Living the same dream, Sumit Singh Gandhi, a businessman by profession, has travelled to many locations while managing his job.

A business-savvy turned traveller, Sumit is a founder of CATKing, an ed-tech company. Keshav Chaturvedi is a communications professional and a writer. He is also an environment enthusiast, a photographer, and a traveller by passion. He recently launched an audio travel show with a podcast major – IVM Podcasts – called “Tedhe Medhe Raaste”.

Here he narrates his travel experiences in India and abroad. In this interview, he talks about more than two decades of his travel and the impact it had on him.  

Q: What can we expect in your travel podcast “Tedhe Medhe Raaste”?

A: This travel podcast is aimed at those listeners who want to relive a place through the stories and the experiences that a traveler shares. Instead of sharing information about where to stay, how to reach or what is the best time to visit, my podcast aims at information about the soul and pulse of the place.  

It’s a completely new medium and format and the main aim is to create a visual through words for the listeners – one that can transport them to that place and share the experience. 

Another thing that makes this podcast series unique is that it turns travel into a micro-experience. It’s not that it doesn’t talk about a city; but more than that, it talks about certain facets which may include a fort, a road, a person or a process, a product or a practice that in some cases doesn’t exist anymore. For example, in one of the podcasts, I talk about a car race championship that doesn’t exist anymore; or life at a place where there was no electricity some years ago, but is now fully electrified, but that’s how the experience becomes unique.   

Q: There is no dearth of travel shows on YouTube and also many travel podcasts are also making waves but it begs a question – why should we travel at all?

A:  Travelling is as innate a nature in humans as the urge to settle down. It’s latent in all of us. Human race grew because it kept moving from one place to another. It was essentially a fearless species. Getting out of Africa and then spreading all over the globe settling down in harsh terrains is what makes us unique. Other than humans, all the animal and fish species generally live in their ecosystem and rarely venture out. Whenever they do, it is generally under duress or faced with a loss of habitat. But the humans by instinct keep exploring the frontiers. It’s almost a visceral need – as the opening lines of famous TV series Star Trek said: “..to boldly go where no man has gone before.” This is trademark human instinct. 

If the humans stop travelling and exploring their surrounding they will start to decay. That’s why, traveling is so important. In modern times there is very little that’s left to explore. But the people must go out and see new places or connect with the nature in order to discover their own abilities, their resilience and experience the immensity and the power of nature. This way they will truly appreciate the progress our forefathers made and we will also learn to respect nature, in which we live. 

Q: Do you think COVID-19 pandemic will change the travel habits of people?

A: It’s a question I keep hearing from many travel enthusiasts and professionals from travel industry. My take is, in the short run yes. It will definitely restrict people’s movement. There will be protocols in place, like maintaining social distancing (though I prefer the term physical distancing, which it actually is), wearing masks and it is likely that some places may be out of bounds for some time and restrictions on the number of people at a particular place is also a probability. But if history is any indication, once the full vaccination achieves critical mass (close to 60 percent) people will revert to their old habits and the travelling may once again be back with a bang, nearly one and a half years from now.  

World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on June 14 by the World Health Organization (WHO). The purpose of the event is to raise global awareness about the importance of transfusion-safe blood and blood products. On this day, the international health community joins forces to remind the general public of the critical role that unpaid, voluntary blood donors play in their own health systems.

In the aftermath of the coronavirus outbreak, the need for blood donation has been emphasized once more. Throughout the pandemic, blood donors in various countries, particularly India, have continued to donate blood and plasma to patients who require transfusions despite limited mobility and other issues.

After The Lancet published the results of the RECOVERY clinical study, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Union health ministry removed the use of convalescent plasma for Covid-19 from their clinical treatment protocols last month.After 28 days, blood infusions of plasma with a higher quantity of antibodies failed to improve the recipient’s odds of life, according to the medical publication.

Patients with other life-threatening medical illnesses, such as thalassemia, anaemia, and blood cancers, require this important medical treatment at a time when hospital infrastructure is swamped with Covid cases. Because postpartum hemorrhage is one of the most common preventable causes of maternal death, blood shortages also impact women during childbirth.

As a result, the WHO has coined the slogan “Give blood, keep the world-beating” to commemorate the amazing service provided by blood donors all across the world. This critical endeavor during a medical emergency emphasizes the critical significance of well-organized, dedicated voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors in guaranteeing a safe and sufficient blood supply during normal circumstances.

COVID Update: According to the Union ministry of health and family welfare, India registered 70,421 cases and 3,921 deaths owing to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday, bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 29,510,410 and 374,305, respectively. The number of cases on Monday was the lowest since April 1, when 72,330 persons tested positive for the virus.

The health ministry also stated that over 119,000 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 28,162,947. The daily recoveries continue to outweigh the new cases for the 32nd day. Meanwhile, active cases have decreased to 973,158, accounting for 3.49 percent of the total caseload.

In the last 24 hours, about 1.5 million samples were tested for Covid-19, bringing the total number of samples tested to 379,624,626, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). In order to jumpstart their economies, numerous states and union territories (UTs) will see greater relaxations under their unlock plans starting Monday. Shops and malls are allowed to open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Delhi, while eateries are allowed to open with a 50% discount.

In India, a total of 253,195,048 people have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease, with 3,484,239 immunized in the last 24 hours. The first dose was given to 3,103,522 people, while the second and third doses were given to 380,717 people. Drones may soon be used to deliver vaccine doses to remote places in order to speed up the vaccination campaign. HLL Infra Tech Services Limited, on behalf of the ICMR, has requested expressions of interest for delivering vaccination doses and medications in such locations using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

As quoted above no ones life is as perfect as they want but with the time they nurture themselves with all the flaws within them and the journey of PHOTOWALE started with such imperfections. As it is said if you have enough courage within yourself to do something no one can ever stop you in your way. The journey of PHOTOWALE was all sudden and started back in 2016 when Yuvraj’s dream shattered of becoming an artist and he started with all the problems one can think of.

The very first of his work was his friend sisters marriage and it was in between the bridge one side friend and other side newly started work but if he would not have taken the risk that time we guess PHOTOWALE would not have been what it is today and he started with all the power and positive vibes within himself and for videography, he found one of his known videographers and for photography, he hired someone else along with him everything was going good before halfway when he was ditched out from that one individual (Photographer that he hired).

He wasn’t carrying any kind of equipment such as no camera no lights and no stands and for some point, he thought of dropping this work because it was not possible in such a short time to manage everything but without failing he put all my heart and managed everything in short period and within half an hour he somehow managed to get a camera and started snapping pictures and you won’t believe in me but he snapped every single picture in auto-mode after packing up he was not at all expecting a good review as he did everything in such a short period but when photos were out the results were all shocking for him cause the pictures were pretty much liked by everyone and only thing that said about his snaps was that “in every photo the emotions were captured beautifully” and they can be preserved lifetime and journey of PHOTOWALE all started from there.

Eventually in starting PhOTOWALE didn’t start with a huge banner they were not really paid for their every work. But everytime they tried to do something new with all their knowledge and skill that they had at that time, as time passed with Photographers and videographers renowned editors also joined the team and that’s when a proper company of PHOTOWALE started from there..

Whereas, another story of the film ‘Dussehra’, exposes the dark truth of social and political corruption. While Gulmohar gives birth to a different mode of cinema as an experimental cinema. 

Last month on May 17, 2021, Shahzad’s ambitious thriller love story Kabaad The Coin released on MX Player, featuring Vivaan Shah, Zoya Afroz, Atul Srivastava, and is directed by Varadraj Swami.
The story revolves around a boy named Bandhan, who lives in Mumbai chowl. One day he finds a bag, full of black antique coins, which is being searched by Mumbai police and the underworld.

Question: What is the subject of this film, Shahzad? What do you want to say about this film?

Answer: The film ‘Kabaad The Coin’ is based on the human psychology of money that describes various emotions love, romance, deceit, and deception. We often hear people saying, if you don’t have money then you have nothing. Money is everything, money is god. I want money, no matter from where it comes, whether the right way or wrong. There is a fight going on around the world for money. It’s like war and everyone is running after it and money is killing everyone. Keeping this story in mind, we have tried to convey this through the film.

Question: What made you think that this is the story you should work on?

Answer: I always like to work on original stories and to me, it doesn’t matter what category of the story is. you can watch any of my movies to date, I always try to convey whatever is on my mind and it hardly matters to me, what people will think. What I feel is, we are the trendsetter in the market, and whatever we will showcase will become a trend. As far as the question is concerned, from where did the idea of the story came from, so it is like, I have always been fascinated by realistic stories. Once, during the night time, I and Varadraj were coming from the shoot and on the roadside, and while on our way, I saw one wheel of the vehicle of a scrap dealer got broke and that person was trying to fix that wheel and was constantly hitting it with a hammer. But accidentally the hammer strikes his toe and blood started coming out. My heart trembled from inside. I called a mechanic and told him to fix the wheel and I will pay you the money. He did his job and we paid him. At that point in time itself, the story touched me and from there onwards this story unknowingly started running in my mind and today it is in front of you all.

Question: How long did it take to write the film?

Answer: It took almost six years to write this story. We worked on about fifty drafts Whenever we use to work on some different project, we used to take short breaks to work on the script. After every week or two, some new ideas used to hit our minds and we used to work on that as well and when the script finally got ready, we first narrated it to Ketan Mehta sir who is our mentor. He has always guided us. Whenever we start to work on a new story, we always consult him first. He has given a lot of valuable advice.
Even after we narrated the story, we still worked on its script for six months. When the final script was ready, then we narrated it to producers Babban Negi and Vivaan. Our working style is quite different.

Question: It took you a long time to write the script, whereas nowadays people complete the scripts in very little time…

Answer: I can’t talk much about people. Yes, I do agree that everyone has their own way, circumstances, and purpose. I always work on original stories that are different from my own experiences and for that, I have to do a lot of research and study, which is a challenging part. I take up challenges and fight it fiercely until and unless the soul comes into my story. Till then, I keep working on it. I write scripts for my satisfaction and not just to make money or to satisfy the producer. The most important thing for me is to get satisfied. This is the reason why it took so long to complete the script of this film.

Question: What kind of stories do you like?

Answer: Look, I am not a traditional writer that I start working on a particular genre. I write on the comedy and thriller genres. The story that touches me and starts hammering my mind, again and again, I’ll start working on it. I think very freely and this is the reason why every film of mine is completely different from each other. 

Question: What is the basis of your selection of the stories?

Answer: Before starting with any story, first what I see is whether there is a soul or not. What is the range of the story? How many colors are there in it? What is the realistic approach? How original is the story and most importantly, what the story will convey? How much positivity is there in it? How much you can laugh at it or how much it can make you cry or how much it entertains you? So, many such factors are kept in mind before working on any of the stories.

Question: As a writer, do you feel now you have incorporated every element involved of Kabaad-The coin?

Answer: Of course, the result is out in front of you. The film is running in the evergreen category on MX Player. IMDb rating is 9.4/10. I think this story will prove to be a milestone in the stories of all time and will always be a topic for discussion.
