Cipher case: Imran Khan, along with former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood, gets 10 years of imprisonment

Cipher case: Imran Khan, along with former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood, gets 10 years of imprisonment. Know what is the full story

Arsh Verma |

Cipher case: In the cipher case, a Pakistani court sentenced former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) head Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to ten years in prison on Tuesday. The case concerns a diplomatic document that Pakistan’s government investigative agency claims Imran Khan never returned. The former prime minister has claimed that the document included a threat from the US to depose Imran Khan while he was in office. A Pakistani special court resumed the cipher trial at the Adiala district jail last month. Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi were charged for the second time in this case on December 13.

The case began in October with initial allegations against the former Pakistani prime minister and foreign minister, both of whom are presently serving jail terms. They entered not-guilty pleas. The government’s jail trial announcement was pronounced “erroneous” by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), and the entire proceedings were halted. Imran’s party said they would challenge the decision and named it a ‘Sham’ case.

As per the media reports, the verdict was passed verbally by Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain. This judge has presided over the case’s hearings at the jail since its inception last year. According to the Federal Investigation Agency’s charge sheet, this issue hinges on a diplomatic document that Imran Khan failed to return. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has frequently claimed that this memo contained a threat from the US to remove Imran Khan from his prime ministerial position.

Remembering MK Gandhi on his death Anniversary

TheIndiaSaga Team |

Mahatma Gandhi, popularly known as Baapu, was one of those leaders in the world who had the potential to influence the masses with his actions. He emerged as a visionary leader during the times of the Indian freedom movement, which later turned into an ideology. He was a divine follower of non-violence, for which some modern historians called him a saint. However, people have different opinions about him; some portrayed him as an effective leader while others called him biassed.

Those who follow Gandhism (an ideology of Gandhi’s thoughts) said he was a leader of all and raised a voice to support oppressed people. However, others may see him as a leader of only one community, which was also the reason for his death.

On 30th January 1948, Nathuram Godse shot him to death. Godse felt that the mass slaughter caused during the partition of India would have been avoided if Gandhi and other leaders had tried to stop the killings of minorities(Hindu and Sikh) in west Punjab and east Pakistan by the Muslim majority of the regions.

Karmma Calling Review: A Remarkable Performance of Raveena Tandon

Godse said, “I talked to myself and knew that if I killed Gandhiji, I would be destroyed and that the only reaction I could hope for from the public would be hatred. However, I also believed that, in Gandhi’s absence, Indian politics would undoubtedly prove strong, retaliatory, and capable of using force. Without a doubt, Pakistan’s incursions would save the country, but my future would be destroyed.”

On the death anniversary of MK Gandhi, here are the five most famous independence movements led by him.

5 independence movements led by MK Gandhi

Champaran Satyagraha 1917

Mahatma Gandhi’s initial active participation in the Indian freedom movement was during the Champaran agitation in Bihar. This movement arose in response to the harsh sharecropping system exploiting impoverished indigo farmers. Through the assistance of local leader Raj Kumar Shukla, the farmers approached Mahatma Gandhi for help. In 1918, Gandhi was able to secure concessions from the colonial rulers through a planned nonviolent protest and demand that the illegal taxes imposed by the British be withheld. The movement compelled the British government to sign a deal that cancelled the tax increases and gave the farmers control in exchange for compensation.

Khilafat Movement 1920

After the conclusion of the First World War, Muslims in India feared for the safety of their Caliph or religious leader. The Ali brothers then started the Khilafat movement to express their disapproval of the injustices implemented in Turkey following the War. Following the leaders of Khilafat and Congress uniting to fight for Khilafat and Swaraj, the movement was led by Mahatma Gandhi in India.

Non-Cooperation Movement 1920

Mahatma Gandhi started the Non-Cooperation Movement in response to the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Mahatma Gandhi persuaded the people with the Congress’s assistance; his subsequent definition of the concept of Swaraj was one of the main drivers of this movement. During the Non-Cooperation Movement, Indians started to boycott British government products and establishments, such as government offices, colleges, and schools. The movement had a significant impact on the colonial government. However, Gandhi himself eventually called off the campaign after the Chauri Chaura incident, which claimed the lives of 23 police officers.

Civil Disobedience Movement 1930

In 1930, MK Gandhi gave a speech to the country via the newspaper Young India, stating that the movement would be put on hold if the government granted his 11 demands. But Lord Irwin, who was in charge of the British government then, ignored Gandhi’s requests. Consequently, he started the Civil Disobedience movement—also called the Dandi March or Salt Satyagraha—. Gandhi and 78 of his supporters marched on foot against the salt law from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi during this movement. Before the movement, the government used to control salt manufacturing, which was deemed illegal.

Quit India Movement 1942

Mahatma Gandhi started the “Bharat Chhodo Andolan,” also known as the Quit India Movement, to end British rule in India. Gandhi strongly opposed the British government and insisted that, even though India was not a free nation, Indians should fight for democratic causes. This debate demonstrated and uncovered the British emperors’ hypocrisies. According to some leaders, the movement was the last nail in the British regime of India.

Maldivian president may face impeachment for anti-India stand

TheIndiaSaga Team |

After backing anti-India policy, there is no sign of decreasing trouble for Maldivian President Muizzu; he is following outrage from everywhere. On Monday, the leading opposition party, MDP (Maldivian Democratic Party), supported an impeachment against the president. The opposition parties are trying to impeach him. Opposition leaders are furious over Muizzu’s pro-Chinese actions. Recently, the government of Maldives granted official permission for a Chinese spy ship to dock over Male.

Following the incident, chaos erupted in the parliament of Maldives, leading the opposition to a no-confidence motion against the government. On Sunday, violence broke out in parliament during a crucial vote on parliamentary approval for the Muizzu government, which was disrupted by government MPs from the PPM/PNC party.

President Muizzu, who took office with a solid anti-India stance, has been up against resistance in recent weeks, particularly in light of the diplomatic spat with New Delhi over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s widely shared post regarding his visit to the Lakshadweep islands. Three ministers were removed for their harsh remarks.

The latest in the anti-India rhetoric, Mr Muizzu demanded that India remove its eighty troops from the country by the middle of March, portraying their presence as a security threat to the island nation.

The previous Maldives governments had seen India as a good friend who supported the island nation in its worst times. However, after the sudden change in policy and the Chinese spy ship incident, things became more heated.

In a joint press release, the Democrats and the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) highlighted the government’s recent policy change as “extremely detrimental” to the country’s long-term development. They accused it of making a “stark” anti-Indian pivot.

The statement stated, “The long-term development of the nation will be severely harmed by alienating any development partner, particularly the most steadfast ally in the nation.” Additionally, it emphasised that “the stability and security of the Maldives depend on stability and security in the Indian Ocean.”

Karmma Calling Review: A Remarkable Performance of Raveena Tandon

Karmma Calling Web Series Review: A Remarkable Performance of Raveena Tandon in a Lazy Tale of Retribution.

Arsh Verma |

Narration: A young lady is determined to bring an end to everyone who mistreated her father and ruined her early years. How far she will go in her quest for vengeance is the question that emerges.

Review

Raveena Tandon plays the role of Indrani Kothari in this desi adaptation. She used to be an actress and is now well-known in Alibaug as a socialite. But everything changes dramatically when Karma Talwar (Namrata Sheth), a mysterious young girl, enters her life. The arrival of Karma turns many lives upside down. Karmma Calling, to put it simply, is about a little girl’s quest for revenge.

Karmma Calling, a television series that is adapted from the famous American original series “Revenge,” struggles mightily to incorporate the elements of gory retribution into Indrani’s glossy, far-from-ideal world. The overly simplistic and careless writing, which primarily aims to replicate a Western story in an ultra-rich Desi setting, is the main problem with this work. Words like “paisewale” and “gareeb,” which they emphasise, give the entire story a jaded sound. The characterisations and their circumstances are rife with contradictions as well. For instance, it is always a mystery how Karma, an orphan, manages to accumulate such wealth and what kind of work she does. A set of brothers own a lavish cafe in a beach town and are always complaining about their family being broke and gareeb.

Even the most prominent character, such as Indrani, appears to be unsure of her goals and principles. Karma’s plans are usually absurd, and her retaliation seems to be easily accomplished. She doesn’t even have to think twice to wreak severe havoc on Indrani’s life and those close to her.

Redeeming qualities of the film

Despite all the inconsistencies in the writing, Raveena Tandon is the show’s saving grace because she excels at portraying the subtleties of her character, even on the small screen. Namrata Sheth speaks with confidence. In his brief appearance on screen as Satyajit, Karma’s father, Rohit Roy does a good job. Although they are visually appealing, Varun Sood and Devangshi Sen, who portray Indrani’s disobedient kids, could utilise a few more facial expressions. Additionally, the costume design and cinematography are appropriately glossy. Director Ruchi Narain does a fantastic job of exploring the politics of high society.

The movie’s star cast is Raveena Tandon, Namrata Sheth, Varun Sood, Viraf Patel, and Vikramjeet Virk.
