Feel Pretty: Looking through Priyanka Sarmacharjee’s beautiful eyes

The India Saga Saga |

The eye is probably the most beautiful thing God has ever created. A lens more powerful than any camera in the world, the eye is human beings’ windows to the world to see God’s earth in its full beauty and colour. All the brain’s creativity gets triggered after the eye sees beauty. It is one of the most important organs of the human body and is extremely beautiful.

Eyelashes and a young girl

A woman’s beauty is often measured by her eyes. For centuries, poets have written poems and songs, praising the beauty of the lover’s eye. The eyeball, the eyelashes. Long eyelashes are considered a sign of beauty in most cultures. Indian women, especially, are known for the beauty of their long eyelashes.

From her childhood itself, Priyanka Sarmacharjee was in love with her eyes. She would look close into the bedroom mirror and notice the colour of her eyes, the pupil, the long eyelashes. But unlike other girls, her friends, who would playfully compare the length of their eyelashes, Priyanka had other ideas in mind. She wanted everyone to have beautiful eyelashes just like her, be as pretty.

Priyanka was already dreaming big of making the world prettier. She needed a brand to let others look through her eyes.

The Inspiration and the dreams

As Priyanka grew up, she understood, not everyone could naturally have long eyelashes, lashes that would curl up beautifully, or just as arranged. As a professional in the beauty and makeup industry, she understood the importance of eyelash extensions and realized the poor quality of eyelash extensions in Indian market. By this time, she had come to know of influencer Huda Kattan and her brand Huda Beauty. While Priyanka transformed many brides, tycoons and actresses, she was almost apologetic for the eyelash extensions she was using. Many of them were harmful. Priyanka dreamt of taking the matter in her own hands. She would herself market such eyelash extensions that would be of premium quality, just like those of Huda Beauty. They would be cruelty-free, locally-made but of global standards.

The other thing she was extremely frustrated about was the quality of makeup brushes available in India. Brushes are the most basic equipment for a makeup artist and just as a painter can’t bring out his emotions, his art, his colours without a good brush, makeup artists, too can’t express themselves without a good quality brush. Priyanka thought she would bring a cruelty-free premium range of brushes that would suit every skin. Would match everyone’s budget.

Feeling pretty

Priyanka Sarmacharjee knew she had to go big. She was preparing herself up for her big dream in Bangalore and did her MBA in marketing while launching her brand Feel Pretty. Soon, Feel Pretty came into the market as a must-go-to store for any beauty enthusiast. She started bringing affordable beauty products in the market. For this, Priyanka launched her own brand name, ‘P’. P-LASH and P-BRUSH came to the market as the premium range of eyelashes and beautiful makeup brushes. While P-LASH is in the similar quality range of Huda Beauty’s lashes, the brushes under P-BRUSH brand could match brushes like Proarte’s or PAC’s. With zero animal testing, and a lot of affordability.

The next big thing

As the CEO of Feel Pretty, Priyanka Sarmacharjee always dared to dream big. Still in her early twenties, she is already operating all across India. Probably that is the reason why her brand has been nominated among India’s 500 best MSMEs. With her products available online now on major e-commerce sites like Flipkart and Amazon, it looks like Priyanka Sarmacharjee will soon be at the top of the sights for everyone. After all, she is putting so much to make others look into her eyes.

RBI online payment regulation; It will be cumbersome but worthwhile, says Deepak Talwar

The India Saga Saga |

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) proposal to stop e-commerce platforms and online aggregators from storing credit card data is sensible because of the country’s weak cyber-security laws and preparedness, a top market analyst has said.

Seasoned market analyst Deepak Talwar said that the RBI decision will make transactions cumbersome because a person will have to enter card details every time but it is worth the effort.

“There are talks about China trying to bring our power systems down through cyberattacks and this should not be taken lightly. Cyber thieves are all over India and the nation’s rapidly digitising financial ecosystem is vulnerable,” he said.

Talwar also said that there have been reports that PayTM, Juspay, and Big Basket’s consumer databases were compromised by hackers. India’s vaccine suppliers also faced cyber threats. “Last year, when Indian and Chinese troops came face to face in Galwan Valley, more than 40,000 Chinese hacking attempts were reported.”

There have been disruptions in the National Stock Exchange and HDFC Bank’s frequent outages which forced the RBI to stop the bank from expanding HDFC Bank’s card business till all the glitches were fixed.

“NSE is where the bulk of India’s stock market and bond transactions take place. India needs to be supremely protective of the actual storehouses of India’s stock market. The government must dematerialise wealth — the National Securities Depository Ltd and Central Securities Depository Ltd,” said Talwar.

He said that India has reasons to be worried because Indian power systems use significant Chinese equipment. And telecom infrastructure and handsets are China-dominated. There are loads of chips used in various gadgets which are either made in China or Taiwan.

“So there is an extent of what many call digital vulnerabilities. India’s cyber-crime force needs to be hyperactive to bring cybercriminals to book,” said Deepak Talwar. “The RBI should be lauded because it has correctly decided that discretion is the better part of cyber valour,” he added.

With over three decades of experience, Deepak Talwar is a well-known face in the corporate world. A serial entrepreneur, he has founded some of the leading global firms in the field of corporate consultancy in India and abroad.

Gautam Khaitan, an eminent corporate lawyer explains the changing dynamics & its impact on FDI in India

The India Saga Saga |

Gautam Khaitan an eminent corporate lawyer explains the changing dynamics & its impact on FDI in India.

Today, when the global tensions seem to be getting diffused, it has been reported that India is considering to clear FDI from China that India suspended post-face-off with the Dragon nation in May 2020 along the LAC.

Moreover, the government banned almost 100 Chinese apps citing security reasons that included some of the globally popular platforms including TikTok, Players Unknown Battle Ground (PUBG), and UC Browser. Eminent Corporate lawyer Gautam Khaitan explains the changing dynamics and its impact on FDI in India.

“Earlier, FDI from China used to get automatic clearances from the authorities. New Delhi brought the new FDI policy with the aim of protecting takeovers of local firms amidst the pandemic. As reports suggested that the National Security Advisor has raised a red flag over the investments from China, the government brought tough measures which included getting all the investments from the neighbour nation approved from the Home Ministry irrespective of the size of the investments,” says Gautam Khaitan.

However, the government has begun clearing FDI proposals from the Dragon Nation on a “case-by-case” basis. It is pertinent to note that such clearances are only for smaller cases and the government has categorically said that large proposals would be taken up after careful analysis of the situation.

Government is also keen to smoothening the process for FDI from China and had set up a coordination committee comprising of officers from the ministries of home, external affairs, commerce and industry and NitiAyog.

He said that the situation at the Indo-China border is somewhat diffused, the present political leadership in the country might choose to continue taking extra precautions even when the face-off is fully disseminated. “As several intelligence agencies across the world have raised alarm over Chinese government making disguised investments in foreign nations through dummy companies for espionage purposes. Almost every nation across the world is being precautious right now.”

The government has reportedly blocked over 120 Chinese FDI worth over INR 110 billion in the past nine months, Indian companies in dire need of Chinese investments have reflected unhappiness over the issue. “India is one of the beneficiaries of Chinese investments, but if you look at it from the government’s perspective, China is majorly investing in the technology sphere and is acquiring controlling stakes in Indian companies. Which is the matter of serious concern.”

“Today, technology is the place where strategic implications are being developed concerning the internal and external security of the nation. Further, the definition of state-owned enterprises and private enterprises are blurred making the whole issue going shady,” Gautam Khaitan adds. However, he also thinks that the issue regarding investments from China to India is overhyped as it constitutes only around 0.5 percent of the total share.

Conclusion: What do you think the government should do in such a case?

It can be inferred that India is closely monitoring China and the Chinese companies who want to establish themselves in India and rightly so as China had been involved in espionage in different countries by opening various dummy companies in the garb of investments. It is the aftermath of the Galwan clash at the eastern border that made India tightened the inflows from the Chinese investments. However, China is raising concerns that such actions are against the ethos and rules of WTO but India is well within its right to protect its sovereignty.

EC issues notice to CM Mamata Banerjee over remarks on “central powers bullying voters”

The India Saga Saga |

The Election Commission of India has issued a new notice to Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, requesting that she clarify her comments about central forces manning polling booths in the Bengal elections.

This is the second notification that the Election Commission has given to her. EC was convinced that her two remarks, one during a TV interview on March 28 and the other during a speech in Cooch Behar on April 7, were in violation of the model code of conduct as well as Sections 186, 189, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Banerjee is given time until 11 a.m. on April 10 to clarify her role in making the comments, according to the poll panel’s note.

The EC made a point of expressing its gratitude to the Central forces, saying that they have consistently performed admirably on the duties assigned to them in all fields, the most recent incident was the horrific episode in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, where people were forced to lay down their lives.

“It also needs to be placed on record that they and many other ministries and departments of the Union government and departments of state governments assist the ECI for the conduct of elections. But the praiseworthy role of central forces in ensuring free, fair, transparent and accessible elections merits a special mention.” they further said.

EC adding to the statement said that Banerjee may not have realised that her comments vilifying the Central powers were being misconstrued.

Sunil Arora, the Chief Election Commissioner, responded to a query at a press conference at the end of the two-day visit by saying it was unfortunate that “ a party made averments about the BSF.”
He added “ I have asked for concrete instances. They (BSF) are one of the finest forces in the country. There is no point in casting any force, ad nauseam.”

Indore-Based Startup Supersourcing Gets Recognised for Redefining IT Talent Outsourcing

The India Saga Saga |

Indore, April 9th 2021: Beginning from humble roots, founders of Supersourcing (Product of Engineer babu), Mayank Pratap and Aditi Chaurasia were always passionate about startups and the value they bring to people from a fresh perspective. With Mayank’s tech background and Aditi’s managerial expertise, the duo started a platform that has now become a leading name for finding the top tech talent for startups around the country.

Since its inception in January last year, Supersourcing has helped 350+ startups go digital by hiring 900+ remote engineers and developers from top companies.

Months into 2020, while the country was facing an economic crisis during COVID-19, Supersourcing stood as a pillar for small and medium businesses. For their continued effort, the startup was recognized by the Madhya Pradesh government and received an award from the Chief Minister of the state Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Supersourcing delivers exactly what it promises – matching the right talent with the talent seekers. The startup offers a pool of experienced, proficient and skilled developers from top agencies who are available for hire. It helps companies find their best tech fit based on their budget and other project requirements.

Having experienced the hardships of hiring first hand, it only made sense for the duo to start an IT outsourcing platform like Supersourcing. As many budding entrepreneurs have great ideas that don’t get realised owing to the lack of tech infrastructure and access, Supersourcing has emerged as an answer to embryonic startups to build their products from scratch.

Not only did Supersourcing get critically acclaimed by the state government, but it was successful in raising INR 1.5 crores in a round of seed funding, backed by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Ritesh Malik from the coworking space Innov8, and investor Nikhil Sharma.

With the IT outsourcing market size almost touching a billion dollars worldwide, Supersourcing aims at providing a fast and reliable solution to the tech woes faced by startups and companies looking to scale their tech teams at large.

So, the road ahead looks bright for the tech outsourcing innovation! Supersourcing has untapped opportunities lying ahead to digitally transform the startup space.
