Protesting Wrestlers asks CPM’s Brinda Karat not to use the stage for Politics; WFI cancels its general meeting

On Thursday, CPM leader and Rajya Sabha MP Brinda Karat reached Jantar Mantar, the site where Indian Wrestlers were protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India’s chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and other officials alleging sexual exploitation of several athletes. Karat was immediately asked to get down from the stage by Bajrang Punia who requested her with folding hands to not use the site for political purposes.

 

“Neeche utar jaaiye please (Please get down)… We request you, madam, please don’t make this political,” Olympiad Bajrang Punia told CPM leader Brinda Karat when she arrived at Jantar Mantar, the site where the ongoing protest by several wrestlers is taking place. Sakshi Malik, the Rio Olympic medallist, World Champion Sarita Mor, Anshu Malik, Satyawart Malik, Sonam Malik, Bajrang Punia are among in total 30 celebrated Indian Wrestlers who have assembled at the famous protest site, Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding sacking the President of Wrestling Federation of India.

 

Keeping in view the ongoing controversy, the Union Sports Ministry has announced the calling of the Emergency General Council Meeting of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) that was scheduled to be held on Sunday at Ayodhya. Additionally, the body has been directed to suspend all ongoing activities that also includes a major Ranking Tournament in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda, owing to the various allegations against the sports body and Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, the President of the body.

 

As soon as the protest erupted out into a major controversy with opposition parties sharpening the attack on the BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, Anurag Thakur, the Union Sports Minister, went onto the protesting site and announced the formation of an oversight committee to probe the allegations. The ministry on Saturday also suspended WFI’s assistant secretary Vinod Tomar, a fallout of the grapplers’ allegations of sexual harassment and corruption against the sports body’s chief.

Republic Day 2023:- Modi government allocates first few rows for maintenance workers of Central Vista Project

In an unprecedented move, the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre has decided to pay a befitting tribute to the maintenance workers and labourers who played a crucial role in revamping the Central Vista Project. The government has allotted the first few rows for them as well as for common people from all walks of lives for the Republic Day Parade 2023 to be held at Kartavya Path.  

 

With an aim to bring people from all walks of life at the Republic Day Parade 2023, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has included some special invitees such as maintenance workers and labourers who contributed in renovating the new Central Vista that includes new Parliament and Kartavya Path. From rickshaw pullers to vegetable vendors, nearly 850 of them are reported to be invited to witness the grand Republic Day Parade. Additionally, as per top-level sources, Shramjeevis (construction workers who helped build the Central Vista), their families, maintenance workers of newly-renovated Kartavya Path, and other members of a plethora of communities such as rickshaw pullers, small vegetable vendors and fruit sellers will be seated in front of the main dais during the spectacle. 

 

The theme for Republic Day 2023 is the “participation of the common people” and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the President of Egypt, will be witnessing the Parade as he has been invited as the Chief Guest. Not just this, a marching contingent consisting of 120 soldiers from Egypt would also be a part of this year’s Republic Day Parade. This Republic Day also marks the first time when Parade will be held on the newly constructed Kartavya Path which was earlier known as Rajpath- the stretch between Rashtrapathi Bhawan at Raisina Hills to the India Gate.

 

The Government of India has also reduced the number of seats for the Republic Day 2023 to 45,000, with 32,000 of these seats and 10% of the total seats reserved for the Beating Retreat event which is available for online sale to the common public. The Beating Retreating Ceremony is organised by the Indian Army, with the President of India as the principal guest. The grand ceremony takes place at the Vijay Chowk, filling it with lights, music, and patriotism. It is played by bands from the combined Indian Armed Force that includes the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, as well as Army pipe bands and it marks the conclusion of Republic Day parades, symbolising the rolling back of parading Indian soldiers. 

 

Additionally, as per the itinerary, there would also be programmes by the Union Ministry for Tribal Affairs and Union Defence Ministry that would be showcasing art forms of various Indian states during the Bharat Parv at the Red Fort in Delhi. The flypast will also include around 18 helicopters, 8 transporter aircrafts and 23 fighters. Since the news of inviting workers at Republic Day 2023 broke out, Social Media is flooded with compliments for the Narendra Modi government. The ongoing Central Vista Redevelopment includes a Common Central Secretariat and the Special Protection Group (SPG) building which is estimated to be around ₹13,450 crore along with New Parliament Building, Kartavya Path and 18 other buildings that would house a plethora of ministries. Moreover, Vigyan Bhavan, as per the development plan, will be demolished and a new Central Conference Center will be built along with construction of New office and residence for the Vice President and the Prime Minister.

In view of the upcoming Republic Day preparations, the GoI has also barred heavy vehicles from entering the National Capital and security across the city has been beefed up.

Bharat Jodo Yatra: Rahul Gandhi resumes yatra from Hatli Morh, Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi (January 21th, 2023): On Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi started the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Hatli Morh in the border district of Jammu and Kashmir. Several prominent leaders including Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut also joined the foot march. The yatra today was, however, delayed by one hour and fifteen minutes due to the winter rains. Despite all of this, multiple Congress workers and supporters were carrying the tricolour and showed up hours before the commencement of the yatra that will cover 25 km before a halt at Chadwal, Kathua district for the night. There will be no yatra on Saturday, as per the grand old Congress party.

 

This is the last leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra which commenced from Kanyakumari on September 7, 2022. Owing to this, on Wednesday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge invited 21 significant non-NDA parties to join hands on the culmination of the yatra in Srinagar on January 30. Many Congress leaders including party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit president Vikar Rasool Wani and G A Mir accompanied Rahul Gandhi during this final leg of the yatra. “I am going back to the place from where my family had gone to Uttar Pradesh. I believe that when one goes to his roots, he comes across many things to learn about himself, his people and the country,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi. 

 

The Bharat Jodo Yatra was initiated by Rahul Gandhi and M.K. Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s chief minister with an aim to protest against the politics of ‘bigotry, fear and prejudice,’ along with highlighting other issues like the economics of livelihood destruction, growing unemployment rate and increasing inequality. Till now the yatra has covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Now that it has entered the last leg, that is, Jammu and Kashmir, activists and party members are looking forward to the Hath Se Hath Jodo Campaign that is scheduled to commence soon.

WCTM launched a magazine while organizing World Premier League

WCTM organized WPL (also known as World Premier League) Season two with the launch of the magazine “विश्वसुरभि” as WCTM initiative to India’s Presidency in the G20 Summit where teams from different Schools participated to show their talent in Cricket. The inauguration commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by the Welcome address of Chief Guest Hon’ble Mr. O.P Dhankar (President, BJP Haryana) and Hon’ble Dr. Narendra Singh (Chairman, WCTM).   

 

The chief guest in his address stressed the importance of sports in life. “Sports have tremendous effects on our body. People nowadays prefer video games and mobile phones but the real victory lies in building up a healthy lifestyle. Sports allow us to do that. Personally, I recommend playing sports on a daily basis and supporting sportsmanship which motivates us all to bring out the best in us,” Mr. O.P Dhankar stated. “It is true that playing sports increases productivity, promotes positive attitude, and makes people less frustrated. We need to promote this idea as much as we can,” he further explained. 

 

The Match began with a toss which Cambridge International Sr. Secondary School won. Following that, the team opted to bat first, leaving the New Happy Child Sr. Secondary School team to ball. It was a real nail-biter. All the teams enjoyed at best and maintained their accountability, patience and self confidence, while also facing the challenges with integrity. At the end of the event, mementos and bouquets were presented to the Chief Guest by Kunwar Nishant Singh, the Managing Trustee, WCTM, as a token of gratitude. Not only this, the inaugural program was concluded with a Vote of Thanks to the Chief Guest and Chairman, along with a formal appreciation to the organizing committee. 

 

“It was a pleasure to have our Chief Guest present here to honor this event. By promoting sports and instigating the idea of health through our event, we are glad to see such cheerful presence at the premises. By developing our skills, improving self esteem and becoming more confident, this day has proved to be very successful,” the Vote of Thanks read. “The event was made even more prominent with the presence of our guests of honour. And we are happy to witness its huge success, thanks to our organizing committee for doing such a tremendous job in handling everything. We are obliged to have all of you by our side,” said the Vote of Thanks, praising the triumphant support of their organizing committee.

Asees started off her career at the age of seven to train at the Kalyani Kala Mandir to become a reputed Bharatnatyam dancer in South Delhi. Bharat Jodo Yatra enters Himachal Pradesh; Rahul Gandhi heap praises on CM Sukhu

Congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi enters Himachal Pradesh where newly appointed  CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and state Congress President Pratibha Singh were seen walking with RaGa.

 

On Wednesday, the long Padyatra- Bharat Jodo Yatra by Congress party entered its Himachal leg where Rahul Gandhi was seen walking along the streets of the Hill state along with Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the PCC Chief Pratibha Singh. The Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi walked 18 Kilometres in parts of Kangra District during his day-long leg of the Yatra. Rahul Gandhi, during the Padyatra also heaped praise on newly-appointed Himachal CM Sukhu. Addressing a gathering, he called Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu a ‘Zameeni Aadmi’ (down-to-earth humble man) and equated the people of the Himachal with mountains which were “strong but calm”. 

 

Rahul Gandhi also attacked the ruling Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre. He stated that BJP is spreading hatred, “violence and fear” and he also slammed the opposition party on the issues of inflation, unemployment, demonetization, GST, Agniveer, farmers’ issues and many other issues. The Wayanad MP also accused the BJP of capturing a plethora of government institutions and said the only way left was to take it to the streets and roads to highlight those key issues. 

 

After spending six days in the neighbouring state of  Punjab, the Rahul Gandhi-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ entered the hill state of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning. After the march entered the state near the Ghatota village located in Kangra district, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring handed over the flag to Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and state Congress chief- Pratibha Singh. CM Sukhu and Pratibha Singh thanked Rahul Gandhi for including the hill state in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was initially not included in the scheduled itinerary released by the Grand Old Party.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra Congress is gaining huge traction across the country and is scheduled to enter the last leg in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on January 19th. Until now, this Yatra has successfully covered over 3,500 km in 115 days. It commenced in Kanyakumari on September 07 and has covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Haryana. It will finally culminate in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
