oneself through all layers is essential, which is why she also balances her physical asana practices and other interests such as reading, playing the piano, and exploring the world through travel.

Her unique combination of interests and experiences has allowed her to bring a well-rounded approach to her teaching. She has a curious and creative mindset and is constantly growing and believing in a better tomorrow while enjoying her present. Veronika’s philosophy is that where one puts their mindset is what one can achieve, and she truly believes in herself and her abilities. This is an ideology that not everyone can enjoy since, many of us restrict ourselves to striving to be the best at what we do, rather than enjoying the process.

In the future, her plans involve continuing to share her knowledge with the growing mindful community by giving yoga lessons, seminars, and retreats. Her goal is to touch the hearts of those in need and remind them that they are not alone. We hope that Veronika Yogini keeps making news in the years to come.
