China includes the disputed territories in the new official map

Preyensha Srivastava |

China has a history of including the neighbouring country’s territories in its official map. One such incident happened again on August 28 when the country released another official map, which portrays Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea regions as a part of China. This move of revealing a new official map has raised diplomatic problems and ignited existing conflicts. The 2023 edition of China’s official map was presented on the standard map service website by the Ministry of Natural Resources of China.

The map utilizes a strategy involving national borders to represent China’s viewpoint on world geography, potentially lighting up issues with neighbouring countries. Clarifying the Map, the state-run Global Times tweeted “This map is compiled based on the drawing technique of national borders of China and different nations of the world.” The Chinese government declares Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet and Aksai Chin as part of their territory via their map.  The map also contains China’s claims over the disputed island of Taiwan as a part of a vowed objective of the Chinese president. The nations of Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, and Taiwan have counterclaims over the regions in the South China Sea. The map also reiterates Beijing’s assertions on Taiwan by positioning a “tenth dash” on the east of the island.

After China announced that they would “standardize” the names of 11 locations in Arunachal Pradesh including a town near the state’s capital Itanagar, they released the new map. The main concern for India is the inclusion of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin on the map, both regions that have long been subject to conflicting assertions between China and India. Arunachal Pradesh, despite China’s assertions of it as South Tibet, has remained a crucial part of India. India has always restated this standpoint. India has constantly said that the state of Arunachal Pradesh has “always been” and will “always be” an essential part of the country.

Article 35(A) is a violation of the Indian Constitution: SC

Arsh Verma |

During the 11th day of the hearing of the appeals against the scrapping of Article 370, the Chief Justice of India made his observations. He said, “The non-habitants of Jammu and Kashmir were deprived of some essential constitutional rights because of Article 35(A). All these privileges included only the residents of Jammu and Kashmir while excluding the non-residents. I agree with the centre’s judgment as the Constitution of J&K can not be placed higher than the center.”

Article 35A, which was also abolished in mid-2019 along with Article 370, permitted the legislature of the former state to define ‘permanent habitants’ and provide them with superior privileges and benefits in terms of public occupation, unmovable possessions, and settlement. Emphasizing the constitutional rights that Article 35(A) violated, the Judge said, “Article 16 (1, which provides the right to employment under the State Government, was taken away directly as Article 35(A) was enforced. So while on one hand Article 16(1) was conserved, on the other hand, Article 35(A) instantly took away that basic right and was saved from any challenge on this ground,” “Similarly, Article 19, which permits the citizens of the country to live and settle in any part of the country was also violated by Article 35(A),” Chandrachud added.

“The decision to discard Article 35(A) has made the citizens of J&K on the level with the country and now they can also enjoy the welfare laws which were not enforced earlier in J&K.” said the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta agreeing with the decision of the center. He further gave some examples of welfare laws and stated “ Any modification made to the Indian Constitution would not apply to Jammu and Kashmir until it was invoked through Article 370. The Right to Education was not executed earlier in J&K till 2019, because this route was not obeyed at all,” The main arguing point for the center is to give all the states and their citizens equal rights and maintain equality.

Decode your Period: Understanding Symptoms and Solutions

sachin |

Menstruation, a natural process that all women go through, can be difficult at times. Understanding the various symptoms and their underlying causes is essential for efficient period management and general well-being. This article seeks to interpret your period by putting light on typical menstrual symptoms and providing practical strategies to decrease discomfort and improve your monthly experience. You may navigate your period with better ease and embrace this crucial feature of femininity with confidence and empowerment by acquiring insights into your body’s signals and applying suitable procedures.

What are the Symptoms Relating to Menstruation?

Women get through period symptoms before their actual period starts disrupting their everyday life, and it is usually termed PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome). PMS usually occurs one or two weeks before the start of the monthly cycle. During this time, women commonly go through one or more physical, emotional, or behavioral symptoms. The period-related symptoms are:

  • Breast tenderness: This is one of the most common period symptoms amongst women before their actual monthly cycle starts; it is also known as cyclic mastalgia; the tenderness can either be one-sided or on both sides and is very much normal. Many fear it may be a sign of breast cancer, but it is harmless and has to do with the change of prolactin response to thyrotropin. Unless one feels lumps forming on the breast, it is likely to be related to a period.
  • Bloating: Bloating associated with a period is common; most women experience it during their menstrual cycle. Usually, you get the feeling of tightness, pressure, or fullness in the stomach, this symptom stops upon reaching the monthly cycle, or it continues even during their period for some women.
  • Mood swings: Another menstrual symptom in women is mood swings. There is a sudden shift of mood; a woman can go from being normal to being suddenly sad, angry, or even depressed. This mood swing might worry some, but it’s pretty normal and can be addressed as being a normal kind of mood swing.
  • Abdominal pain: Several women go through abdominal pain, also known to many as a stomach cramp; it’s a throbbing pain in the lower abdomen lasting about 1-3 days before or even during the cycle for some women.
  • Backache: Backache is also one underlying sign of menstrual symptoms caused by stomach cramps. Since the uterus is creating more prostaglandins (hormone-like chemical messengers) that cause the muscles to contract and cause pain that radiates to your back.

How to Deal with Period Symptoms?

  • Exercise: Exercising or doing yoga can help ease the menstrual cramps to a certain extent as there is movement, and the muscles relax the tension from within.
  • Pain Reliever: Certain women can deal with cramps without depending on medication. However, it only works for some. So, to relieve oneself from severe pain and discomfort, one can get help from pain-relieving medication specifically prescribed for cramps.
  • Apply Heat: Using a heating pad or hot water bag can be helpful to relax the muscles that cause cramps. One can also go for a hot bath to ease the pain. There is also easy availability of heating patches in the market, especially for people who live an on-the-go lifestyle.
  • Drinking Hot Water: Although this may sound funny that drinking hot water may ease symptoms of a period, drinking hot water increases blood flow throughout the body and relaxes your muscles, lessening the cramps caused by uterine contractions.
  • Eat Healthy: Eating healthy can be a great way to ease period symptoms and period pains. Doctors suggest certain vitamins and minerals relieve symptoms of a period; many studies indicate that foods rich in vitamin B1 and magnesium help reduce the symptoms of period-related issues.

Conclusion

Menstruation is an inevitable part of a woman’s life, and the key to managing period-related issues lies in self-awareness and finding effective ways to alleviate signs and symptoms. Adopting a healthy lifestyle and seeking guidance from a gynaecologist when necessary, can be immensely beneficial. It is also vital to choose the right kind of sanitary pads, whether it is regular pads or heavy flow pads. Embracing womanhood means being resilient and facing menstruation with open arms, regardless of the challenges it brings. So, let’s approach it with strength and positivity, ready to overcome any obstacles that come our way.

Dalit boy beaten to death over a Rape case filed by his Sister

Preyensha Srivastava |

In Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, a Dalit boy was thrashed to death by a mass of individuals over a sexual assault case filed by her sister four years back. The victim’s sister was also beaten and his mother was disrobed by the mob when she tried to save her son from the assault as claimed by the police.

The attackers assaulted the victim and forced his sister to withdraw the complaint made against them. “Eight out of nine people are arrested by the police and are facing strict charges under the SC-ST Act,” said the Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Uikey. With tears in her eyes, the victim’s mother expressed, “They had beaten him a lot, so much so that he could not survive. They disrobed me till the cops arrived. I was given a towel by the cops and I stood there till I was handed a saree. They also damaged and destroyed our house and also went in search of our two sons,” The mob also attacked the victim’s aunt’s house. “They would have killed my husband and son too” his aunt claimed. The dispute started when the victim’s sister filed a complaint against four people for sexual assault and beating her. All four accused were arrested in the case, which has now moved to court.

The situation in the village remains unsettling as the police are deployed, the victim’s family was assured help under the government schemes by the District Collector and then the final rites were performed. The mishap triggered a series of exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition including Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party. The opposition slammed the BJP, whereas the ruling party claimed that they took swift action on the situation. The ruling party also criticized Congress for its selective approach to highlighting crime.

The Congress chief Malika Arjun Kharge replied by saying, “ Dalit and tribal oppression persisted unabated in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP has made Madhya Pradesh a laboratory of Dalit monstrosities.” Kunal Nath, who is the state chief of Congress, requested monetary help for the sufferer’s family. MP Minister, Bhupendra Singh refuted all the allegations and claimed the crime was a result of a dispute between the two groups.

Navigating NFT: A Comprehensive User Guide

Devendra Khati |

Digital art is a broad term encompassing any art created using digital technology. This can include anything from paintings and drawings to sculptures and animations. NFTs, a digital art developed using blockchain technology, experienced a meteoric rise in popularity. The predicament has only gotten trickier. Tens of millions of dollars have been paid for ape images, headlines about million-dollar hacks of NFT projects are nonstop, and corporate cash grabs are only getting worse.

With the NFT market exploding, NFT holders are expected to have a brighter future. The internet was launched many years ago, completely transforming how humans lived on Earth. Another example is blockchain. After the 2008 U.S. disruption, blockchain came into the picture of the system upon which cryptocurrencies and NFTs are built.

In this article, we will explain the concept of NFTs, what they are, and How To Buy Or Sell Them. So, if you plan to invest in NFTs or take an interest in cryptocurrencies, read this article until the end. Without any further ado, let’s get started!

What is an NFT?

Non-fungible token, commonly known as NFT, are digital tokens in the blockchain network. The hype around NFTs has increased massively, especially in the past few months. In simple terms, these are your digital assets, which are further transformed into a kind by developing a unique digital signature that defines the ownership of the asset and can be sold or bought even for real money.

Many believe that NFT is a kind of cryptocurrency, which is a misconception as these are not interchangeable tokens. In contrast, each token represents unique assets a specific person owns. The love and support that NFTs are getting have motivated thousands and millions to transform their art forms into digital tokens that can be bought and sold at as high as $91.8m.

So, if you’re one of the many artists who think more than twice before putting your work online? Or if your work is not secured online, as anyone could easily forge or replicate it, choose the path of NFTs.

NFTs majorly work for supply chain purposes as organizations maintain reliable data regarding their physical world assets. Hence, companies are dependent on NFTs to showcase their actual assets digitally. Since NFTs easily represent real-world assets digitally, tracking these objects through NFTs is easier. By any chance, the NFT is resold, and programmers design NFTs to automate royalty back to the original creator quickly. It minimizes the chances of copying. Today, consumers are extremely selective about product descriptions. Therefore, providing reliable certifications, including fair trade or organic, boosts sales.

Benefits of NFTs

The use of NFTs in digital art has several benefits:

  1. NFTs may contribute to the rarity of digital assets. Due to this, collectors may find them to be more valuable and appealing.
  2. NFTs can offer ownership documentation for digital assets. By doing this, fraud can be avoided, and artists’ rights can be safeguarded.
  3. Online trading and transfers of NFTs are simple.

They are, therefore, a practical means of buying and selling digital art.

NFTs’ limitations

The use of NFTs (Non-fungible tokens) for digital art has some restrictions as well:

  1. Making and selling NFTs can be expensive.
  2. It can be complicated to comprehend NFTs.
  3. Neither a government agency nor a financial institution regulates NFTs.

The Bottom Line

NFTs are a brand-new, cutting-edge method for making, selling, and acquiring digital art. They have several benefits over conventional methods of buying and selling digital art, including the ability to trade them online and proof of ownership. However, NFTs have some drawbacks, like their high price and lack of regulation. NFTs are a promising technology that could fundamentally alter how we buy and sell digital art.
