This Dhanteras, know why it is ‘shubh’ to buy gold!

The India Saga Saga |

The festive season has begun, and following Dussehra and Karwa Chauth, Dhanteras is one of the most anticipated celebrations preceding Diwali. On this day, people put on new clothes, perform puja, and shop for gold and silver trinkets and jewelry.

When does Dhanteras fall?

Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi is celebrated every year on the Trayodashi date, which is the thirteenth day of Kartik month’s Krishna Paksha, according to the Hindu calendar. This year, the auspicious day falls on November 13, just a day before Diwali. The festive season has begun, and following Dussehra and Karwa Chauth, Dhanteras is one of the most anticipated celebrations preceding Diwali. People put on new garments and perform puja on this day.

What is the significance of Dhanteras?

Dhanteras is marked by the worship of Lord Dhanvantari and the purchase of new items, primarily gold, silver, and utensils. This day is considered highly auspicious for those who like to shop for such items, as gold and silver are thought to protect you from evil omen and anything unpleasant. They are also thought to bring good fortune and success. Yes, there’s a full backstory to it.

Dhanteras is known for its auspicious shopping, which includes gold, silver, and utensils. However, there is a list of items that should not be done or purchased on this particular day. Dhanteras is the most auspicious time to shop for new stuff, but not so much if you want to exchange gifts. It is not advisable to present gifts on this day because it is thought that gifting someone something on Dhanteras will bring them good luck and great energy.

Because people have not spent much on vacation due to covid, gold sales during Dhanteras could break a four-decade old record, according to IBJA officials. Aside from that, elaborate ritual gathering spending was uncommon, and people had to save. People may spend more on gold because the Covid effect is expected to be reduced, according to the News18 report.

Aroscop, an ad-exchange platform, recently performed pan-India research to determine demand and readiness to buy products. When asked about their propensity to acquire gold, 55% of respondents said they are looking forward to purchasing gold and gold jewellery during the forthcoming holiday season. According to a PTI article, almost 37% of participants stated the auspicious event Dhanteras would be their key reason for purchasing gold.

Meanwhile, ahead of Diwali and Dhanteras, e-commerce behemoth Amazon has announced deals and discounts on gold and silver coins and jewellery. In the meantime, instead of buying actual gold for Diwali and Dhanteras, consumers can invest in digital gold this year. You can begin investing with as little as Rs 1. BharatPe, a payment platform, has partnered with Safegold to launch the offer.

Ola pushes back a new date to book electric scooters under pressure to ‘deliver’

The India Saga Saga |

The buying window for Ola Electric was supposed to open today. Customers will be able to take test rides starting this month, and S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters will be delivered soon after. The wait to acquire an Ola Electric scooter has grown lengthier, with the electric two-wheeler maker from Tamil Nadu putting back the new buying window until next month. Ola Electric said in a statement on Sunday that it is “busy completing existing orders” for its S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, citing “record demand.”

The EV maker has stated that the buying window will now open on December 16, rather than November 1, as previously announced.“We will be opening our purchase window for fresh orders on 16th December, 2021. We will reach out to you in the coming weeks to schedule your test ride,” read the statement Ola Electric shared with its customers.

For two days in September, Ola Electric has allowed bookings for the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters at a cost of $499. In those two days, Ola Electric claimed to have received bookings worth over Rs. 1,100 crore. Ola just stated that, for the first time since its August 15 launch, it will begin offering test rides of its electric scooters on November 10. It also stated that the final payment for the S1 and S1 Pro e-scooters will be postponed until November, without specifying a specific date.

Earlier this year, the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters were released. Ola Electric’s S1 electric scooter has sparked a lot of interest in the Indian automotive sector, and it’s the first of numerous battery-powered possibilities the business has planned. The Ola S1 is priced at Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom), while the S1 Pro is priced at Rs. 1.30 lakh.

On a single charge, the S1electric scooter is said to have a range of roughly 120 kilometres. It comes in ten colour variations and is powered by an 8.5kW electric motor and a 3.97kWh battery pack. The S1 Pro electric scooter has a range of 180 kilometres on a single charge and a top speed of 115 kilometres per hour. The Ola Future Factory, which is located in Tamil Nadu, is now home to the S1 electric scooters. According to corporate executives, it has a stated capacity of rolling out one unit every two seconds over a 500-acre area. The facility’s staff is completely made up of women, and when it reaches full capacity, Ola Electric will employ 10,000 people, making it the world’s largest women-only factory.

Akhundzada, Taliban’s highest leader, makes first public appearance in Afghanistan

The India Saga Saga |

Taliban sources reported on October 31 that the Taliban’s reclusive supreme leader, Haibatullah Akhundzada, made a rare public appearance in the southern city of Kandahar, defying widespread rumours that he had died. Even after the Taliban took over the country in August, Akhundzada, also known as the leader of the faithful or Amir ul Momineen, had not been seen in public, leading to conjecture. On October 30, Akhundzada visited Jamia Darul Aloom Hakimia, a religious school in Kandahar, according to a top Taliban leader who was present at the event.

After U.S.-led forces withdrew in September, the Islamist movement’s provisional government was disclosed, and mysterious Akhundzada remained his post as supreme commander, with ultimate control over the group’s political, religious, and military matters, which he had held since 2016. Despite the fact that some officials claim Akhundzada has made unannounced public appearances in the past, this was the first verifiable appearance of a man who has had a low public profile for a long time.

The only photo of him that Reuters could find was an undated image shared on a Taliban Twitter account in May 2016. Because of his enigmatic existence, there has been continual conjecture about his whereabouts and health. For years, the Taliban have refused to acknowledge the death of Mullah Omar, the Taliban’s founder, and initial supreme leader.

Making Rajkot a super city- Social worker Hiren Khimaniya talks about his vision and challenges

The India Saga Saga |

It is the little efforts that add up to big victories. This ideology drives social worker Hiren Khimaniya who works at the basic level to improve the living conditions for the people of Rajkot. Hiren envisions a developed India without the issues that citizens struggle with each day. He believes that if all of us work hard for our immediate surroundings, the day is not far when India will be a superpower. Hiren loves Rajkot immensely and dreams that it becomes a super city.

The way he works at the root level to resolve the issues is an inspiration for leaders across the country. At the root of his passion and motivation is simple teaching from his mother Mrs. Radhaben Khimaniya. She told him that everyone must give more to the world than they take from it. This became the driving force for Hiren, who now works incessantly for the well-being of people.

As the corporator of ward no.1 in Rajkot, Hiren aims to be a politician who doesn’t abuse his power but works to honor the trust that people invest in him. He is doing commendable work and trying to check corruption at all levels to ensure that citizens get what they deserve. Hiren also works as the chairman of RMC i.e Rajkot Municipal Corporation. Some of the areas where he focuses his energy are education, food, and sanitation.

Hiren who is also the chairman of Drainage Samiti of Rajkot Municipal Corporation states that the residents make up a city and country and their financial condition shouldn’t affect their human rights. This is why Hiren and his team are working hard to put an end to manual scavenging. They have procured drainage cleaning systems and are committed to training the employees to use these machines.  Hiren has also made arrangements for masks and sanitizers to be available to sweepers. He thinks that it is a great risk to the health of poor workers if they are not provided sanitizers.

Hiren also organized meals for families of daily wage workers during the lockdown. He hopes that no one goes hungry and thus is instrumental in the effective execution of Prime Minister’s Garib Kalyan food scheme. In the past, Hiren has organized numerous camps to distribute food packets to poor families. He admits that it is a challenge to help the packets reach the intended recipients without being misused by other greedy people.

Hiren identifies reluctance to send children to school as one of the major challenges in achieving the goal of education for all. Additionally, he thinks the unaffordability of higher education and accommodation facilities is also a roadblock for this dream. Hiren works hard to bridge these gaps. He counsels parents from low-income families to send their kids to school. He is the social work trustee for PD Malaviya college and trustee for innovative international schools.  The 31-year-old is also the vice president of Ahir Boarding Rajkot that offers low-cost accommodation to students.

We hope to have more social workers like Hiren and wish that his dream of super city Rajkot comes true.

Indian Spectrum- SDPI: Raising Paradigm of Solid Urge for Socio-Cultural Transformation of India

The India Saga Saga |

MK Faizy

Post-independence, India is slowly falling short of its goals. The country is now going through a period of forgetting the common people who, dreaming the liberation and prosperity of the country, had surrendered their everything.

Now, the characteristics of our country for which we were proud of are being alienated from us, one by one. Secularism, democracy, equality, and social justice are weakened. Instead, corruption, communalism, and imperialism are getting place among the politicians and bureaucrats.

The serious situation is that all the basic features of democracy are shattered.  And only the interests of upper classes and castes are protected. Political organisations are meant to be corrective forces in a democratic setup, but they have become a purchasable stuff now.

In such an unfortunate situation, likeminded people from different organizations sat together.  And as a result of their thoughts and discussions, Social Democratic Party of India was formed.  The party was constituted aiming the political empowerment of all the marginalised and backward communities of the country including Muslims.

The party was formed after studying well the situation in Independent India, aiming to construct a new Indian narrative where all sections of people will be empowered and have equal rights. The event of its formation was declared at the ‘Press Club of India’, in New Delhi, on 21st June 2009. The organisation has completed 12 years in the field of its activities.

In the year 2010 the Central Election Commission granted registration to the party. At present, the party is functioning in 22 States. In almost all states the party has its cadres and setups. State committees of the party are functioning in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Delhi and Rajasthan.

New Paradigm

The party puts forward a new political outlook before the people of India.  SDPI demands that enough representation should be guaranteed for all sections of the country in legislation, executive, judiciary, etc.

Party’s basic and fundamental slogan is ‘Freedom from Fear, Freedom from Hunger.’ SDPI understands that two kinds of liberation are to be pursued for the comprehensive development of the people.  Now, the people of India are facing different kinds of fear and hunger.

The agendas of dominant parties don’t include the serious issues like poverty, price-hikes, downfall of industry and economy, unemployment, homelessness of the people, scarcity of drinking water and so on. They are making unnecessary issues and opposing each other to create a space in the society.   Most of the parties are led by procedures based on the interest of either a top leader or a traditional ruling family. Dominant parties are not working for the common people. Instead, they are serving the corporates, eying heavy funds from them.

Mission and Vision

It is the vision of SDPI that development is achieved when every citizen of the country can avail the primary requirements of housing, water, food, health, education, security, employment, etc. The Party puts forward constructive political efforts to empower Muslims, Dalits and other oppressed communities and religious minorities. SDPI stands as a political platform for the empowerment of all sections of the society, vulnerable and marginalised.

SDPI offers an idea of eco-friendly development. People should never be victims of development. The benefits of development should be equally available to all human beings without discrimination. SDPI   believes that ensuring balanced distribution of national wealth is the fundamental responsibility of the government.  Therefore, SDPI proposes short-term and long-term plans to protect rights, equality and justice.

• Stand up for equal justice, equal freedom and opportunity enshrined in the Constitution

• Ensure civil rights and mobilise people in the struggle for democracy

• Provide security and dignity to the marginalised classes

• Strengthen national unity and communal harmony

• Ensure human rights, rule of law and democratic rights of the citizens

• Empowerment of Adivasis, Dalits and religious minorities, backward classes

• Foster unity among the oppressed

These are some of the objectives of the party.

Democratic Participation

During a short span of time, the party could win the elections in the Grama Panchayats, Block Panchayats, District Panchayats, Municipalities, and Corporations in the States of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

Protests for Rights

SDPI gives top priority to protests for the rights of the people. Authoritarianism, fascist tendencies, and totalitarianism are the biggest threats to the Indian Union and the people of India. They are driven by racism and religious bigotry. The mission of SDPI is to provide the most effective prevention and treatment for this epidemic which is destroying all the features of India one by one. All Indians should stand up for the Rights of everyone, harmony, inclusion, and progress of our nation.

International flight suspension extended till November 30

The India Saga Saga |

India’s ban on scheduled international commercial passenger flights has been extended to November 30, according to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Last month, the DGCA extended the prohibition until October 31. The DGCA will not limit international all-cargo operations or flights specially permitted by the DGCA, as it did in the prior directive.

India, on the other hand, reopened its doors to tourists early this month. Since October 15, India has begun issuing new tourist visas to foreigners. Beginning November 15, the Union home ministry authorised foreign tourists to enter the country on flights other than chartered aircraft, as announced earlier in October. The decision was made, according to the MHA, to help the economy recover by boosting the declining tourism sector. The tourist and aviation industries were among the hardest hit by the Covid-19 outbreak.

In August, certain airports started to see an increase in passenger traffic. Even though growth was seen in the domestic passenger market. In August, passenger traffic at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport increased fourfold, indicating that Indians were travelling more. However, according to a forecast by credit ratings firm ICRA, the Indian aviation sector could potentially lose $26,000 crore in FY22. According to the research, the industry will require additional funding of Rs 45,000-47,000 crore from FY2022 to FY2024.

Domestic flights were allowed to fly at full capacity last week by the civil aviation ministry to aid the aviation sector. “However, the airlines/airport operators must ensure that the criteria for preventing the spread of COVID are carefully followed and that COVID appropriate behaviour is strongly enforced,” the ministry stated.

Amit Shah says ‘Must elect Yogi if you want to Elect Modi in 2024’

The India Saga Saga |

Former BJP President Amit Shah, who was in Lucknow, started BJP’s poll campaign for Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a gathering on Friday, Amit Shah said, “We have fulfilled all the promises made to the people of Uttar Pradesh but we need five years more to make UP as the number one state in the country.”

Amit Shah, Yesterday, kickstarted Bharatiya Janata Party’s poll campaign for the poll bound state of Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a mammoth rally in the State’s capital, Shah said “When Modi Ji is the Prime Minister, he gives all that is required by Uttar Pradesh. The foundation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which has to be won under the leadership of Modi Ji will be laid in the 2022 assembly elections here.”

Shah was all guns blazing against opposition parties but specifically Samajwadi Party. He attacked them by saying “Akhilesh Yadav used to say that people of BJP will not reveal the date of construction for grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, but I want to remind him that it was SP government in which Ram Bhakts were shot. But under our regime, very soon, a grand Ram Temple will be coming up in Ayodhya very soon. Earlier UP was lagging behind at the seventh spot in the economy but today UP stands at the second number in the country. Also, the ease of doing business index has improved and today UP is at number two spot.”

Praising the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, Shah said, “Even during the corona pandemic when people were worried that how will 22 crore people of UP be safe, UP CM Yogi Adityanath did an exemplary job and saved thousands of lives. Maximum testing of and vaccination of corona has been done in Uttar Pradesh.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) former chief, recalling the glorious past of the state, said “since the Mughal rule till the BJP came to power in 2017 with a full majority, it never appeared that Uttar Pradesh is the land of Baba Vishwanath, Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.”

Hailing the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Shah said, “Under the guidance of Modi Ji, Yogi Ji has run the government for the poor, women, youth and the unemployed.” Shah further urged people to elect Yogi Adityanath as UP CM in 2022 for Modi to be PM in 2024.

He also put a rest to the speculation of the BJP’s CM face by Hailing Yogi Adityanath and his work. The former BJP president who arrived in Lucknow was welcomed by senior leaders and ministers, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport Lucknow on his arrival. The Adani Group, led by Gautam Adani, invested in the travel booking app Cleartrip

The India Saga Saga |

The Adani Group, headed by billionaire Gautam Adani, announced on Friday that it will invest in Cleartrip Private Limited and take a large minority share in the online travel aggregator, which is part of the Flipkart Group.

“Through this investment, the Adani Group and the Flipkart Group will benefit from synergies that will deliver superior travel experiences to consumers as the travel industry in India sees a resurgence. Since the acquisition by the Flipkart Group, Cleartrip has seen 10x growth in flight bookings,” the Adani Group said. “Also, trends observed by Adani airports indicate that the number of passengers at airports has increased, reaching close to pre-covid highs. This partnership will further enable Cleartrip to transcend digital boundaries and bring end-to-end travel services online,” they added.

The following are ten issues to consider concerning the Adani-Flipkart deal:

1. Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship company of the Adani Group, has agreed to buy a “substantial minority investment” in Cleartrip for an undisclosed value, according to an exchange filing on Friday.

2. The transaction is expected to close in November, subject to customary closing conditions.

3. Investing in Cleartrip might help the port-to-power company’s plans to launch a super app and expand its airport management business. “The Cleartrip platform will become a critical component of our bigger SuperApp journey.” In a statement, Gautam Adani said, “We have a strong evolving partnership with Flipkart that covers numerous dimensions, including data centres, fulfillment centres, and now air travel.”

4. The investment would strengthen the strategic cooperation between the Adani Group and the Flipkart Group, as both companies strive to provide a diverse range of digital services to Indian consumers. As part of the investment, Cleartrip will also function as the Adani Group’s OTA partner.

5. By partnering with the Adani Group in areas such as travel-related products, loyalty programs, and other value-added services, Cleartrip hopes to provide consumers with a smooth travel experience and accelerate its growth.

6. According to Gautam Adani, “We have a strong evolving connection with Flipkart that spans numerous dimensions including data centres, fulfillment centres, and now air travel.” “It is such strategic alliances between domestic enterprises that will eventually lead to the creation of local jobs and an Atmanirbhar Bharat.” The Cleartrip platform will play a critical role in the larger SuperApp journey we’ve begun.”

7. “At the Flipkart Group, we are dedicated to offering consumers with experiences and opportunities to help them achieve their goals.” Cleartrip will continue to focus on providing easy and flexible travel experiences for its consumers as travel picks up in the coming months, according to Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart Group.

8. The new agreement will aid Adani in its struggle against competitor corporations who are developing all-in-one e-commerce apps.

9. In April, Flipkart Online Services Pvt secured an agreement with the Adani Group to construct one of India’s largest retail warehouses.

10. Adani Logistics is constructing a 534,000-square-foot fulfilment centre in Mumbai, which it will lease to Flipkart.
